Dame Dash Calls New York Daily News “Racist, Republican Paper” (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Dame Dash did not hold his tongue when speaking to a reporter from the New York Daily News recently. Dash questioned the publication’s credibility and called the newspaper racist.

“Why don’t you guys ever write about the good stuff about a black man? Why? Because you’re a racist, Republican paper,” said Dame. “I know it’s killing you that Obama’s in office. I know it kills you that you went to college to write for a paper that’s not credible.”

The exchange with the media apparently took place outside a New York courthouse where Dash was facing a lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend. The conversation included the mogul asking the reporters present why they only cover “negative” stories.

“Why don’t you say he has art galleries around the world, he has independently owned companies that do well over $50 million, he employs at least ten people at any given time? How come you don’t ever say that?” asked Dash. “I can pay everybody else’s bills, but y’all just want to talk about the ones that aren’t paid of mine. The same exact tax bulls**t for five years. Get a new story.”

Dame has a point about the New York Daily. They’re racist as sh*t. I can’t front on that comment. They hate brothers over there. No joke.
As for everything else? If Dame came out and questioned the negativity when his personal status was all good, I might be inclined to agree with him. But he never mentioned that sh*t when he was out giving “Rules for the successful businessman” and “how to stay loyal”. So why the heat now? I’ll tell you why. Because when it rains it pours. He’s mad about what’s going down and the way it’s being portrayed. But that’s the thing about media. You either accept all aspects of it and move within that realm or you disassociate yourself from it completely. You can’t think you can use it whenever you have something to sell or when you want to wash your image and think it doesn’t have a right to bite you in your ass. N*gga if you pet a tiger, sometimes that mother f*cker’s going to bite. Real talk.

    • Troll_E_G

The media is not a tiger. The media has no right to bite anyone….its thinking like this is y the news promotes tax trouble instead of Real news

      • Black Jay

If what you say is true then why is it that all of these dudes run to the media to sell their products? What about running to them when they want to present a certain image. Get it right homie. You can’t call foul when you got beef with a chick and it’s out in the open. If Dame had been chilling and then a newspaper hit him on some assassin type sh*t and ripped his character, he would have a point. But he’s the one getting sued in court. He’s the one with the IRS on his ass. Nobody else. If he’s anti-media then shut the f*ck up about your business ventures and your aspirations. Otherwise, it’s a part of the game.

      • bisolabliss

You clearly didn’t understand what ‘Troll’ was getting at when he wrote “the media has no right to bite anyone”. He is speaking on ‘what was’/’what should be’ as opposed to ‘what is’.

What is obtainable with present day media is an aberration, not the norm and a level of education, perspective and over-standing is essential to grasp what is going on.

I’ll do you a solid, read ‘The Assault On Reason’ by Al Gore.

It will open your eyes to the forces – vested interests – that amalgamated to usher in the media we know today; how congress was lobbied into jettisoning a law that opposed the ownership of multiple media outlets by corporations and individuals with vested interests and agendas because it was feared once that happened a collection of individuals would yield the power of determining what is news worthy.

Now, fast-forward to 2014 and what do we have?

And people like you defend it because…?

      • Black Jay

Because without “media” you wouldn’t have the right to type those words you just wrote. I have a wide eyed opinion of what media is. People like you will get on this site and b*tch about media, not understanding that the very venue you’re using is a part of that same media. If you don’t like the media, start the change by logging off of this site and never entering again. I’m not dissing so don’t think that. But how are you going to diss the very system you’re a part of? Whatever.

      • Troll_E_G

Comment boards and actual news stations are two different situations….The black man made it possible to comment online not the media…the news should present substance not trivial all the time…tax troubles are not newsworthy…how to file taxes properly is

      • Black Jay

That’s not even a logical statement. So you get to say what constitutes news now? Come on dude. You’re not even being realistic. You act like the news was always fair and balanced. If you’re Black you should know that has never been true. Ever. The system has been the same f*cked up monster from day one. And yes, your comments are published and owned by AHH so it is news homie. Y’all need to stop tripping. Bottom line, accept the media monster as it is and has always been. TAINTED! Just because you can’t use it for your benefit whenever you want doesn’t make it any better or worse. It’s the same as it’s been since my ancestors were forced to come here.

      • Troll_E_G

U can say all that but point is people personal lives should not be news…u ain’t gotta type novels to get that Fact

      • Black Jay

Do you homie. It’s all good over here.

      • Black Jay

Also remember….. If not for the media none of us would be commenting. And every single person on this site is giving a negative or positive opinion about everybody at any moment. You don’t like the media? Then do your part and log off. I’m not dissing but that’s what it is. We’re all part of this thing and to think otherwise is foolish.

  • Reblogged this on HUEY mix wit RILEY.

  • MrNoName2K

Dame be on some good sh*t. Duke makes valid points.

  • tdot

Point blank the media has a job too do and it comes w/ a double EDGE sword but! doesn’t mean you cant speak out about it as they are doing themselves about others in a negative light, ITS CALLED FREEDOM OF SPEECH he just has more balls and intelligence too use THE MEDIA with there own taste of there own medicine so to speak IF HE WAS SPITTING NON SENSE thats different, but he speaks the truth!!!

  • best_believe

His corny dressing self don’t complain when these Hip Hop sites be clowning on him all day.

  • I see what he is saying, but he forgot that it’s called ” Newspaper” for a reason…They report the “News” and news are mostly likely consisting of negative information….It’s crazy how he is arguing about them covering black men in negative ways and on the flip side he “Dash was facing a lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend”….Maybe you should do more positive things and stay out of the news. #simple

    • Troll_E_G

So getting sued means he’s no doing positivity huh smh

      • Yes, if he wasn’t being sued, then we wouldn’t have to deal with the media at the court house.

      • Troll_E_G

The news should report Real news not dumb shit…I’m glad the brother spoke up for himself but his comments fall on deaf ears when the people support the fuckery

  • Celebs need to stop bashing the media, because when they have material to release it’s the same media thats going to promote your work…..The media has a lot of power because as most celebs are relevant for a certain timeframe, the media is constantly there and will always be around to report on everything both good and bad….Plus the if the media write a positive article no one reads it, no one buys it, and no one cares…..So it is a bigger picture which points back to society and what attracts peoples attention.

Dame is right and wrong. He’s just as right and wrong as some of you dudes are on this joint. The media is the media. You either accept it as it is or you don’t participate. The media has always been HEAVILY TAINTED AND DIRTY SINCE THE DAYS OF SLAVERY. Some of y’all, like Dame, expect fairness from a system that has straight played you and your ancestors from day one? Come on son. I ain’t no blind dummy. The media has it’s uses. But rarely do those uses involve TRUTH. It’s all slanted.
Dame is true about racism. But he’s the same dude that will use the media to push his products and agenda. And now he wants to get mad when that tiger bites? GTFOH. if you participate in American media (which all of you are by commenting on this board), you have to realize the media is what it is. Don’t get mad when it comes after you because like it or not, it’s been chewing on your ass and your ancestor’s ass from day one. Use it for what you can but don’t expect much.

    • I agree.

    • Troll_E_G

Make your mind up …either u pro black or a Negropean taking up for white supremacy

      • Black Jay

I ain’t into the dissing thing bro. Do your thing homie. Peace.

      • Troll_E_G

Dissing is calling u out your name….I asked a question…I’m sure u know the difference

    • Phenom1250

Man the point Dame Dash is trying to make is why media never focuses on the positives, they never call him up on the huge accomplishments him or other successful black people made that not many humans do in their lifetime, like the examples he gave in the video was him opening up art museum and branching out 150 thousand jobs for people, the point hes just simply making is Dame Dash should just focus on the positives instead of the negatives

Also, not sure why you brung slavery in it, after taking a American history course in college, most of media supported the abolishment of slavery(until Jefferson Davis made up BS propaganda)

Does anyone not see the great irony here???? This guy speaks about getting negative press from the news media but doesnt utilize it enough to get the results he seeks. How about starting your own news outlet instead of crying the same tired cry over and over again.
