Epic Win Of The Day: It Ain’t Trayvon, But Its Justice!

RIP Darius Simmons…

I knew about this case, but missed that the jury came back with the right answer: LIFE. Peep the report:

MILWAUKEE — A 76-year-old Milwaukee man who fatally shot his unarmed teenage neighbor was sentenced to life in prison Monday, days after telling the court he killed the boy for justice because he believed he stole his shotguns.

John Henry Spooner’s home had been burglarized two days before the May 2012 shooting, and he suspected 13-year-old Darius Simmons as the thief. So he confronted the teen, demanded that he return the guns and then shot him in the chest in front of his mother when he denied stealing anything.

Spooner’s own home surveillance cameras captured the shooting, and prosecutors aired the footage in court. A jury found Spooner guilty of first-degree intentional homicide last week, a conviction carrying a mandatory life sentence. The judge could have allowed for the possibility of parole after 20 years, but rejected that option, citing Spooner’s lack of remorse and desire to also kill the teen’s brother.

Spooner, who has lung cancer and other physical ailments, will spend the rest of his life in prison.

While in court for his sentencing, Spooner spoke in a frail voice that was sometimes difficult to hear and reiterated that he felt he had little choice but to take the law into his own hands.

“They had to rob the house,” he said. “Why’d they do that to me? … They pushed me over the edge, I guess. I don’t know. As far as being sorry, I don’t know if I did right or wrong.”

Judge Jeffrey Wagner replied sternly: “I can tell you, you did wrong. You took the life of a child.”

Justice shit. Old ignorant man getting justice shit. Senseless death shit.

  • urboss7766

Don’t push me cuz I’m close to the edge. Wonder if he really stole the old guys stuff. Shooting a teenager like that isn’t a solution. I just want to know the whole story.

  • Guest

Life sentence, what’s that gonna be about 5 or 6 years till he dies.

  • J.Erick

“It aint Trayvon, But its justice”

There’s a million TrayVon stories out here, the media just chose to magnify that case. That statement was dumb iLLseed. This is why no one on this site respects u, outside of a few d!ckriders. B!tch Ni99a

    • Dointer

Yeah that headline was terrible. Its like ahhh it wasnt Trayvon but this will do…Shame

  • Reefer Sutherland

lol dude is 3 years from death this doesn’t make up for Trayvon, we can’t get him back so nothing ever will. “I don’t know if I did right or wrong”..psh.. that says everything right there.

  • ZUBU

I hope the old bastard lives for another 100 years, now that would be justice

  • remy730

He got lung cancer; meaning he barely breathing as it is. Why not off him right here and now.

Life at his age aint that long….

    • PhilTheGreat

Lol I was about to say… So what like 10 years?

  • unspokenrespect

Sad that a man of his age took the life of a child. He’s on his death bed already so life isn’t really justice. He can burn in hell.

    • eddieknucks

Them old white cats be crazy. Shyt old cats be crazy period. They on they way out so they be like f#*k it.

In front of his mom damn

    • Escobar

That’s the worse part of the story IMHO. After mothering the child you birthed, and unfortunately saw the death of their child beyond too early.

  • Chris M. McDade

Sad story, but c’mon… What kinda professional journalist writes “DIE SLOW, HOMEY!” In an article like this? I wish AllHipHop got themselves a couple of new journalists and acted a bit more professional, and site to be taken seriously. Dont give me that “this is Hip Hop” bullshit… Look at HipHopDX. i’m not feeling the title “it ain’t trayvon but it’s justice” thats like saying saying his life doesn’t compare to trayvon’s like it was second best or something .that title could have been worded if your parents couldn’t afford jordan’s well here are the next best thing.that’s just how it reads to me.

  • Jared

Your two weeks late on this. Proof that people followed the Zimmerman case because it was popular.

    • Reefer Sutherland

the story is old but the verdict isn’t

  • don king

whats 76 n life in prison compared 2 17 n dead? there is no justice in my opinion, other than vigilantism.

  • Truth Powell

This is not comparable to Trayvon at all. Apples and oranges. This was cold blooded murder pure and simple. Kid didn’t pose any threat to the old man or was attempting to cause him harm.

    • Fareed72

How can you say its no comparison to Trayvons case? Trayvon didnt pose a threat to Zimmerman”s fat ass either.., he was walkin, mindin his own business.., an FAT-BOY rent-a-cop followed him.., had NO safety on his gun.., clearly lookin for trouble. Only thing different, is that Tray did what any other teen-age black kid noticing a strange person following him.., he whipped out that can of WHOOP-ASS..

      • Truth Powell

when I read stuff like ur response I don’t know if you’re some crazy racist troll trying to create division & hate, or if you’re just an ignorant narrow-minded dumbass.

      • TheInfiniteToker

You’re a dumbass, Zimmerman was attacked by Martin before he was killed.

      • LiddyBug86

No your the dumb ass. If I’m walking home and some man/woman, black/white/hispanic. Has been following me in his car. Than approaches me. Like most people I’m going to feel the need to protect myself. That’s what Trayvon did. And Zimmerman couldn’t hold his own. Was getting his ass whopped, grabbed the gun and killed the child. Than use previous knowledge of FL law to get away with murder!

      • TheInfiniteToker

You have no idea what happened do you? It was Martin who started the entire ordeal. Martin jumped out of nowhere and started to assault Zimmerman.

Why are you defending this little hoodlum anyway? He was nothing but a thief and drug user. He wasn’t the angel kid the media painted him out to be.

If you did a little something called research or journalism, you’d realize that Zimmerman didn’t instigate anything.

      • SBRon

It’s YOU who needs to do the research, clown!! Zimmerman racially-profiled the kid & stalked him…So how is it he “didn’t instigate anything”?

    • biafra

Because a surveillance camera captured it.

  • Dude had to be crazy!

    • Escobar

I don’t know if he was crazy, homie. I mean, his responses were definitely on both side so he was contradicting his own actions. So he had some sort of remorse between the two sides of his actions.

      • I meant Dementia / Alzheimer crazy.

      • dexter

        how bout that…

      • eddieknucks

Yup. I read somewhere that it was dementia and they was gonna use a insanity defense. Don’t know what changed.

yeah this guy still getting off easy since he only has about 10-15 years left in him

    • jbworldwide1

With Lung cancer? He’ll be dead in a year, but it would be nice if they could keep him alive just to let the cancer eat at him slowly and painfully.

  • Franky Babylon

This isn’t about Trayvon, this is about Darius Simmons and his family that has to deal with this tragedy. This is not justice, justice would be for this man to die. This man took a life, a life of a child who he thinks was guilty of stealing shotguns. With no proof, no day in court, this man decided Darius was guilty and he’s life was worth less than some shotguns and executed Darius in front of his mother. Life in prison for a man that has a few years on earth is nothing. On top of all that this man will now become a burden on the tax payers, they will have to pay for his jail housing, food and medical treatment.

    • sakiru oresanwo

If Spooner gets killed then it would be revenge not justice, though I feel yours and Darius’ family’s pain

      • Franky Babylon

What I meant was fir him to die by death penalty not by street or jail justice. Just as a prison sentence is a form of justice, so is the death penalty and that’s what this man deserves.

      • sakiru oresanwo

        Oh I get you now

    • TheInfiniteToker

I bet to you true justice would be the white man getting lynched right?

  • dexter

lmao! all this trayvon talk & brothers or killing brothers every single day… nobody talking or marching bout that. smmfh. I feel that most are full of $hit tbh IMO. Inside community killing is a go but GOD 4bid if a non community member makes a kill on “us”. Fools feel to realize that for every1 that marched is evidence of our own self demise… FOH. NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!
Somebody getting the $fit shot out of them as we chat… who gonna march? No fukn body.

  • dexter

I stays only blocks from this tragedy. This city is not like every other city. We are living in Poverty out here. But for this man to kill him (which the verdict came through on this last week; but this case is still ongoing), is a wake up call for all of us.. Young or old, you can still be killed cause of a racially identification of a minority. He knew what his intentions was.. if you see the video, he had it inside of his mind to kill this child.

For this to be labeled as Justice being served? This was a a slap on the wrist. We just finished dealing with an Police Killing of a young black man and they was justified for the killing. We, As One, Need to change up on things (Wait.. this is Life. This will continue on until We leave from this world)

I survived Milwaukee somehow. There are people out there who teach dogs to bark at Black people. You couldn’t have told me about such a thing and worst of all, it was a PUBLIC PLACE! It didn’t occur to me at first. I left saying, “Man! What did you DO to that poor dog!” A grownup explained things to me later. smdh

  • Blaq_Boi

You shoot someone for ALLEGEDLY stealing SHOTGUNS and you don’t know if you right or wrong?! I hope you get raped and dude showers your face widdit!

  • eddieknucks

He ain’t got shit to lose. He was dying anyway. Crazy ass coot.

  • D_Ably

Life don’t mean shit at that age, all it means is that dudes gonna die with food in his belly and not on his own

  • MrNoName2K

LIFE!?? Lol he already damn near on his deathbed anyway..

  • Nene

R.I.P I pray God come back soon. We are living in the last days.

  • Nene

Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY,” says the Lord.
Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.

  • LiddyBug86

He will be dead in a year and a half to two tops. We will never get to know the real extant of his punishment, because we won’t be there when GOD hands it out to the old bat!

if there was no camera, this bastard would’ve gotten off too…

  • arrdeesss

With medical treatment they give when you locked up, this cat will be lucky to make it 6 months.

Man this ain’t the same at all.

fukkin racist ol piece of human waste…it’s sad to even call this a win, this should be considered normal, the justice system is totally fukked. and what, this verdict was probably the only thing the judge/jury could give out because it was on video? wtf, shiet makes me sick
