Jimmy Kimmel Speaks On His Beef-Ending Interview With Kanye West

(AllHipHop News) On Wednesday (October 9th), Kanye West appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and addressed their differences which stemmed from Kimmel’s satire of Kanye West’s interview with Zane Lowe.

In an Q&A with Grantland, Kimmel admits to having a better understanding of Kanye’s “frustration”:

I think [Kanye] said it best. I think he said that he reads and sees a lot of things that frustrate him, and the difference is that in this case he was able to call me, whereas he isn’t able to call TMZ or whatever it is that bothers him.

jKimmel admitted to not viewed the Zane Lowe interview in full before his reenactment with child actors and actually did not see the full interview until the day before Kanye’s appearance on the show, When he did view the entire interview, Kimmel says he could understand Kanye’s view point on certain topics but did not invalidate the criticism they received:

I saw that he was very serious, and he felt like he’d made some good points — I’m sure that’s debatable, depending on your point of view. He then felt like I’d diminished it by making a joke out of it.

One poignant moment in the interview comes when the interviewer, Grantland staff writer Alex Pappademas mentioned that Kimmel has done similar parodies of artists such as Lady Gaga and then asked if Kimmel understood it was different because of Kanye’s race:

I don’t think the fact that he’s black has anything to do with it. In fact, I didn’t know he was black until you brought that up. I just think it’s about somebody who jokes around and somebody who doesn’t. Kanye’s not a jester. He’s speaking seriously, and I guess it wounded him somehow.

The interview with Kanye West helped increase the ratings of The Jimmy Kimmel Show Live! as it received a 1.2 rating in 1.2 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 age group demographic in comparison to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno‘s 0.7 rating and The Late Show with David Letterman’s 0.5 rating. This fact has not gone unnoticed by Kimmel:

The lesson is, if you get yourself in a situation like this you will get huge ratings on your television show.

  • Tough call for Ye’, do you reward the fugg ‘chet with an interview & ratings boost or ignore a chance to fix ‘chet?

What a male diva and a bitch, (no hate it is what it is “he said that he reads and sees a lot of things that frustrate him”) and he claims to be the new Pac. Damn look at rappers these days they want the money and fame but can’t laugh off a skit or ignore it like gaga does. Why so serious and sensitive Ye? aka new Pac without the gun shots and court cases yet Pac maintained through it all for the most part #SMH

    • Dave

most rappers these days are pussys that’s why, old school is where it’s at…

  • brotha_man

kanye is a sensitive cat! that skit had me rolling

” i presented leather jogging pants to fendi and they said, no. How many Muthafuc*as have u done seen with leather jogging pants? where is the culture at? where is the culture at?”

    • LOL~N

    • LaurynHernandex

lol I’m a jogger and I couldn’t run a mile in no leather anything lol I be in sweats dying and they cotton

      • ItGoesDownINtheDM

i dont think they were made for runners lol …

  • John Q. Public

His interviews lately reminded me a lot of pac’s old interviews… only pac would speak on poverty, oppression, education, and real shit. Kanye’s be ranting about Gucci and prada and fashion.

    • man dont even mention pac in the same sentence as kanye thats disrespectful.

      • Dave

totally, kanye is a D & thats being generous when pac is an A+++

    • LaurynHernandex

I don’t listen to Kanye anymore than I need to and I don’t need to lol

    • ItGoesDownINtheDM

he actually is speaking about poverty and education and oppression … did you actually listen and watch the video or did you just read the headlines ?? his means of rising above that is getting into fashion … in addition he is also speaking about oppression … you may not relate to it because its on a level you prob cannot imagin or even think it exist cause kanye has this image already as being successfull and rich in wich you are sort of crashing his boat into the painting instead of allowing the him to float on if thats what he wants to do …

  • the entire interview was retareded. kanye thinks he is a genius lol… he so mad that the fashion world doesnt bend to one knee in front of him… nigga go make your own shit..

    • ^^And that my friend, is it in a nutshell.

    • ItGoesDownINtheDM

not bend @ one knee but just give him a chance to do his thing … its sound small today because it seems like the skys the limit ouchea for black folks seeing that we got a black president and all but we still face trials and tribulations just cause its fashion it shouldnt be looked down upon … especially seeing that kanye is fighting to be a boss in that game and not a pawn ….. and dont frown because the music industry makes people rich but the fashion industry can build empires …. dont take lightly what kanye is trying to acheive dont be jaded ………

      • fashion is for homos. kanye is fighting to have OTHER fashion companies come to HIM to do HIS designs. Thats not how it works. I will take it lightly because its a very silly thing. You cant not change the world with expensive clothes that gay people think look cool.

      • pauleyPee

Damn bro, if your overall analysis of the fashion world stems around anti-homosexual sentiment, your general understanding and overall economic outlook is bad.

      • the fashion world and economic outlook huh… F you. wear a hanes t shirt nigga

      • ItGoesDownINtheDM

lol right tho im not even sure if i want to respond to that … that like saying rap music is for Black people …. lol ……… you just cant generalize it like that … altho from a far it kind of does look like that ………………………………………….. kanye is trying to break them barriers … he exposed the rap game as far as the garmets goes … THE BEST A NIGGA CAN DO IS PUT SOME WORDS ON A TSHIRT !!!!!!!!!! and in reality THATS ALL THEY LET US DO !!!!!!! hustlegang richgang ymcmb snowman etc….. kanye ouchea trying to knock doors down … #salute!!
