Popular South African Rapper Mistakenly Shot By Police

(AllHipHop News) Award winning South African Hip Hop artist Khuli Chana was shot by local police in a Johannesburg suburb Monday morning after authorities mistook the performer for a kidnapping suspect. Chana, whose real name is Khulane Morule, stopped at a gas station to fill up his car before traveling to a performance in Pretoria. It just happens that the station he chose to use was the same one selected as the site for a ransom drop off.

Police on the scene were informed to look out for a grey BMW as the kidnapper’s car. Chana was driving a blue BMW at the time. After failing to stop at an unmarked police barricade, the rapper’s vehicle was hit when officers fired six “warning shots.” Chana was struck in the finger and back. The new father is currently recovering at home after being discharged from the hospital.

“The reality of the matter is this is police brutality,” said Refiloe Ramogase, Chana’s manager. “The police need to be more circumspect when they decide to use lethal force.”

The real kidnapper is reportedly in custody and the victim was released. The incident is under investigation by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate.

Chana took home three trophies at the South African Music Awards in May including Album of the Year for Lost in Time. It was the first time a Hip Hop artist won the coveted award in its 19 year history.

so your saying blacks dont discriminate/prejudice against other blacks?

      • @Real_SirJamie

        No.

      • No they do, but when another black person is prejudice against this own kind we don’t speak about it, we look the other way.

      • Brooklyn Stoop

thats not true. but if thats how you feel then have at it

      1. They’re are a good number of white in South Africa, the Afrikaners. 2. When I was in SA last year there was a situation where an older white man vandalized a derogatory and controversial painting of Pres. Jacob Zuma. The white guy just got pulled to the side. Then a younger black man further vandalized it, before he was headbutted and slammed to the ground by a black security guard. Not saying the the guard was racist, but it brings to question why did the white man get off so easy for doing the same thing? 3. In Africa in general, they don’t see everyone as being black, they have tribalism instead of racism. Ever heard of the Hutu and the Tutsi of Rwanda?

      • After reading what you said about getting “Headbutted” I am just happy to be an American…lol

“Then a younger black man further vandalized it, before he was headbutted and slammed to the ground by a black security guard. Not saying the the guard was racist”
why wouldnt you say the guard was racist? blacks nowadays do the bidding for whites. so it aint going to be a white person that gonna diss african arts, in fact they might hold it to high esteem
its the blacks that will diss it
we are in a sick state right now…………..

I wouldn’t say the man was racist because I don’t know what was in the man’s head when he headbutted him.Maybe he just failed twice as a security guard and was pissed. And it wasn’t African art that was being vandalized, it was a white artist who made the painting. In fact, the painting sparked some protest in the streets and brought up racial tension. The white man vandalized the painting to hopefully quell racial tension. A white man trying to help black and white relations. And the black man vandalized it because it was derogatory to the President, who is of the same party as Nelson Mandela and third to serve since the 94 elections.

So they shot him up at a gas station!!?? Is that not a dumb idea??

  • TimeWillTellu1

6 warning shots lol damn! lol

  • Thenatural503

He didn’t stop at a police barricade why is anyone defending this dude? If he would of stopped none of this would of happened plain and simple.

    • sowell19

      It was unmarked.

      • Thenatural503

But there were police there right? I mean they did shoot at his car so there had to be obvious police presence?

      • sowell19

They weren’t after him. Besides, the cops are the ones who don’t know their colors.

    • Defending him for what? Africans against Africans? which team are you on.It’s hard for folks to pick a skin color…lol

    • hoeyuno

So for not stopping at a road block, you should get shot????
