Young Jeezy To Def Jam: Either Get My Album Right Or I’m Leaking It

(AllHipHop News) Twitter has given a voice to the voiceless, a name to the nameless and an international microphone for the loquacious celebrities to vent. Young Jeezy decided to indulge in social media venting to address his distaste with how Def Jam has handled his as-of-yet untitled new album.

In his Twitter diatribe, Jeezy claimed that there was mismanagement on his upcoming album on the part of Def Jam:

Jeezy also implied that Bary Weiss, current Def Jam CEO/Chairman of The Island Def Jam Music is not working as hard as former CEO/Chairman, L.A. Reid:

In the end, Jeezy pulled the one move every artist who has felt they are constrained by their label has threatened to do since the dawn of (record business) time: Leak the album himself.

Jeezy announced that his upcoming album was “coming soon” in September and the song “In My Mind” would serve as the first single. The last Jeezy song to chart on Billboard was 2012’s “R.I.P.” featuring 2 Chainz.  A point of contention for Jeezy could be that his rival and labelmate Rick Ross’ new album, Mastermind has not only been announced and promoted with singles but has had multiple release dates before its final December 17th date was selected.

Bite that hand that feeds ya and see what happens.

    • golder1

Somone else would sign him. Def Jam is know for not putting in the work for every artist. Method Man back in the day had a problem with Def Jam as well as may other artist

  • RAMADAwhite

jeezy don’t need def jam aint he a vp at atlantic anyways? won’t he just cut the contract and move himself over to atlantic

    • Al Samba

      it aint that easy

    • Casor_G

      VP…ahahahahahahah

  • Consdered Hip Hop Critic

Let the music speak for itself. Get off twitter and get your promo and ground game going. You ain’t on the Jay Z gravy train no mo. Real Talk.

    • golder1

When has Jeezy ever need Jayz. Jayz was Pres of Def Jam for a short time and had nothing to do with Jeezy realizing success. Jeezy music is just as good if not better than Ross. Ross has never had a platinum solo album. The difference is Ross floods the ariwaves with music, Jeezy is more selective when it come to what he puts out.

  • Jeezy Has Yet To Let Down…But I Think Its Because Ross Dropping Another BS Album On Dec. 17th So They Holding Jeezy’s Album Back.

  • Ike’s Mood

ross has his hands in that too! looks like you lost jeezy

    #GetThatGOOD

Is he “OK” to do this under Def Jam?

  • Immortal

I hope with this album he stops with the “trap” crap, and shows some progress and maturity in his rhymes. Dude more than likely hasn’t sold a brick in years so that talk is over and done with now. Jeezy might talk that mess, but if he doesn’t get it together his album could be leaked by someone and it won’t be him.

    • Mega Don

shut yo bitch ass up nobody wanna hear homosexual rap i wanna hear that raw shit

      • $18592567

        lmbao…

      • Immortal

        Seriously?

      • Papi Peligro

Sorry dawg you was kind of sounding like you wanted him to come out in some tight pants and talk about we all doo doo the same.

      • dee

        lol

      • So it’s either trap shit or homo shit, that’s the only two options for an artist? He’s supposed to keep rehashin the same tired and stale ass topics he been rehashin his entire career? C’mon fam, that shit’s played. I don’t mind Jeezy’s music from time to time but personally I get tired of hearin about the same shit everytime he spits.

      • Mega Don

word you right either way this music shit is promoting falsehood to our communitys i just wanna hear hard beats and dope lyrics i just like good music but at the same time i agree with what you saying that trap shit is getting lame

  • dannyboy

This means his careers almost done…happens to most artists eventually. T.I. will be in the same boat. Time to go independent

    • $18592567

T.I. in a different boat bruh… He lookin at like a 40 million dollar deal when he sign a new contract… I don’t think he’s worth it, but watch it happen.

      • dannyboy

Wow 40 mil, he needs to take that money and run before they change their mind

      • $18592567

        ctfu

      • So im the only one who thought Troubleman was a dope album…now i didnt care for that Hustle Gang Mixtape but by no means has T.I. Ever been a garbage rapper.

    • Charter

Jeezy’s sound/content is no longer unique and he never was a “lyricist”… he’s definitely on the tail end of his run.

T.I. is gonna be straight for a minute.

    • Obi Won

Jeezy will still be around, but I see him going down a level, where artist like Gucci Mane & Juicy J fall in. Back to the trap level, bc mainstream is a wrap.

Even though he’s trash now, TI will still be around, especially with his new deal approaching. He just one song away with Justin Timberlake or Robin Thicke.

  • $18592567

If Jeezy would’ve acted like he knew Meech when it was all bad then he wouldn’t be in this situation… How a fraud like Ross gon’ make BMF…

    Ghost of Pimp C

  • Sean Power

one more so call gangster and so call boss on twitter b*tch like a school girl on twitter

  • 1hiphophiphop

I thought rap was just a hobby to him

  • Def Jam ain’t stupid. They ain’t pressed to spend money on Jeezy’s music and he aint grinding like these other artists. He ain’t did shit to promote the album himself: no singles, no videos, no mixtape, no features, no interviews, no nothing.

    • dee

you know how many mixtapes of jeezy has came out since his last album?

      • he did 1-2 features too bitch, that aint what im talking about.

      • dee

bitch? yall INTERNET nigg@s to tough for me

    • R.I.P. ft 2 Chainz was killing the radio for a min but i agree he wasnt interviewing too heavy but usually artist do the interview circuit when the album has a release date

  • Dadon850

Jeezy music sells, Ross don’t. This is a head scratcher.

    • Suava

Lmao Ross just might buy every copy of the new album since freeway said that

    • ItGoesDownINtheDM

ross dont sell but hes well networked with big $$$$ the jayz and puffys … and connected with the youngsters … thats enuff to keep them labels on his d&ck lol … he gave jayz an hit on his last album … def masterminding but you right he dont sell just well connected ….. sadily most dont peep how far good relationships in this game can get you …

      • He’s well connected with them peoples, they ain’t gonna LET him fall off til he’s no longer valuable to their cause.

Jeezy dont care bout #hisfans. Well, maybe he does, because they generate $$$ for him.

  • Artists need to stop relying on the label….Yes you have a contract to forfill but rappers really need to start doing their own thing….Jeezy already has a fanbase so why not sell the music directly?

    • Freebe Jackson

because he still in a contract… easy to say rappers shouldn’t rely on labels but its 3.6 billion rappers and if they don’t sign to a major at some point, most will never see success. Just check out WSHH…so many unsigned artist post each day and they have the lowest views. People don’t usually support or even check for an artist until they get the major label stamp or another successful artist co-signs

      • I feel ya but all that does is show how pathetic people in general are though, that they need to be told what to like. These helmet-wearin “fans” these days act like they weren’t born with somethin called a brain that’s capable of discoverin things for itself and makin its own decisions.

      • Freebe Jackson

exactly….but its also that there are to many rappers and not enough fans….If you rap and you not signed…I rap and I’m not signed, no matter who has more skills we in the same boat because neither of us is signed and the person with more skills can’t convince the other that he deserves success more….plus with 3.67 trillion rappers it’s hard to listen and support everybody….so lazy people let the majors tell them who is hot …lol

      • LOL True indeed…I remember a time when cats used to spit cuz it’s what they truly loved, now they just do it cuz it’s the thing to do and anyone who can rhyme cat with hat thinks they’re ready for the booth. You’re right, these “fans” are lazy as hell these days…back when I was a young lad I used to spend hours at every music store in town searchin out the shit that WASN’T backed by majors, that’s what made the whole experience so enjoyable.

  • 7yoyo7

Gibbs jumped out of this ship, YG will be next….

    • cyrus langhorne

YG is having success with cte tho…

      • luckyane

no sir he’s exactly where he always was he just gotta pay someone else…key is they both on def jam so if the boss get no push what YG gettn

  • Obi Won

Its wild how over the years it becomes less about “rap being for fun” to it being a priority. Then again, maybe it is for the fans. At some Jeezy probably developed a love for the fans. Hopefully dude only took to twitter to get fans to demand whatever this album is. Kind of the way everyone wanted Nas’ Lost Tapes 2 released. Damn that was Def Jam too. lol
