(AllHipHop News) Rick Ross’ opening week sales of his latest album Mastermind were enough to give the MMG rapper his fifth number one album in his career. According to HitsDailyDouble, after coming out the gate with around 180,000 copies sold, Mastermind‘s second week numbers are predicted to be between 40,000 and 50,000 units.

The most high-profile rap album debuting this week is Young Money’s Rise of an Empire. The compilation LP featuring the label’s stars like Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Drake, and Tyga is looking at first week sales around 27,000 – 30,000. Those numbers will likely place Rise in the 7th spot on the album chart.

Pharrell’s G I R L is on pace for the fourth position with sales around 40,000, and Schoolboy Q’s Oxymoron is looking at another 15 – 17 thousand units sold this week to remain in the top 20.

“Death Of An Empire”. Cash Money is having serious problems. Giving all of those artists a spot on this compilation won’t erase the fact that most of them will never release an album under the Cash Money flag. This album was about placating them.

But as I said, the music industry is straight toast right now. Pharrell has the number one song in the world and his album sold less than Ross. Now that’s some slanted sh*t for your ass.

Sell outta your trunks or the internet people. Record companies are dead now.

      EXACTLY

that is why they came up with all these singing shows. Those are the new record deals. The record companies make more money signing people to do singing shows then spending money and payola promoting an album that will flop. Albums don’t pay anymore. Just singles. A single used to be able to carry album sales.

Agree, but it’s not all their fault, these artists and producers has gotten lazy .If the music not good people not gonna buy it. Now everybody’s hides behind sales, but their albums still crap, even if certain artist goes platinum, never hear anybody talking bout how dope someone album is.JMO!

Thing with Pharell is that he’s not known as a solo artist so nobody is really waiting on a Pharell album even though he’s in videos all the time and his productions gets people up on the top lists.

His first album also sold about 150K first week or something. And this one did some good numbers in UK, 70K. But still, he’s not known in the public as a solo star, he’s more know as ”that guy who made that song a hit”.

Author: How do you go from typing “15-17 thousand” to “27,000-30,000” wording in one paragraph? Stick to one or the other.

Ok, Fat Willie has five #1albums. How many of those were still number one by week two?? And still none have gone plat.

    • Super_Hero

He got 5 #1s because he won’t drop an album at the same time as his competition. That is how Jay-Z did it before he became very popular in the white crowd. 5 #1s and non are platinum.

That’s true. No hate but it’s true. I got to agree. It’s a good album though.

  • MrNoName2K

That Ross album is actually better than I thought it would be..

    • bigdoe6

It’s not a a bad album compared to the last two but what really bothers me is the features. The features are just too scattered everywhere and it’s too many. Production is on point though.

        agree good album tho

Cash Money/Young Money is looking bad. Lil Wayne fans grew up, so did Nicki’s. Can’t see why Mannie Fresh would even entertain trying to do a Big Tymers album..who’s buying it?

Pharrell in a whole ‘nother lane than that dumb YMCMB shit and Ross’s fake dope stories. His music will be on the oldies stations 15 years from now still generating money. All that swag and mafia tuff’ talk will be played out.
