Beyonce’s New Album Sells Over 80,000 Copies in First Three Hours

(AllHipHop News)  There are successful people, then there is Beyonce and then there is Beyonce. Last night (December 13th), Beyonce released her fifth studio album on iTunes with no prior warning and  is already a lock for the #1 spot in Billboard.

According to Billboard, Beyonce’s new album Beyonce sold over 80,000 copies in its first three hours of release. Since Beyonce release her album Thursday evening/Friday morning Beyonce will only have three full days in the sales tracking week for the December 18th Billboard Top 200 charts. However, with over 80,000 sold in the first three hours, Beyonce is already more than half way to the project amount of 150,000 -160,000 units of Garth Brooks’ box set Blame It All On My Roots: Five Decades Of Influences who was originally predicted to top the charts.

Compared to her other albums, Beyonce is on pace to be her highest selling debut. Beyonce’s highest debut week goes to her 2006 album B’ Day, which sold 541,000.

So what? It doesn’t mean she’s going to sell 300k? Beyoncé is a fur hag and it’s bad karma. Fake vegans! The same happen to that other fur hag, Lady Gaga.

    • johnblacksad

but that fur be so soft tho…

        compassion is overrated…

Look, let’s be clear! My generation gave you En Vogue, Xscape, Dru Hill, Jodeci, Monica, and it would make no sense to go on, otherwise this will be a book. To make it simple, the music my generation produced, probably produced you, that’s right your parents probably got it on to the music my generation produced and we were handed to torch from the previous generation, Patti Labelle, Whitney Houston, and even Aretha Franklin worked with our R & B singers (Brandy and En Vogue for example). The current generation has produced crap! Niki Minaj, Beyonce, Rihanna is all you can claim and no one handed them the torch because they are not genuine. Remember what Etta James said about Beyonce? If not go look it up. That’s right Etta James from Sam Cooke era shut down Beyonce! You jungions have no clue! I even read somewhere that Kanye West said that he made Polo by Ralph Lauren popular! I couldn’t stop laughing, in fact I am laughing as I write this. Someone needs to remind Kanye that Lo-Lives were rocking Polo hard since 1992. Kanye is wearing 2nd generation bear knits. Trust me I can go on, I am from BK, been there done that. The guy is a fool! But this is what your generation is about, lies and deception of the past. And your ultimate poster boy Drake gets your approval for this, not to mention Rick Ross. Nothing but fantisizers and now your want me to respect Beyonce! You guys crack me up! Let it be known I am superior to you and your generation and I reserve the right to smack you and your generation down until you get it right. We gave you the Boot Camp Click, the Notorious BIG, Big Daddy Kane, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dog, Queen Latifah among others…Until you do better STFU!!!!

    • BigHomie337

So…….. What’s the point of your rant? I really don’t see anyone accusing this era being better than “yours” even tho u didn’t provide shot during that era. You basically had a Kanye moment for no reason.. Smh

      • Guest

The point is simple. This generation needs to do better with who it selects as its leaders. Their leaders are being poorly vetted! This generation knows significantly little! I strongly suggest you limit statements like “u didn’t provide…” My experience goes back and involves getting David Dinkins elected, the Crown Heights riots right up to modern day Civil Rights issues, something this generation doesn’t champion (see Supreme Court case and Voting Rights Act). Be very cautious young one! Don’t let my presence on this website fool you! BigHomie…give me a break and learn from my generation and the ones previous!

      • BigHomie337

If u are the above person that posted the original post, I’m still asking what is your point? The article was about the way she decided to release her album than you went totally left field. Than u say choose our leaders better but I’ve never heard anyone consider Beyonce anything besides an entertainer. No logical person is looking for Beyonce or any musician to make a change in their lives. Music is solely for entertainment purpose. Just because you were born in an era doesn’t mean u contributed anything to it. Smh. U sound like u actually believe that entertainers are super heroes and care about anything besides making money.

      • Papi Peligro

man thank you. We not even checking for Beyonce period. Ain’t not 1 person in this thread said yo that album tight/sucks cause ain’t not 1 person cchecking for it. Dudes hyped over nothing.

      • johnblacksad

        who is David Dinkins?

    • johnblacksad

oh well… this generation just doesn’t give a fcuk what you think…

    • Celz

Bro.. All your points are right but your delivery is wronger than these niccas is.. Shut that shyt up you makin us 80s babies look bad..

    • Papi Peligro

I think its more outlets and more people making music than in the 90s. I think if you drop Drake etc etc etc back in the 90’s they’d sale the same. You quoting all of the HERO’S of hiphop. What about Biz Markee, ODB, NO LIMIT

ALL THIS ROC SPORTS ETC. MASTER P DID IT FIRST. ICE T, TAG TEAM, ONYX, DUDE THAT MADE I PUT MY HANDS UP ON MY HIPS, WHICH WAS A DISS SONG TO THE BUTTERFLY SONG. Cash Money 98 vs Cash Money 2013 is still a Gimmick. You put that out in 2013 you would consider it garbage.

NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FUTURE AND BIZ MARKIE. Except its New York. So save all this it was better in my day. Its the same. Its just social media gives people staying power. LYRIC wise I THINK these young dudes push harder than the 90’s. Like the 90’s went harder than the 80’s. Lyric wise metaphors and word play its better today.

  • Good on her, she’s a mother….gotta provide. I never thought I’d see the day where R&B would end up like this, where only Beyoncé of Destinys child would be carrying the torch for a dead genre of music. R&B was so diverse with many acts (groups), I guess this is why she’s Queen B to her fans.

Look, most of you on here dropped out of high school while in 10th grade and insist that Beyonce and Jay-Z are doing something new and getting all excited about this crap. Hello they are simply using star power, nothing new! They don’t need to advertise. In fact they are using the same strategy most new comers HAVE to use and have been using. i use the same approach, but not pulling millions. I do computer programming, as most of you already know. I create apps now ( I am older and am glad I have these skills.) and software. I post my stuff on a site and wa la. On one app I made close to $60,000. It sounds like a lot, but it’s nothing. Tumblr was created by a 25 year old sold and for 1 billion. To put it simply, it is nothing new. This was the approach that was always encouraged by iTunes. Since most of you dropped out of high school, let me fill you in. The decline of music started mid 90’s with Napster. A college kid designed a program to share digital files for free, this includes music. His program was banned thanks to Metallica, but the cat was already out the bag. Fast forward a few years later iTunes made it easy to share music files but at a significantly low cost $.99 per song. This helped remove the need for big advertising and has worked for some small acts. It would make sense that someone like Jay-Z and Beyonce would use this approach. In fact it’s not only in the music industry, but everywhere, like I said, computer programmers rarely spend money on advertising there programs. We build our reputation by posting things for free and charging small amounts on special sites. If you use an app/program for music or book cataloging, it’s probably one I created. If you use an app for biology, it’s probably one I created and you don’t even realize it. So far I have made about 15 programs/apps and doing just fine without advertising. Jay-Z and Beyonce are now realizing this…It’s always been there. But for you 10th grade drop outs it’s big news!

There’s a difference. An App helps you accomplish a task. So those needing to do a task will go search for App. Nobody needs Beyonce album. It could drop and with out advertisement no one would know. She is getting free advertisement like you said from news and radio outlets. But this is a huge risk as millions of dollars goes into making albums of her caliber and when the hot topic of secret album release is over like Monday. She will see her sales flat line.

    • iamwhoiam

Man, this is the comment section of a hiphop website, don’t nobody give 2 fucks what you claim to do for a living…and,I graduated and, I’m well educated. Smh, 10th grade drop outs?! FOH! leave a SIMPLE comment bout Bey then shut tha fuk up….on to th next column. LOL! You said you’ve created 15 apps / programs and, chances are we used them. FOH! LOL.

      • Andy

“Bey”? Who wants to bet this guy isn’t a heterosexual male?

Nothing wrong with what “jsj23” said. Do you dispute any of the points he made?

      • iamwhoiam

Damn, soooo since I ain’t type her WHOLE name that some how makes me gay????!!!! Okay. Yea I agree with some of what he said but, you’ve got to agree that BEY is on another level with her carrer. I ain’t even a fan really, but that’s damn impressive to pop up with an album overnight and get 80,000 downloads out the gate. Artists spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to be able to put an album out and fail miserably.
IJS, don’t nobody give a fuk bout all that extra shit dude was sayin in that novel of a comment. Lol it ain’t that serious. With the “10th grd drop out” shit. Foh, both of ya’ll high and mighty mufukus tryin school everybody and shit. It’s just funny to me…I bet ya’ll print out your comments and hang’m on your fridge like it’s published literature and shit, serious as ya’ll sound.
And, get off “js23’s” dick…and I’m not a “heterosexual “male?!

      • iamwhoiam

        Ehh, nigga you gay!

      • Andy

Lol why are you talking to yourself?

      • Andy

Again, do you have any coherent rebuttal to any of the points he made? You shouldn’t get angry at the length of the comment just because you were too lazy to read it. And don’t give me any of that “get of js23 **** shit”, just for pointing out that it was a decent comment.

My apologies if i got it wrong and you aren’t bro, but that was the only logical conclusion I could reach from your comment. It just sounded really….suspect.

      • iamwhoiam

You gotta be a robot or some crazy shit like that. Ya’ll take this comment shit pretty serious huh? GEEEEZ! OKAY,
In regards to the comment posted by “js23”, I would simply like to respond by saying first, I believe that Mrs. Beyonce Knowles is a very beautiful and talented artist and for you to discredit the release of an album without promotion is preposterous to say the least. BEYONCE KNOWLES is one of the very few female r&b/pop stars that would ever be able to pull off such a spontaneously yet undoubtedly strategic release…
na, I’m just bullshiting. I don’t give a shit! Just killin time in the comment section……….conider yourself rebutted. Lol

      • Andy

….Haha alright man, whatever you say.

      • iamwhoiam

The whole point was how the guy was talkin down on everybody and bragging bout his programs and apps and shit. It was funny to me. So I responded. Then you replied Andrew.

  • Papi Peligro

Funny things is nobody on this thread went and downloaded or copped the album.

    • iamwhoiam

      That’s cause we’re ALLHIPHOP! LOL

  • iamwhoiam

Name somebody elsewho has done the SAME thing and SOLD AS MANY ALBUMS? I’ll wait (echo-Jay Z voice)

  • i’mreloaded!

Beyoncé fine as fucc and I can’t front, dat Drunk In Love Joint with Jay go hard. Just sayin.

  • LetsBeRealpeople

Somebody break down the Industry math on selling the album in 3 or 4 hours. 80,000 copies at 15.99 on itunes…how much is her take home and how much goes back to the label. Not running it..give me real talk on take home pay if you doing the damn thing on sales?
