Lil Wayne Says He's Ready To Retire

(AllHipHop News) Lil Wayne appeared on the debut of “Katie,” the new show from legendary host Katie Couric, and proclaimed that he was ready to retire.

He proclaimed it was time for his duties as a parent to kick in when he hits 35.

“I know I’ll be ready to retire at thirty-five because I am so ready to retire now!” said the father of four.
“Whatever they want to do. I don’t want to have no influence … ‘Hey you must do this, you must do that,'” he said. “Because I didn’t have that and because I didn’t have that I grew up to be exactly what I wanted to be and how I wanted to be. I want that for all of my kids.”

At 30, the Young Money mogul still has some entertaining to do.

He recently released Dedication 5 with DJ Drama. The opus has received mixed reviews.

I had to re-read this; dude has four kids already, and talks about what he didn’t have with his parents growing up, and wants to wait till he’s 35 to be a parent? Am I the only one who can see something wrong with this? Some of those kids will be upwards of 10 and older and then he wants to be active in their lives then? You can throw all the money you want at a child, but if you’re not involved from day one (I know there are circumstances that can change this), then what is the point really? And what is five more years going to prove? If you’re going to be a parent, then be one form the day the child is born, not when it’s convent for your schedule, or your take on when you’re ready. It pisses me off to see children who are in broken homes, when the actual kids in the homes are the parents themselves. Dude grow the f*ck up, you can’t buy a childhood, you can’t buy memories with your child, you can’t buy that can of “act right”, or be a shoulder for the child when you’re the child. Dudes like him give those men and women that are struggling to get it right with their kids a seriously unneeded bad rap.

your looking into it to deep … hes in his kids lives but as a working father .. post 35 … he will still be in thier lives but now as a retired father …… but i will say one thing this dude is fooling himself if hes just going to let his kids be who they want to be LOL … kids def need guidance especially spoiled rich kids they are the worse cause they can easily start leaning on drugs and that lifestyle … you have the oppurtunity to guide your kids to greatness … be a parent NOT A BEST FRIEND !!

You have a point, and I could be reading into it too deep, but if you’re going to be a father, there is no retirement date to start the job. I know working fathers who are pulling double shifts to make it work and still make it to the games and recitals. This ninja more than likely has a nanny doing what he’s supposed to be doing. I’m with you on this, but I just don’t like the image that black men have in society as “men” who can make babies, but aren’t MAN enough to be with them or be an active part of their lives( I already know there are exceptions to this). I don’t like the stereotype, and it’s soo rampant, that some give it a pass, but the child gets no pass. Just rantin man.
