Kendrick Lamar Speaks On His "Control" Verse For The First Time

(AllHipHop News) Kendrick Lamar may be speaking to Hot 97 tomorrow morning but Big Boy and Power 106 LA just released Kendrick Lamar’s first response to the controversy around his “Control” verse.

Speaking frankly on , the embattled MC says he was surprised by the response but was able to gain perspective by speaking to the unnamed “ACTUAL Kings of New York” during the week of the MTV Music Video Awards:

The irony of that line… for the people who actually understood it and got it.. were the actual kings of New York. Me sitting down with them this past week and them understanding It’s not about being the king of an actual coast, it’s about leaving a mark as big as Biggie. As big as ‘Pac

The full interview will be on Big Boy’s Neighborhood tomorrow morning (August 29th) at 7:20 A.M.

Lol! The only people who understood what he was saying were the kings and all the people who responded were the jesters…..Dam!! Sounds like shots were fired.

  • DJ7

Now cats that responded are going to be up in arms about this comment implying that they didn’t get it…questioning their intelligence and what not…I’m not sure how anyone could of misconstrued the bar for anything other than what he just said…I think most of the responses were for attention more so than actually gettin @ the young brotha minus Papoose’s diss

    • Celz

It was low key obvious he meant how he feels when he blacks out on the mic… Not literally.. Kinda like when your girl does some stupid shyt and you say “Imma kill this bytch”.. Kendrick said when he goes into beast mode he feels like he’s the King of Everywhere.. Which is kinda how an emcee should feel..

And I feel like Papoose was the one looking for attention he took it way too personal and some of his disses were wayyyyyy over stretched. Callin him gay cuz he sat on his families lap as a kid? Let me guess this nicca came out smokin trees and runnin trains on bytches..

      Jus my 2

      • DJ7

Papoose was absolutely seeking attention, that’s without question…what I was saying is that his response was the only one that went into all out diss mode against the young brotha…as well as seeking attention

      • He’s the new Mad Rapper now!!!! lol

      • Celz

I don’t think seekin attention is a bad thing though.. I think it was an invitation too.. King Los and Joell sure as hell got some much deserved attention..

      • Cookie

Now if he(Papoose) took his career as serious, he might get somewhere. He came out in battle mode with a BB gun.

      • dehova

        lol

      • Obi Won

        Respect!!

Uhm, theres no two ways to interpet an la kid saying ‘im the king of new york’. I get what hes saying but, it does not matter as much what hes trying to say, he still said ‘im the king of new york’ which artists from ny should respond to if they respect themselves, their craft and their city.

  • ain’t no….

now he fucked up. You look at puffy’s response, talib’s response, wale’s…mad people’s responses, he got respect from everyone he should want it from. Now he’s half steppin and we all know what big daddy kane said about that…

    dumb shit

  • brotha_man

so basically everyone that responded are complete idiots for not understanding this “inside Joke”.

When did you fall in love with Hip-Hop? is the real question that needs to be asked

    • Homegrown Chicks

Yeah, andbody who really understood lyrics weren’t offended. The morons ran straight to the booth! I blame Joe Budden’s instigating ass!!

  • Gameboi107

This dude is a herb…you never speak on a Muslim eating pork or you never speak on being king of a coast your not from….if you are not from New York or follow Islam you wouldn’t ever understand…peace

    • Surf

I don’t know. I don’t have to believe in Zeus to tell you that Greek Mythology was BS so I can’t completely agree with your statement.

      • Gameboi107

True…There are still certain things you do not do. Kendrick crossed the line with that pork line….

      • BruceLeRoyGlow

get over it you act like the pork line was that big a deal. Would it have been better if he said something on the lines of being a muslim with a white woman.

      • Gameboi107

Pork is universally non cipher…White women are only non cipher in the black muslim movement. Not in mainstream Islam. Know the facts before you speak on such topics. In certain envornments you can get your head blown off for such talk.

      • BruceLeRoyGlow

good thing neither I nor k.dot are in this environment you speak of….so therefore….get over it

      • PBM1986

If Greek Mythology was BS so was the Bible… It all came from the same source.

      • Surf

What does the bible have to do with what I said? Are you assuming that I’m Christian?

  • Shakim 30013

I wonder if kendrick Lamar is going to have a friendly lyrical battle with some of those who responded.

    • Gameboi107

I don’t see anything being friendly in hiphop…I see he tucking his tail between his legs…Papoose assassinated this guy

      • KatStone

        u sound ignorant dumb azz…

      • PBM1986

Nah… I think Pap did take it to him. Kendrick can spit… But let’s not start givin him the crown yet… I mean damn… People starting to jump on this man dick after a few tapes… and I think J Cole is lyrically waaaay colder than kendrick… And more cohesive…

      • Yeah J Cole go harder at the aggressive style rap than Kendrick. Longevity wise I see Kendrick being around longer than Cole.

    • Eyedre

      Peace God…

      • Shakim 30013

        Peace!
