Hip-Hop Rumors: Timbaland And Jay-Z Discuss Past Beef

I guess I was way out of the loop when this beef happened. Timbaland and Jay? I wasn’t very aware of that. Anyway not only are Tim and Jay talking about it, but the producer is addressing it in a song. That’s right. Timbaland and Keri Hilson have a song addressing a beef with Jay-Z. Wait, but wait. What about the alleged beef between Keri and Beyonce? They should have just gone all the way and addressed that in the song too. This way my side chick Keri can get back in the damn game.

Here is the video:

They keep us talking, but if we stop talking about them then they should worry! -illseed.

    Emo shit.

I dunno man, I used to scrap with my closest and it was right as soon as it ended, it’s just shit that had to happen to clear the air.

Timb’ sounds like he wants to cry, Jigga sounds like he’s in control…

Also, 17 years and people still cannot stop talking about 2Pac, it just makes me wonder which direction hip hop would have taken had he lived. I’m a fan, and he wasn’t as lyrical as BIG but for some reason he appears to have a lot more influence, in death.

He’s like the ghost of Hip Hop past, in the studio haunting all these dudes whilst their trying to write bars.

How many kids you know under 17 that talk about Pac like they lived during his time? It’s like Christians and Jesus, Jews and Abraham, Muslim’s and Mohammed. The man has martyr status, now they just need to realise a cause, instead of the mindless thug shit.

    • johnblacksad

and mind you that Pac died at 25!
His legacy is like that of someone who has lived 40 or 50 years… just my op.

      • $11625525

        That’s undeniable.

    • @Real_SirJamie

Pac was actually very “lyrical” whatever your opinion that may be. Do you want a reference to a “lyrical” pac song sir? Or are unsubstantiated claims the way to go on this one? With all due respect.

      • Weedras

he never said Pac wasn’t lyrical he said “he wasn’t as lyrical as BIG” that’s his opinion of Pac…

      • @Real_SirJamie

But to listen to songs in comparison would prove he was just as if not “more lyrical” (If that is possible) than B.I.. It’s easy to have an “opinion” about something without checking sources.

      • $11625525

Hey, I think Pac was more socially conscious, I think Pac’s voice commanded more attention from the listener but I just think BIG’s style was more varying, his rhymes generally were more punchline centric, they took you on a different type of journey, his word play was second to none.

With that said, I was not a fan of “Life After Death”, I think, compared to “Ready to Die”, that album was weak. It lacked the hunger, it was just a different type of album.

I am a huge 2pac fan, as in, I have been a fan since 2Pacalypse now, I am not one who jumped on listening to Pac after he got shot, I was listening to “Soulja’s Story”, “If My homie calls”, “Brenda’s got a baby” and all them joints on my walkman back in 91//92. You wouldn’t know that but, to suggest that I don’t check sources is an incorrect assumption, I followed his career since his first album, before Juice came out. It’s probably the reason I wanted to watch “Juice”.

And for teh record, my above comment was not discounting 2Pac’s influence on hip hop, I asked an open question which seems t have been ignored due to one comment: What direction do people think hip hop would have taken had he lived, baring in mind, since his demise, every rapper name checks him, mimics his writing style and his delivery. Would it be so “Thugcentric”? Because I believe his music would have matured had he and BIG had the chance to settle their beef before he died.

        Two more things:

        1) I generally tell people that they were 2 different types of rappers, so it’s rare for me to make a comparison of this type, but it was made to emphasise my point regarding his lasting influence on hip hop.

        2) I don’t believe that the so called “East Coast/West Cost” beef killed him; that’s probably the biggest myths in Hip Hop!

      • @Real_SirJamie

That cool. But those songs don’t represent him in his prime. Listen to “F**kin With The Wrong N***a” His word play and delivery surpasses B.I.’s and most rappers today. Then songs like “Troublesome 96” show he knew what compound syllable rap REALLY was.

      • $11625525

I think “Me Against The World” is up there with the greatest Hip Hop albums ever made, it could almost be called flawless. It had everything, in hindsight, maybe “lyrical” was a poor choice of word in my original comment, I will concede that.

      • @Real_SirJamie

Hell I put “ready to die” up there in that flawless category as well. “Life after death” I would relate to Pac’s “All Eyez On Me” not really their best work, but mainstream driven and hit heavy.

      • $11625525

Very true, “Ready to Die” is definitely on that level.

      • @Real_SirJamie

You make a good point. I believe because of Pac’s last work (“better dayz”, and “still I rise”) his music would’ve become so socially driven that fans wouldn’t know how to take it. He would’ve moved all the way to the political side. B.I. on the other hand, probably would’ve become what Jay is today (with diddy’s business mind behind him) and Jay? well… he would have been a great UPS manager.
