Artist Makes Sculpture of Jay Z Made Out Of CareBears In Support Of Barneys Collection

(AllHipHop News) Do not let the pricey new Barneys collection fool you, Jay Z cares and one artist wanted to manifest that in a sculpture. In support of Jay Z’s decision to stay with Barneys amidst controversy, sculptor Daniel Edwards crafted a statue of Jay Z surrounded and sprouting from Care Bears.

The sculpture, entitled “Jay Z Shares and Cares” and was revealed earlier today (November 22nd), a few days after Jay Z’s November 20th launch of his Barneys collection

Edwards reasons in a press release for the sculpture that Jay Z’s profession, paired with the philanthropy of donating proceeds to his charity, make his continued loyalty to Barneys impressive:

Jay Z is an entertainer, not a civil rights activist. He defended future college funds by standing up to the criticism

Daniels has a history of creating provocative art and earlier this year created a sculpture of Kim Kardashian’s naked pregnant body entitled “L.A. Fertility”. Spectators were encouraged to rub the sculpture’s pregnant belly for good luck.

They made this NlGGA A clown… this dude, respect and legacy is tarnished….better be glad he got money…

    • Executive

      How is his legacy tarnished?

      • ZUBU

Because he’s a parody of his former self. Correction: He is a parody of the former image he use to project. This mess is just a farce.

      • johnblacksad

He looks more like the real deal to me!

      • ZUBU

Bro, Jay is a really good entertainer and that is the only thing real about him in my opinion.
Now Oprah is real! Oprah got her paper without selling her soul, and she has been very active using her power and influence to help the masses (not just helping blacks, but people in general).

      • TALK_BOSS

Oprah real?? Rich yes but I don’t see real

      • dee

I cant remember the last time i heard oprah help the community

      • ZUBU

I’m not privy to every thing Oprah does, but she played a huge role in getting our President Obama elected and re-elected. Essentially she played a large role in protecting the masses from John McCain, and Mitt Romney. She used her money, power, and influence to get Prez Obama elected. She has given everyone in her audience new cars before, primarily single mothers who needed that hand. She has built schools in various parts of the world. Shall I continue on?
Bro I strongly suggest you step reading/current events game up before you speak on what Oprah has done!

      • Guest

and you not speaking on what she has done? Lets be real thats was a network thing for oprah you scratch my back i “obama” scratch yours … you havnt seen them talking to oprah about her saying obama turned on her because her network was failing and obama didnt come on the show or something to help ratings for the network she saying i helped him get in office etc … what does that tell you about that move her playing a “huge role” in getting him in?

      • dee

Yeah where are these schools, cars in the community because they closing schools like crazy since shes doing so much in your eyes

      • ZUBU

Bro she can’t do everything, but in my opinion she is playing her role. Now other people with money, power, and influence need to do their part. hmm.. Jay, Hova, Jigga, etc. can do more. Puff Daddy, Puffy, P. Diddy, Diddy, etc. can do more.

Now I tell you who does do quite a bit: Will Smith, Jada Smith, Fresh Prince. They do some good things with their money, power, influence. Hell Jamie Foxx puts in work for us. Master P puts in work. I can name a lot of celebs who put in work, for me Jay is not on that list. That brotha just want to make paper, nothing wrong with his agenda. Just don’t front like you trying to help people. I know he got the SC Foundation, child please he prolly is not giving 1% of his money, power, influence, or time to that endeavor. That is not giving that is a facade. Just my opinion brotha, you are certainly free to disagree.

      • dee

        i agree 100%

      • johnblacksad

        Oprah’s presence alone is charity!
So is Obama’s, so is Beyonce’s, so is Hov’s!

      • dee

thats some bullshit i heard jayz say that but think about that statement thats like saying im better than you so when i come around you should appreciate my presence … in a kind way

      • brotha_man

        not obama, his wife tho

      • brotha_man

        she helps Africa…

      • dee

      • johnblacksad

        LMAO tho

      • Executive

Lol yeah mane I saw it.

      • brotha_man

the statue didnt tarnish his legacy. money over principles and values did. if barney was cristal this dude would have went martin luther king having sit ins type ‘ish….
but the man has beyonce $$$$, his music company, his publishing, his sports ventures, instagram, 40-40 club, the samsung deal, budweiser, and real estate investments. if he would have spoke out, he would have lost his barney deal, which by the sounds of some people who defend jay-z action or non actions, would have put him in the poor house (sarcastic). SMH

      • Sinbk Legend

      • brotha_man

i agree with you. people act like speaking out would have sent him back to the ‘jects. this dude has far too many investments and business ventures with cats like warren buffet, etc. for the barney thing to affect his pockets (assuming) the only thing he would have done is gotten a few people upset.

    • johnblacksad

Yeah, how is his legacy tarnished?

      • Sinbk Legend

        Look at the pic….case closed

  • That’s creative… i do like that he does understand that Jay Z is an Entertainer, Not a Civil Rights Leader…Seems like a lot of ppl forget that quite often…ppl completely ignored that some (if not all according to his reps) of the profit was going to his non profit orginization

  • YaheardSyndicate

Do not let the pricey new Barneys collection fool you, Jay Z cares

  • johnblacksad

Jay should have stayed in the projects all his life and never make it out… just like all black folks are supposed to.

I don’t know what’s wrong with all these niggaz tryin to better their conditions… why don’t they just stay where they belong and let my beloved white people run the show?!

    N!ggaz mayne… I swear…

    • Inmadopicouroz✓QUEENSᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

u talking about you again?!??!!? nicca u senial frank ocean assss nicca!

  • pauleyPee

People have more time to criticize a guy like Jay-Z, who, I may add, is reaching some pretty significant heights, than to spend cultivating their own characters. I don’t get it… As if these same folks are actually in the community doing anything other than being satisfied with barely getting by. I just don’t get it.

    • brotha_man

i dont think people are critizing him, per se, i think people are disappointed that there was a issue that could have been brought to light and one of the most influential voices today choose to remain silent (his choice). The barney issue highlights more than black profiling. it highlights AZ SB 1070, stand ur ground….etc. Im active in my community, but voices of the community get ignored, so its nice to have a “jay-z or whom ever speak out when the time is right. Nobody wishes ill will on jay or hopes he is back in marcy…me personally im glad to see the brother get his, but it would have been nice for him to at least acknowledge a little disappoint, wheter with barney or NYCPD.

I volunteer at a charter school and we had a discussion on ways the community can come together to make the community better….and some of the answers the kids gave, seemed like the have given up already….sad.( but thats not Jays prob, nobody is asking him to play superman)

      • Well said bruh. I won’t front though, I criticize the shit outta him…LOL (Niggas can call me all the “haters” they want, shit has no effect over this direction.) Not cuz of his money, not cuz of his success, but cuz of his actions and lack of integrity over the years that his blind followers will NEVER acknowledge. I really don’t know how many times he has to basically say he don’t give a shit about em unless they have millions like him, before it finally sinks in with some of these fools who will most likely NEVER see those millions ever in life, or anything even remotely close to ONE mil. He got his fortune from those same people he belittles…yet when those people need him to just use his voice and platform to look out for em when they’ve been wronged, he goes mute-mode on em cuz sellin leather draws and $850 hats is more important to him…he knows the average person can’t afford that bullshit so it’s fukk em in his eyes. No one’s puttin their hand out for any of his precious money, only thing he was asked was to SPEAK UP. And he couldn’t even do THAT…but people will STILL kiss his ass like he’s actually makin some kinda meaningful difference in THEIR lives.

We’re senselessly negative against our own kind….remnants and side affects of being a historically, systemically, targeted oppressed people on this planet. The truth is we black people know this so why is that we continue to expect and support stagnation from our own. We’re mentally free, yet we still seek a master? No one can truly control your mind nor should you want to be mentally controlled. The mind controls the body, I repeat “THE MIND CONTROLS THE BODY”! We refuse to be accountable for our negative ways and ACTIONS. So the chain remains some say through our self destructive mentality that we sadly call a black thang? It’s more like n*gga shit that we just won’t let go of.

    • johnblacksad

I hear you bruh… but it’s so much easier and so much more convenient to blame it on the illuminati… smh @ some n!ggaz… they almost deserve for this illuminati bullsh!t to be real!

I hope whoever voted your comment down gets hit by a loaded truck!

Mofos hate to hear the truth!

  • JimJames29

The artist is clowning him with this sculpture. He’s actually saying the exact opposite.

    • $18916246
