Hip-Hop Rumors: Are DMX & Swizz Working On A Return?

Seems like DMX is about to make another stab at a it. On XXL, they posted a picture and message and it suggested that Swizzy and Dark Man X were working again.

Swizz Beatz and DMX have an historic relationship. The duo were part of a legendary run under the Ruff Ryders’ movement, churning out hits such as “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem,” “Money, Cash Hoes,” “Party Up (Up In Here)” and many more. Well, it seems like the Swizzy and Dark Man X are looking to collaborate again. Taking to Instagram, the 35-year-old producer snaps a photo with a brand new snapback. The person on the left is wearing a bucket hat with the same lettering. Can he help get X back on his feet?

  • If anybody can do it… Swizz can. The game BADLY needs a DMX to come re-align shit.

    • Jared

      Maybe like 7-8 years ago.

      • Maybe you read my post out of context?? The “if” implied I was being optimistic. 7-8 years ago he was basically on the verge of retiring with “Grand Champ”. I don’t even think THEN he needed assistance. He was good… Consistently going multi-platinum with every drop. DMX was that dude.

  • BibatheDiva

I think they can do it.

  • brotha_man

I always will be an x supporter….hell, the man taught me how to pray.

  • Papi Peligro

If anybody copped the DMX mixtapes and bootleg drops you’d know he can’t even breathe anymore. He’s like gasping for air and it makes him sound mad weird. If he gets back in shape and can sound like himself then it will be hot.

I bought undisputed last year off of strict loyalty. His albums and Nastradamus was on repeat when I was youngin on the bus, having to go through different hoods and fight on some Warriors sh*t just to get to school and work when I was 15-17. Thank God I got that hoopty at 17. Always gonna support DMX.

    • In DMX’s voice : “X gonna give it to Ya’! Fugg waiting for you to get it on your own, X gonna deliver to Ya’!”

      • Heart of a Slave, Blood of a k

Man, more like One More road to cross, One more risk to take. Then when I finally got on the bus, I would listen to project windows on Nas album to settle down. Unless I would fight on the bus too then I’m sitting in the back, putting on my brass knuckles and bumping “get at me dog”. Its funny cause Im a very straight laced fellow now and cats will tell my 18 year old cousins stories and they cant believe it. I was the oldest, I had aunts barely older than me. So their kids dont know. I’m so glad that shit is over. Don’t see how people glamorize trap life. I was fed up with it by 16.

      • One more road to cross was my ‘chet, but I chastised my seed for singing it, because “I didn’t get a dime, but at least I got up out of there”, and maybe that incident kept him on the str8 path, as opposed to dudes who caught a body…but didn’t get any $$.

No disputing X & how they did him dirty out in Az.
        I’ll always support!

      • Heart of a Slave, Blood of a k

Hell yeah, educate the youngins. I was just explaining to my nephews why I didnt like Marlo’s character in the Wire. It turned into a discussion with like 20 dudes at the barbershop. I ran around in the mid 90’s and that was the changing where dudes went from, “there is rules in this game” to “the only rule is get money”. All my Old heads who schooled me came up in the 70’s but mostly 80’s and trying to get across certain themes and morals to this generation is harder than ever. I have one live wire in my family who is really out here. The rest of them, I listen to their stories while Future “Sh!t” plays in my head. And I dont even listen to future like that.

      • I came up in the 80’s, and ran around in the 90’s, when the rules 1st started changing.

It’s a dirty game, which is why I don’t play it.
On the business tip….it makes sense to snitch.

Not trying to be the one that them boys turn into something I’m not, so I don’t put myself in that position.

Broke & Free is good enough for me….although we’ll never truly be free since we haven’t recognized slavery.

      • BATMANfromDaHood

dude should put out a novel.

      • Heart of a Slave, Blood of a k

Story has already been told in different forms by different folk. It would seem derivative. I thought about it when I found out that a lot of inner city dudes dont necessarily have the same experiences. Wish I could show mainstream society, the forgotten America, in a way that resonates but they’ll probably miss the point.

Wishful thinking but no. Both of their times is up.

  • nastinupe

No no no… Rap is now singing and Drake and weird sounds and mellowed out sensitive music. X is out of his element. It’s not 98.

    • LaurynHernandex

Yeah,Kendrick and drake think singing is cool now. THEY sensitive punks!

  • The times are different, youtube, isntagram, everyone has a camera phone. News footage being turned into songs. There isn’t even a need for a record label. Just garage band, a camera and the internet. I’m in Xs corner, I pray he can bring some substance in this day and age, but I would venture to say that even if Dr. Dre dropped Detox, it would have issues. I hope X does well…

  • LexxBrown

I believe in DMX. If crackhead is all you could think about when commenting about DMX, I think some of you need to check out some others rappers habits they are no better.

    • hoeyuno

No doubt. These kids think ecstasy and Molly are made from children’s laughter and butterflies..

X man if you can do then DO IT. Don’t come out with a ton of collabo’s unless it’s with those that were rydin with you in the first place. But on a more serious note, man you cannot expect to have the same level of success that you enjoyed in the past if you refuse to put the past and the trash behind you. You are a God fearing man, a father, and a son. Fcuk Ivanna and what happened on that show, YOU need to show your family that X is really gonna give it to em, and let go of the drugs, yes men, the enablers, the jump off’s and all the things that have held you back. You are a legend in the Hip Hop game not rap, and as a legend you have a rep to keep, a rep to let go, and a new rep to make. The time is now X. You showed you could do it in “Belly” at the end, make that ending real life and lets stop X from “Slippin” and let’s see X showin the game how to really “Keep your sh*t the hardest”.

    • Jame Shivar

Good shit homie! I was gonna speak but you took the words out my mouth….. X is still the best. And LexxBrown that’s some true shit too bruh…….All these new “Rappers” out here sippin and fuckin

  • The game needs new talent….These old ass rappers are broke down…It’s time for a change….We need to invest in the hood and bring some more raw talent with fresh faces.

    • Matt Swan

Invest in the hood? Da Fcuk? Ok invest in the hood and get new talent; we found Chief Keef, Trinidad James, 2 Chainz (but he’s not really from the hood), and a bunch of other sorry a$$ rappers that can swallow 16 inches but can’t spit 16 bars. X isn’t broke down at all. X lost his way, and has had no one there to show him the way back. If and when X comes back true to form, there wouldn’t a rapper out there that would go toe to toe with the man. When X said he gonna give it to ya, you could take that to the bank. What we have here is a legend in need of help; real help not some BS harpo show, not multiple prison bids, not spending his money on ish that has NO ROI other than a nut or high, but in need of someone he trusts to bring him back to the front. I’m an East Coast man, and I feel NY Hip Hop, and X could spark the renaissance of true NY Hip Hop. Bring it all back in line sans Diddy, puffy, Sean Combs aka Birdman North, P Diddly. Hell X can come back with Cash Money and Marvelous and I’d be happy as long as it’s the X I remember. And before we start this KONY, there is only ONE KONY and that is Christopher Walken and he died at the end of the movie.

My Oliva Pope Plan For DMX

    1) Rehab
2)Hire the Real Olivia Pope (hey Paula Deen Did it …heard any new news about Paula?) Exactly
    3) Take DMX in the middle of nowhere and get him in shape. He needs to get his health in order and his body ripped, He needs that Man of Steel workout or the Jason Stratham workout plan

    4) He needs a vocal coach / speech therapist to regain his diction and the clarity of his gravel voice. No more slurring his words.

    5) Hit the studio with Dr.Dre, Havoc, Swizz, Kanye, RZA, Grease, The Neptunes, & timbaland to produce It’s Dark & Hell is Still Hot

    6) But his new ripped body and heathy look on the cover of Men’s Health, Mens’ fitness & the rolling stone. In these mags he will talk about getting off of the drugs, the alcohol, the rigors of his custom work out plan, having people around him that care and his renewed relationship with his son.

    7) Olivia Pope would arrange a sit down with Oprah followed by Dr.Drew and DrPhil but this time he will actually be on the shows for something good.

    8) Promote PROMOTE PROMOTE the album for six 6 months before it drops.

    9) Stage a press conference. He will appear with a fresh bald head, groomed face, clean finger nails and that suit he wore in exit wounds. e will sound strong when he talks. He will discuss ending his beef with Jay-Z, his new tour and he will reveal his list of headliners for the tour. They include the Lox, NAS, Mobb Deep, Redman,Method Man, Beanie Sigel & The Game

    10) He will not wear dingy wife beaters in public ever.

    11) He will land a new role on one of the cop/csi dramas transition back to movies, raise his children and fade to black.

    That’s what’s up…and I’d sport the hat X is wearing..
