Diddy To Star In “King of New York” Remake

(AllHipHop News) The Late Notorious B.I.G. often referred to himself as the “King of New York” and now his former label head is a part of a remake the 90’s cult classic of the same name.

1990’s “King of New York” starred Christopher Walken, Laurence Fishburne and Wesley Snipes. It was an unlikely film adopted by Hip-Hop, but it caught ablaze, resulting in Biggie calling himself the “Black Frank White” after the lead character.

Sean “Diddy” Combs is joining forces with director Brian Grazer to bring the movie back to the big screen. According to the New York Post, Diddy could take on the lead role, which originally was Walken’s.

The movie chronicled a drug kingpin’s return to the streets after a lengthy bid in jail and how he intends to take back his terrain.

Grazer told the Post, “Sean optioned the rights to remake ‘King of New York’ for two years. The film is a cult classic, and it will be great to remake it. Our version won’t be exactly the same, but will have the same hard-core gangster feel. Sean wants to be in it, he was amazing in ‘Monster’s Ball,’ and such strong characters sit perfectly with him.”
The pair expect to start the film next year.

That was a star stud movie that no one knows what the hell it was about or even the plot. But hey, that was the 90’s. They can’t do it any worse then it was made so I digs Diddy getting in on this.

    • ‘Chet! KONY is a classic!

Diddy will play the ‘chet out of this role though.

The Carlito’s remake was terrible! This will fail badly!

    • Terrance Goodman

      That shit was laughable

  • ZUBU

Man they need to leave that movie alone, it was a classic! It came out around the same time as New Jack City, but did not have the publicity or hype at the time but became a cult classic. Biggie really helped prop it with lines like “I’m the black Frank White, Frankie Baby, Francis S. White, etc.)

    • Nukirb

This is Diddy’s weak attempt to rewrite history with him in it. It’s pathetic.

  • Terrance Goodman

Straight to family dollar movie diddy can fuk up a hang over

  • Golgo 13

  • RNMurray

BOOO Christopher Walken will always be Frank White…..You can’t change that.

  • Give the opportunity to someone else, we need fresh faces…Tired of this, I feel sorry for new rappers and actors because they the older ones are taking over everything with no room for newbies.

  • Brian Andrew Smith

this going to be just as good as diddy’s sequel to carlito’s way

  • digitallife

Some things are just better left alone…damn shame.

  • Immortal

Didn’t he learn from the second Carlito’s Way? Diddly sucked ass in that, so he’s going to ruin another classic?

  • King Cold

Lmao watch this turn out like when he auditioned to be james bond

  • Super_Villain

Nah, do a remake of The Naked Gun and play Frank Drebin instead.

INow I am not being racist….I am simply saying that it sounds a bit
controversial to cast an African American in the role of a primarily
Caucasian character. To me it kind of like sounds like black-face or

’m just saying that it sounds controversial to cast an African American
in a Caucasian role and this doesn’t mean I am racist. It’s just
well…P.Diddy is a rapper and rappers don’t technically have much of a
record when it comes to appearances in movies. Ice Cube did a couple
of kids comedy movies and that was it. The only rapper that comes to
mind is Eminem and that’s because 8 Mile was a very well done movie.
