Ice Cube’s son O’Shea Jackson Jr. is reportedly taking on the part of his father in the movie. Cube, who also serves as a producer for Straight Outta Compton, had previously expressed his interest in Jackson Jr portraying the emcee. Several other rappers and actors auditioned for part, but apparently the media mogul convinced executives at Universal to go with his son.

Fellow N.W.A member Dr. Dre and Tomica Woods-Wright, the widow of Easy-E, are also listed as producers for the picture. F. Gary Gray (Set It Off, The Italian Job) is on hand to direct. There is no scheduled release date for the film as of yet.

Pushing aside it is his son. This is business and it is about one of the most informative, most inpiring, rap groups to ever emerge they change the game from the moment they entered the spot light. So with that being said Cube has made successful decisions up to this point. Hope his son does well cause this is a MONUMENTAL TASK

nwa was good – unfortunately they changed the game with their gansta rap, from then on – the lyrics changed from happy and progressive – to the repetitive same 3 topics we have now

actually, in the beginning its was a transition from disco, then telling the truth through story telling ( hood version )

go back and listen to some lyrics from diff artist of the time period.. surprising similarities

sadly , Rap / Hip Hop is no more, they have basically transitioned again into Pop Hop, Trick Hop, Crap, Gay Hop, No Talent Hop, a bunch of silly ass rabbits…..

i know Im a hater, but stop and do a fact check. is what ur listening inspiring in any way, does it uplift, does it tell a story, does it have meaning, if all ur talking about is drugs ( dumb asses they killing u) and loose women (nothing new) that pretty much means not one of you have anything of substance to talk about.

there are only a handful of mainstream artist (i know the unda ground provides more substance and variation)

Im am so glad i lived through the good music era……

this bullshit makes people wanna listen to talk radio instead….

I started off on K Blow, Suga Hill gang, Grand Master Flash. all the way through Kendrick Lamar….so i have been engulfed in hip hop for dam near 30 yrs

        my 2 cents…

Well, we all knew he was going to. In fact, it would be good if they could put it Eazy and Dre’s sons as well. Of course if they can act good enough for this task (which won’t really require that much of them).

Hey, Biggie’s son played him (with NO acting experience), and even tho Biggie ain’t NEVER been light-skinned, it was still believable. Cube’s son actually looks like Cube, so I don’t see the problem (even with NO acting experience).

Well drive buys tradition in South central and Compton those saying making Blacks look bad going be laugh at. False unity is animosity and apathy Ice Cube beaten odds with long career and popularity only problem. Son heir to dynasty plenty of envy once prior Jr. well protected from the Hood Ice Cube Cris Brown wearing frowns going down protégé of Suge. Might fight your son yeah!
