Hip-Hop Rumors: The Next Hip-Hop Reality Show Is…

Aw shoooooot! I got an exclusive for you people in the place to be. I got word that there is a new reality show coming from Mona Scott Young. She’s the genius that has tapped into the ratchet lives of Hip-Hop’s men and women. But, she has apparently got a new angle. Seems like Mona has an unlikely reality show coming in the form of Hot 97! As we’ve seen….through the YEARS, there is a lot of drama up there at Hot 97, most recently the Mister Cee debacle. But, I have been informed that a lot of this stuff is now being filmed and turned into a reality show for the worlds biggest Hip-Hop and R&B station. Crazy!

On the other side of the coin, KDAY the original station for Hip-Hop out there in Cali is about to be shut down! I don’t know if you know, but KDAY has been putting it down for Hip-Hop for a very long time and still does. However, from what I have been told, they were sold to a foreign investor (Chinese I think) in an effort to stave off closing their doors. Well, the Chinese investor is now pulling the plug and KDAY is looking for money to help itself out! I don’t know if they are going to be able to do it. They are talking about KDAY turning into a CHINESE radio station! They got HOOD WINKED!!!!!!

If you love Hip-Hop, hit up the Facebook page!

Nowadays, they are asking for none other than Dr. Dre to save KDAY! Maybe Hot 97 can film it and/or buy it!

where’s Snoop, and the rest of the OG’s in this? I think this would be a perfect marketing tool for them. Now they could put Cali artists out and not play the BS games the regular stations do.

      • “They control companies, lock countries, we got nice car & sneaker monies!” Immortal Tech – Peruvian Cocaine

      • Matt Swan

True but read what I wrote Dior. This could happen…what do you think? Maybe move into a small company, keep the airwaves on permanent lock and build it up?

      • Indeed, KDOT could tap Dre & Iovine, but that would defeat the purpose.

The radio needs advertising to play, but with the name KDAY already established, KDOT is the obvious choice.

That ‘chet would be a MAJOR power move!

I wonder how much it cost?

      • It’s amazing what rappers really spend their money on….Even a dude like Money Mayweather could have made such a purchase possible and really help some black folks out. But yall know the story, these super rich black dudes aren’t about shit but their own personal gain.

      • O please rappers just sit a talk about “the man this, the man that” but when they get some good money they are not willing to build and allow Hip-Hop to be taken back by the rappers and not the corporation.

      • Matt Swan

Agreed, but this is just too damn easy. Rappers have always had issues trying to get their music out to the masses over the airwaves and here is the perfect opportunity to do it. That wouldn’t oversaturate the market, because rather than depending on commercials and market surveys, they could just play the music, and allow the public to make a choice. This would be extra good for the underground rappers to make a local buzz to themselves and maybe make it out. And this would be a black owned business and to keep overhead low, hire interns, maybe partner up with a local school or Uni and let the students get credit for work there. It’s almost impossible to loose in this IMO. A complete win win for the owners, the students, and it’ll give these kids a positive outlook and something to do, that could pay off. Hell I just wrote a very basic proposal in here, all someone has to do is get it to the right ear. EDOG I KNOW you know some folks, and if anyone else does too, let’s make a negative a positive through this.

      • I support this movement.

      • hoeyuno

        That’s a good idea.

  • Hot 97 is owned by Emmis Communications, they are just a part of a much bigger network, in other words Hot97 don’t have the power to buy another radio station, Emmis Communications does.

  • Dhz30

kday the last real hip hop radio station in cali

  • Crenshaw on my shirt

I don’t even listen to the radio no more but it’ll be a sad day in LA if KDAY got shut down

Dre ain’t helping. It don’t benefit him. He not about to help out the culture. Not what he do. He takes, not give. Sorry, I’m just upset.

  • hoeyuno

Why can’t LA keep there scene together. Cali is home to some of the greatests talents this culture has seen but can’t hold down there hip hop station. I guess Kendrick was right about LA not supporting LA.. KDAY should be as big as hot 97 but is not even on there radar.
