Kanye West

Hip-Hop Rumors: About That Kanye West Moment With Pres. George Bush…

Here is something interesting.

Remember when George Bush was defecating on Black People down there in Louisiana when Hurricane Katrina hit? Don’t even get me started with the whole BS around that fiasco. I definitely think there was a concerted effort to “take” New Orleans back. That’s another rumor. But, the aftermath is what I want to talk about.

I recently got an interesting rumor about Mr. West and it deals with this moment.

I was recently told (don’t even ask how this came about) that Kanye didn’t have any intention of doing anything off script. As you know, he ended up saying “George Bush doesn’t care about Black people.” But, I was told Kanye West coerced into making that bold move. Apparently there were some politically minded folks and they applied pressure to Kanye to do something bold. Why? Because the telethon at the time was such a big TV play that they said you HAVE to do something. Kanye did just that even though…I’m thinking he didn’t really want to. You can definitely tell that he’s way uncomfortable with it. At first, I was thinking that was because he was just stammering. But, now – with the guy we see these days – I’m not so sure. He may have just been “bullied” into speaking out against the president at the time.

We’ll probably never know unless some industry insider says something, but the aftermath of it all…including present day says a lot.

Oh…and Kanye did semi-apologize later.

LOL…this is funny, but the end of this video is pretty compelling. Yeezy was very uncomfortable. Wonder if he got a “visit” from some “people.”

A “visit” would’ve probably ended in a story line similar to “Famous rapper found dead on suspicious drug overdose”

    • Toast2thegods

Well he actually did get a visit. His mother was killed during a routine operation. Very suspicious.

      • Ye’ was shook, but took a stand.

That takes courage….even if it doesn’t take brains.

      • Toast2thegods

no doubt, i wish he would take a stand on things of this importance more often and not about being locked out the fashion industry.

      • After that, he won’t even take a stand to pee!

Think about it….’chet changed dramatically in Ye’.

If he was “bullied” into saying that it would defeat the purpose of what he supposedly says he stands for in Hip Hop, pop music, or life in general.

  • Black Jay

Okay… Y’all lost me on this one. This is complete bullsh*t. First, Kanye has been spouting off at the mouth for a minute (Taylor Swift, etc). So you mean to tell me the one moment that Kanye spoke out and was absolutely right, was fake? For all of the sh*t that I read on this site, this one takes the cake. So as soon as an outspoken person says all of the things you don’t like, you run stories and rightfully blast him on it. But then you try to do some sideswipe sh*t and go ala cart on his outbursts and try to eliminate one Black History moment that was ABSOLUTELY CORRECT?

This ain’t no fan sh*t. Let me say this…. and I don’t give a f*ck who challenges me. Kanye says a lot of boisterous sh*t. No doubt. And I absolutely hate it. But can anybody ever say that he has been truly INCORRECT? Sure his sh*t is debatable. No doubt. But he always says the sh*t that society doesn’t want him to say. And that has always been consistent. Check it….

    1. George Bush didn’t care about Black Folks
    2. Taylor Swift didn’t deserve to win the award
    3. Fashion companies do try to son Black folks and pay them on some welfare scale
    4. He very well may be in the top 5 rappers of all time (I’m not saying it’s a fact, but it’s debatable based on his merits and what he’s accomplished)
    5. You wouldn’t have the same level of HOV if you didn’t have Kanye
    6. He’s the Steve Jobs of Fashion and culture (In his mind, he very well may be. If I were going to slam Kanye for any statement it would be this one because it’s not proven)
    7. He’s a genius. I can’t front. He has made some genius sh*t. And he can’t even play a single instrument. To go from nothing to over $100 Million and being the 8th most winning Grammy Artist of all time is pretty damn genius.

I just think that this is some political sh*t. Some people try to distance Kanye from the Black community (although it can be argued that he does this himself sometimes). I personally am absolutely supportive of what he does because he’s given so much GOOD SH*T to the artform. Take this dumb sh*t over to Fox News. Keep going Kanye.

    • Obi Won

Yeah Kanye has always been consistent with his recklessness of mouthing off. Whether on wax or on screen

      • Honestly, that’s why I’m not even mad!

    • ZUBU

“4. He very well may be in the top 5 rappers of all time (I’m not saying it’s a fact, but it’s debatable based on his merits and what he’s accomplished)”

I concur with everything you stated except for the above statement. Just my opinion, and of course we are all entitled to our own views. IMO as good as Em is he’s not top 5 to me. I started listening to rap at the start Sugar Hill Gang. At least that was the start of Rap on a Nationwide level, I have heard so many cold brothas come down the line its hard to put some of the recent dudes in there. Not to mention when MC Lyte was on her game she went as hard as any man on the mic. Lil Kim, Foxy, Nicki, etc. they can go on the mic but they use sex to get attention. Lyte use to straight up just rip the mic. IMO she gotta be top 10 male or female.

      • Black Jay

No doubt! MC Lyte could kill a chick or dude on the mic. I can’t front. To me she’s the number one female hip hop artist of all time. And she would definitely be in my top 20 of all time MCs male or female. No doubt!

      • Inmadopicouroz✓QUEENSᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Mc lyte??? Nicca what u know bout that besides Wikipedia?

      • Immortal

Gentlemen you both are right. We continuously make these top whatever lists and they change like we change clothes. All of what you listed are good rappers in their own right, but what puts a common rapper into the great MC’s is longevity. I don’t care about awards because they are made by folks who do not value the music nor the culture the way we do, yet this year with Mac winning, WE should try to look at what they’re looking at. MC’s have songs that years later we are STILL shaking our heads thinking “he really said that” or can still invoke those feeling of “I was here when this came out”. Rappers are a dime a dozen and while a few have good punch lines, good production, they are flash in the pan artists and will be forgotten as such. Ye won’t have that problem because most of his old stuff had a poignant message hidden behind good production and arrogance. He will go down as a MC and not a rapper. As far as the fashion goes, Ye killed himself. Sometimes to get a foot in the door, you might have to be humble, yet not selling out to get in. Then with your work ethic, establish yourself, and get that respect. Ye wanted that respect in a field where no one knew him as a designer, and I could care less about a shoe that really no one will wear, real designers make fashion that shocks and sets trends, breaks the status quo, and in some cases, the dresses or whatever are bought and saved as treasures like the gowns the first ladies wear. To this day Lyte, Boss, Lady of Rage, and many others could light up todays “wrappers” and chuck em out with the rest of the trash.

      • Black Jay

        I see you brother….

    • You know what bruh that the same s*** I tell people bout the boy Kanye man…bruh does what he wants when he wants to, he has been consistent with that his whole career…Also if u listen to his words and rhymes that brother definitely a proud brother and people hate em for it…and while u bullsh**n bruh can rhyme but he goes over heads sometimes. I used to hate that diamonds are forever song til I heard it again the other day…He explains his reasoning for his actions on that joint with reckless abandon and if u get passed the beat it’s a nice cut along wit a lot of bruh songs.

      • Black Jay

“Use my arrogance as esteem to power my dreams…” he said that sh*t on his first album!!! Now everybody is shocked and surprised that it’s true? People need to stop frontin’. If more Black kids thought highly of themselves and called themselves “geniuses” then maybe we’d have more kids graduating.

That cut to Smokey was priceless! I think Ye was stammering because of emotion nothing else. He damn sure wasn’t stammering when he said George Bush doesn’t care about black peolple

  • KingsCountyCrooklyn

I don’t think Kanye was forced to say anything during the telethon. As he said in the ending If you say anything you can lose everything. Bushes people paid Kanye a late night visit and he was forced to apologize to the non racist president, who all of a sudden recognizes his Spanish relatives during his 2nd term campaign.

    • 5% Hov

sure it wasn;t late night. but i agree.

  • Realist4200

I can’t argue with his ultimate message much, but he sounded like a stuttering, rambling dumbass that entire time he was talking. The only positive thing to come out of it was that it opened up the conversation – he didn’t drop a single bit of knowledge although it atleast seemed like he was trying to. It just wasn’t delivered right at all.

Katrina was f#cked up- I lived in Atlanta for a while and knew a few people that came after it all went down; I heard some terrible stories. A lot of what happened afterwards was a result of the mentality of the local law enforcement and vigilante hicks with guns. And when FEMA and Red Cross, etc. (Gov. Agencies) came in, there was poor communication and it was just a general clusterf#ck.

    • ItGoesDownINtheDM

Correct me if im wrong but didnt they have something else come out years or months ago on this. some higher black people (dont remember who) tell him to say this but in a more articulate way but all this dummy came out was bush dont care about blacks. Yeah Bush didnt care about blacks but when you a man in that position when everybody watching it should have came out better. • illynois95

it’s nothing short of astonishing to me that allhiphop let’s their writers say something as ignorant as the government letting new orleans suffer so that it could be repopulated with white people. in fact i think this mentally handicapped individual was implying that the storm was man-made. and grouchy greg is not concerned at all about the site’s journalistic credibility?

    • Just Axin

Amen. And as if whites made blacks riot and loot during this tragedy.

    • It was about the oil.
      Offshore vs Onshore revenue.
Katrina took 20 miles of coast?

      12+ miles = Offshore

The state lost 80+% of their revenue / oil.

  • illynois95

why do black people always think any action or inaction by white people was done so because of a deep seated hatred for them? bush rarely did anything right, why couldnt you just chalk it up to that? but no, it must have been because there happened to be black people in the area hit by the storm, so he made a conscious decision to scrap any rescue efforts. do you realize how stupid that narrative sounds? grow up.

    • Papi Peligro

Well the thing is. He was able to hire a private contractor to come in and perform the rescue action. I don’t believe Bush is a racist. I do think he was trying to turn the black vote against the government and more of a reliance on private contractors. I don’t believe Bush is racist because little known fact he did the most for Africa than any other american president. That wasn’t because he liked black people that was because he was countering Chinese influence on African resources.

      • The China reference restored my faith in you!

The white democrat Dixiecrat governor put guns on the people..as president, Bush was prohibited to order police, soldiers ..only when threat to national security could Bush be in charge of law enforcement or military..Katrina was natural disaster not threat to national security..the democrats staged the fallout democrat party of slavery, segregation,KKK still getting away with their deceit!

  • Pbranham

When will blacks learn neither Republican nor Democrat party really care about us. However,If you look at the track record,it was the Grand ole party of Abe Lincoln, the Republicans that past all the laws to help blacks..never the democrats..the democrats vetoed or walked out of every Bill- including the 1964 civil rights bill which were amendments of existing bills that republicans passed years before but the south ignored and the Democrats walked out of that one also..it was 100% republicans that backed president Johnson to pass 1964 civil Rights Bill..Republicans gave us right to vote, fair housing, integration public places and schools,,and even affirmative action..yet blacks back the party of slavery ..the democrats let the poor and blacks suffer during Katrina to make Bush look sillier than he already was..the people at convention center and super dome were not stranded..how could the world press go in and out with no problem..hoodwinked by racist democrats with boogie negroes supporting them.

    • i was with you until : “it was the Grand ole party of Abe Lincoln, the Republicans that past all the laws to help blacks..”

Nah, you need to research, the 14th amendment nationalized slavery, for all races.

      • Pbranham

“Nationalized slavery for all races “u r right, which reminds me..it’s time to get my taxes done ..every time I sign the 1040 I admit I’m a 14th amendment citizen:-)

      • The question is, what does citizenship in the U.S. corporation really mean?

Involuntary servitude was outlawed by the 13rh, but “VOLUNTARY” wasn’t.

14TH amendment was never ratified, because it forced servitude on all “CITIZENS.”

    • Fosho3528

YES! The democrats don’t care about minorities. They give them just enough welfare to stifle growth and keep them in the voting booths. They treat them like pets in return for widespread support. Think about it. You think they care about making illegal aliens into citizens? 10 million illegal aliens is like an untapped oil well for them. That’s 10 million democrats to keep them in power. Most of them are rich from old family money and never live in communities with minorities anyways. Anyone in the middle class that works hard is getting CRUSHED right now. Black, white, latino, whatever. Unfortunately, the Republican party has now turned into a bunch of old white Christians who only want to help other old white Christians. They’re a whole other mess. It’s a lose lose.
