Floyd Mayweather Inks New Deal With Showtime/CBS, Labeled “Biggest In The Sport of Boxing”

(AllHipHop News) Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. has inked a deal a new deal that could make him the highest-paid athlete in all of sports this year.

The undefeated, eight-time world champion has teamed with Showtime PPV and CBS Corporation, to promote Floyd Mayweather’s fights on the CBS Television Network and its respective platforms.

According to reps for Showtime and CBS, the companies have struck a unique revenue-sharing deal with Floyd Mayweather, which will allow him to fight six times, over the next 30 months.

Mayweather averages over 1 million pay-per-view buys per event, the most of any boxer in history.

While terms of the deal were not disclosed due to confidentiality agreements, all parties involved said that it was highly lucrative for Floyd Mayweather Jr.

“At this record-setting PPV performance level, if all six fights contemplated by this deal occur, it will be the richest individual athlete deal in all of sports,” a rep for Showtime PPV said in a statement.

The first fight to take place under the new deal will happen on May 4, 2013, when Floyd Mayweather Jr. takes one Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero.

  • I love Floyd but this just kinda proves Fif was right that Floyd is living check to check. A 6 fight deal??? Floyd don’t have 6 more in him, yo. He even said himself before the Cotto fight that he had about 3 more. Clearly this is him cashing out. It seems like has has to fight 6 times to get his money straight. I love the champ but I expect 6 layups, starting with this fight against Robert “nobody’s heard of you” Guererro.

    • This does not prove Fifty was right about anything. Floyd Mayweather could just be fighting to invest more money into passive revenue streams, for the simple fact that he just wants more money. That’s the way wealthy people become wealthy, and stay wealthy. Fifty does not know how much money Floyd needs to be happy and survive, and if he has passive revenue streams that can provide it. Floyd’s team never let Fifty see into the business side of the Floyd Mayweather business, so unless Floyd gave 50 an accounting of every place he has money, then there is no way for Fifty to know what Floyd truly has.

Just out of curiosity, how do you know that Floyd’s team never let 50 see into his business dealings?

      • Floyd’s manager, that FIfty was trying to have Floyd fire, said that Fifty did not know anything about Floyd’s business, and Floyd himself reiterated that point when he got out of jail. Fifty said that Floyd had no real businesses, Floyd has said the exact opposite. Fifty said that Floyd is a glorified Golden Boy promotions fighter. Floyd has said that this is completely untrue, and he says that he runs his own promotions business.

Floyd has been saying that his company Mayweather Promotions handles all of his business ever since he left Bob Arum and stopped working with De La Hoya years ago. Fifty Cent flat out said that Mayweather Promotions does not exist.

Floyd earns more money from boxing than anybody except HBO and Showtime. In order for Floyd to do that, he has to have his business in order.

I haven’t personally talked to Floyd or Fifty about this situation, but just based off of the facts, I’m going to trust the #3 guy in the boxing industry when he says that he runs a real business, and that FIfty Cent does not know what he’s talking about.

    • What do you expect?

      6 Manny Paquio’s?

Floyd put in work, beating the best on his way in, 6 tomato cans isn’t a bad way to go out, considered the chippers involved.

  • This is off topic but where on earth is Ja rule?
I thought he was meant to be out already.

  • Wait, people still watch boxing? One of the most corrupt sports on the planet? I’d rather watch paint dry.

Doubt there will be 6 fights..esp in 2 yrs..not 6 opponents out there worth him fighting…sad part is..if he’s the richest in sports, he’ll never shut the hell up now lol
