Ol Dirty Bastard's Widow Disses "Hologram" Concept At Rock The Bells

(AllHipHop News) Icelene Jones, the widow of the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard, has reportedly issued a cease and desist order to halt the virtual performance of the late rapper at the Rock The Bells festival later this year.

She told news magazine Rolling Out that she is the only person that can approve such an event.

“I am disappointed that Rock the Bells would not contact me directly about the use of my husband’s image,” she told Rolling Out. “I am looking forward to talking to Wu-Tang about this matter and coming up with a positive solution in order to bring my husband’s image to the stage once again.”

“My son, Young Dirty Bastard, [also known as] Boy Jones has always performed at Rock the Bells and looks forward to working with his Uncle RZA every year,” she said.

Earlier in the week, AllHipHop exclusively broke the news that Rock The Bells had secured “virtual performances” from the late Eazy-E and Ol’ Dirty. Organizers touted that they gotten the thumbs up from Eazy’s widow and ODB’s mother.

Earlier in the week, AllHipHop exclusively interviewed the man that will manage the process of these virtual performances, Chris “Broadway” Romero.

“This would not be happening without family approval, and without the involvement and excitement from the groups ODB and Eazy E anchored,” Romero told AllHipHop. “There will always be opposition to new the great power of new technology, but fans should rest assured that this power is in responsible hands.”

      *Show Respect

That’s ODB’s wife & legally, next of kin. In reality, it’s her call to make, not MOMz, RZA or Wu Tang…unless ODB didn’t own the rights to his image.

      Wife > Baby Momz

Still, she does want that Guap!

I think it’s a losing battle though, because Young Dirty is at Rock The Bellz on the strength of Old Dirty & that is a blessing / payment in it of itself.

Cut the check, even if symbolic….but the last thing she …or rather Young Dirty needs, is to get cut out of RTB.

So all rappers wives should be respected no matter what? Did they inspire/manage the concerned artists or something?

Also, since when people get offended over the word bitch yo?

      • EDOGZ818

Not saying that at all, but if you respect the rapper, IE: ODB, respect his wife, if all she is doing is handling his business legitimately.

B’Ish is like Ninja….it’s not the word, but the venom in the context that matters.

Imagine if his son were reading the comments, while it wouldn’t matter, it would still be hurtful. Put yourself in his / their shoes.

If you were a knucklehead, I wouldn’t have mentioned it, but you always come across as a stand up dude, and that is why I feel you are wrong on that.

The comment was clearly a joke though and most of us are CLEARLY familiar with the use of the word bitch.

No need to catch feelings over this, in this context I obviously have no reason to insult ODBs wife. Just feel the word bitch as a synonym for woman.

      • EDOGZ818

Indeed, I understand 100%, which is why I spoke up.

When you get married & have daughters….”B’ish” stops being a synonym for women.

        It starts with us!

        PEACE!

my problem is if ODB is her business, then handle the business 365. dont wait till somebody says i gotta idea, “lets make a hologram” then try to cash in. a real business manager would already be thinking of ways to continue the legacy…. put out unreleased tracks, t-shirts, dvd that chronicle his life. if momma ODB is the only one hustling to keep her son alive she should be making the decision on how his image is used. IMO

      • EDOGZ818

That’s a personal opinion, and while I agree with it wholeheartedly, legally speaking, she’s the boss.

Either she owns his publishing or not, on that aspect, but the hologram is along the same line. It’s not a facebook meme, it’s a for profit commercial venture, with her assets, that they under took, without her consent, knowledge or cooperation.

Is she even capable of handling her / his business?

A competent leader surrounds themselves with competent people…but with that being said, The Wu- knew better.

There might be some fugg ‘chet going on money wise!

I’m gonna guess rza and mrs dirty bastard don’t get along.

      • brotha_man

it is my opinion, but i know the courts would side with wifey 10 out of 10 times

      • EDOGZ818

        20 out of 10x.

No way around it, funny thing is, in Islam, you will your estate to your sister’s kids…..because you know they are hers for sure.

        #IJS

Still, I think Mrs. Dirty Bastard paid her dues!

If she had stepped to them and said I want you to make a hologram of my husband you would be cursing her out for not letting her husband rest in peace and trying to make a buck off of his image.

What the promoters are doing is akin to when a producer samples a song and tries to use that sample without clearance, she is the clearance and when she isn’t around any more it will be his children, not his Mother and not us.

      • brotha_man

not true her biz is her biz i was just stating that i hope she is handle her biz the right way. its a eat or get ate industry

      • $11625525

Would I want some stranger calling my wife a Bitch? No! Would I want the person I exchanged vows with, who raised my children and stuck by me through the ups and the downs to be treated like a Gold Digger?

Let’s see what happens when they decide to bring Big Pun or B.I.G. back to the stage in the form of holograms.

      • hoeyuno

This is cool what they doin tho. they need big L and pun to pop out also.

      • brotha_man

If ODB wifey tripping out, PUN wifey gonna destroy earth with her Q-36 space modulator!

    • Adopefemalemc

how she a bitch for wantin her family 2 eat when the ppl putting on the show eatin off him..but SHE the one takin care of the seed. why ppl hate women so much they can’t even think str8

      • 7yoyo7

This has nothing to do with “hating on women”. Most baby mammas would ask money to buy fancy shit. Raekwon said that ODBs seeds are straight financially, they even took his son on tour (despite the lack of talent).

But hey thanks for your $2 opinion sherlock…

      • hoeyuno

I can’t watch that kid doing his very awkward impersonations of his father.

      • sandybug

Coming from someone who’ll have a fit if a white man called him the N-word.

      • 7yoyo7

Really? Do you know me though? Do you know that my “white friends” already call me that from time to time?

Just stop frontin the only reason you guys are crying is because she is ODBs wife.

      • Adopefemalemc

WIFE, not baby mama, for one. “most baby mamas”.. think about how you started that sentence. Your stupidity wins.
