N.O.R.E.: What Lord Jamar Said About White Rappers Is Correct…But Outdated (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) N.O.R.E. becomes the latest Hip Hop artist to comment on Lord Jamar’s stance that white rappers are “guests” in Hip Hop. Speaking with VladTV, the 36 year old rap veteran stated that while Lord Jamar’s comments may be outdated, they are nonetheless correct.

After admitting that “Lord Jamar is absolutely right in how the foundation of Hip Hop started”, N.O.R.E. uses Jamar’s own house metaphor to explain how misguided his stance was:

When you look at a house. You look at how a house is built. The people laying the bricks might tell you the way it was built and the people who doing the electricity is going to break it down totally different. You understand what I’m saying? They going to have two totally different opinions. But they both the peoples who built the house.

N.O.R.E declared his support for “White Hip Hop”, but not without further explaining why Lord Jamar would come to such a conclusion about that subset of Hip Hop. According to N.O.R.E, it all boils down to generational differences:

As a person who’s—I’m 36. I think Lord Jamar he’s 46 or in his 40s.  I’m a couple of years younger, but I see where he’s talking about. So, I know the era he’s speaking about and those people who was doing it at the time. Those forefathers would probably frown on this. You know what I’m saying? But look at it like this. I look at it like this, my father was anti-gay. He was anti anything that resembled gay. Like he had family members in his family he never spoke to because they were gay…What I’m saying is those people can’t be talked out of how they feel. They feel the f*ckin way they feel. And that’s it.

Check out N.O.R.E.’s full remarks on the Lord Jamar situation on VladTV below:

Homophobia = huge sign of being gay.
Thinking that overcompensating will keep people from noticing……fail.

    • Rmfag

I will say though that Nore getting fatter has made me not to want to suck him off.

      • Andy

        Are you trolling bro? Wth

      • Rmfag

Nope. No fats no fems no blacks.

    • Accusing of homophobia but calls him a closet gay
      Thats unproductive

      • johnblacksad

        whoa!

    • No it’s not. That’s BS.if a nigga dont like gays that doesn’t make him gay.So you think the dudes who openly accept it are less suspect. FOH

      • Rmfag

People who overly openly accept it are prob gay too. Just live your life and don’t hate on others.

  • TruthSerum813

He’s right when it comes to people like Lord Jamar, he’s old and stuck in his ways and he isnt gonna change the way he thinks. That’s his right as a man, let him do him and the rest of us can just be thankful we dont live in a world where people with his mentality call the shots.

  • Rmfag

Oh great! Now my rectum is torn!

  • $18592567

Where does Rick Rubin fit in to all of this? He produced so many rap classics…

    • hoeyuno

Exactly whites have been apart of hip-hop since the beginning. the rock steady crew had a lot of white members.

he has nothing againts white rappers, he just didn’t like the fact that maclemore is doing pro gay songs in hip hop forum.. All he said was I don’t care if whites rap just don’t come in and redecorate the house..Kool g rap defended white rappers, bringing up the beastie boys. they were one of the first groups signed to def jam.

    • Right, everyone’s been takin what he said completely outta context. He never said they weren’t allowed in Hip-Hop, just that they gotta come correct cuz even though they’ve been involved from the beginning, at the end of the day this AIN’T their shit (even though we’re slowly but surely lettin em take it from us more and more every damn day). But of course media gotta angle shit to make him come off like he’s just bitter when it’s more to it than that. Lord Jamar’s biggest “problem” is that he has an opinion of his own in a world full of circlejerkers, he’s not willing to play that bullshit politically correct industry game all his peers are, so it’s only natural for him to be gettin painted in the light he is right now. Like music history don’t have countless artists who went thru similar shit, sayin what’s REALLY on their mind and then bein vilified for NO other reason than it clashes with “popular opinion”.

I ain’t gonna lie i hate the praise some white rappers get, EMINEM IS THE MOST OVERRATED RAPPER OF ALL TIME.

    • johnblacksad

nah fam… and nobody doesn’t listen to Eminem more than me… I really don’t fcuk with Em… don’t rock with his voice, his beats, his subjects, his delivery but I hear the talent at putting words together, at making whole sentences rhyme with each other etc… Em deserves that spot on the Top 20 maybe Top 10 G.O.A.T MC’s… just my op.

Good luck hating gays. See how it makes your life better.

If you wanna hate people for their sexual preference hate pedophiles. Guess this statement is much in disagreement with the bible tho.

White rappers benefit because rap is marketed to white consumers. They buy the albums and support the tours (major) so from a business standpoint rap must be inclusive and NORE gets it. Lord Jamar is correct and has the freedom to express it as he does because he isn’t dependent on white fans. For some, to create rap then lose control and now to watch your very relevance slipping away is too much. The reality is urban influence in rap began to slide when Run-DMC did Rock Box. Enter the Beasties and PE. PE’s sound was that of a rock band despite the message being balanced with pro-black rhetoric. Rick Rubin through Russell Simmons is probably the most influential figure in the “bleaching” of hip hop. That’s not necessarily a bad thing either. The commercialism was needed for the genre to gain acceptance and generate revenue to entice true talent to stick around. What’s needed is a balance not a civil war. There must be equitable distribution of power and recognition or rap as we know it and knew it will go the way of Disco.

PS. Eminem is nowhere near the best. For Rosenberg to say that is an example of what irks people like Lord Jamar. It’s a blatant takeover attempt and slap in the face by an interloper who wouldn’t even be in position to promote such fallacy if he too wasn’t white. Blacks in the business are left with very little but the stage. Now there’s an attempt to minimize our role there. First our money wasn’t needed. Now we’re being shown our talent doesn’t matter. Lord Jamar shouldn’t be the only one angry about this.

    • Good shit Monte.

    • Elayorx El

I agree with Malcolm, and if I may, I would say bleaching is in no need at all, of the quotation marks. It is getting to the point of me feeling like I’m watching a continual bad episode of, “Malibu’s Most Wanted”. Respect.

It’s not a problem for white rappers to rap but the problem comes when just because whites think they always superior to black also try to transfer that ideology into rap I.e yes eminem can rhym but his words and lyrics don’t make sense, only afew percentage of people relate to them and they try to push him to be the greatest rapper just because they want white supremecy over black.that ideology produced and stil troubling blacks like the APATHEID wen someone comes to your country and thinks they are superior than you. It’s no doubt because whites control most of the media so they always push that agender. More white pple use the internet also so nowonder eminem is always pushed to be better than black rappers and for NORE his not relevant so his being an apologist and trying to be politicaly correct not to upset either camp. Hip hop was all about expressing your feelings so being an apologist and political correctness has no place in hiphop
