Report: Kanye West Wants To Release Next Album As A Surprise

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West is currently working to complete his 7th studio album, and according to reports the G.O.O.D. Music boss is looking to follow in the footsteps of his “little sister” Beyoncé. The Sun cites a source claiming Ye will drop the follow-up to Yeezus without any promotion similar to how Bey released her 2013 self-titled LP.

“Kanye has been working hard on the album for a lot of this year, but he’s known for cutting deadlines so it’s better if he can just put it out at the last minute,” said the source.

There were reports earlier this year that Kanye was “annoyed” and “feeling defeated” that Beyoncé’s “visual album” was so successful, because he had the idea of releasing videos and songs all at once first.

“He wanted to do a visual album for his ‘Dark Twisted Fantasies’ album, but everyone around him convinced him it wouldn’t work,” an insider told Radar Online. “That’s why he ended up doing one long movie to go with it [the 35-minute short film, ‘Runaway’].”

The connection between Kanye’s upcoming album and the Knowles-Carter family extends beyond the possibility of an overnight release. West recently told GQ he has bars on the project that he felt could have been spit by Beyoncé’s husband Jay Z.

      • 5% Hov

        Depends what ur criteria is.
        lyrics vs delviery

      • jeezuz_walkz

and i definitely choose lyrics over bullshit.. so Kayne > Jay-z

      • 5% Hov

Nah bruh – Jay is the one with lyrics…. Reasonable Doubt > Kanyes whole career.

      • jeezuz_walkz

c’mon bruh all jigga fans relate back to that 1 album that kept him afloat…. if r.d. was >> over kaynes whole career… why does Kayne keep smoking him on all the tracks he’s featured on with him??? Jay always paid for his spots. to me they both bitches but i’d rather listen to Kayne over Jigga any day.

      • 5% Hov

Everyone got an opinion…. the We made it verse – the seen it all verse over anything on Yeezus.

Real talk. – I’m not about the things u about. Peace God

      • jeezuz_walkz

peace god… yo that seen it all verse is tough as nails tho…i can’t even front prolly one of jay’s best verses in a long time…

  • Markus

However he does it, as long as the result is an improvement over Yeezus I’m all for it. He should go back to College Dropout mode. That was Kanye at his best.

    • Noel

Its not going to happen, its like asking Jay to give us another black album or Eminem to give us another Marshal Mathers LP. Kids now a days like Eminem said “All they wanna hear is a beat and that’s it
Long as they can go to the club and get blitz
Pick up some chicks and get some digits”

      • 5% Hov

        Kanye is not Em.
And Hov gave us American Gangster (another classic) after Black album. Dont forget that.

Ye got another 2 classics left at least.

  • Tyfromthechi

Im looking forward to new kanye west music hopefully he can bring that soul sampling back and get off that techno homo shit but ain’t too many people checking for kanye he burned too many bridges people are sick of his bitchy behavior

    • Michael

What are you talking about? His sales have always remained consistently strong. The voices of people that hated Yeezus were much louder than those that loved it, yet the album still went platinum. I’m expecting a Part 2 to Yeezus, since Kanye did say that Yeezus was unfinished and that other songs for the project had been removed on a joint decision with Rick Rubin.

      • 5% Hov

Part 2 of Yeezus – more un-listenable beasts and horrible confused lyrics?

I bet you thought New Slaves was a revolutionary song. smh

      • Michael

I never thought of any of the songs as being revolutionary. But I am smart enough to realise that the lyrics of New Slaves are culturally significant. I try to listen to albums objectively – it makes me feel more like a critic. Yeezus is a good album in my personal opinion, but during the release last year, I believed and still believe that J Cole’s “Born Sinner” was the better album.

      • 5% Hov

        “New Slaves are culturally significant.”

WHAT>?? We will agree to disagree. As for cole’s album…. meh…

      • Michael

Sure. We can agree to disagree when you do not quote my out of context.

Real quote: “The lyrics of New Slaves are culturally significant.” If you don’t understand what that means, that’s fine, or if you just completely disagree, that’s cool, too.

You seem to have strict taste in music, if you don’t rate J Cole’s Born Sinner.

      • 5% Hov

Both contexts would ellict the same response. I don’t thin anything he said New Slaves was culturay relevant or significant – in theme or subject matter.

As for Born Sinner – it’s more watery fake revoutionary pop music – I ike Cole – Friday Night Lights > Born Sinner …. so it’s not I dont rate it – it’s that it was MEH type album.

      • Michael

That’s fine if you think it’s not culturally significant, which it is, but not relevant?

“You see it’s broke nigga racism
That’s that “Don’t touch anything in the store”
        And it’s rich nigga racism
That’s that “Come in, please buy more”
“What you want, a Bentley? Fur coat? A diamond chain?
All you blacks want all the same things”
Used to only be niggas, now everybody playin’
        Spendin’ everything on Alexander Wang
        New Slaves”

These lines are definitely relevant. This is what hip hop culture bowls down to. It’s very relevant. And also the part in the song about throwing blacks in private prisons – taking advantage of their business model – to receive more income by locking up a number of inmates in order to fulfil their contracts, which must uphold “prison occupancy rates” otherwise taxpayers are paying for non-occupied prison cells, which would create low-crime taxes.

I don’t think I have to go any further to describe how very relevant New Slaves is. It would have been more understandable if you had said, “It’s a bad song.”

      • 5% Hov

Bro im guessing you never heard a Talib Kweli album or an Immortal Technique.

There clearly rambling of dude that wifed up a non-black whore – preaching about classism – as if old racism for masses doesn’t exists.

he references alot pro black sounding causes – wow “privately own prisons get ya piece today” – he doesnt actually say anything about it.

        it’s all surface imagery

Kanye has made it clear from his interviews – hes a narcissist not a revolutionary. He’s out for personal greatness not to address any of the human “social messages/themes” he references in his albums.

He is no panther. No dead prez. No nas. Sorry bruh. Confused megalomaniac lyrics that all stem from not understanding capitalism and business and expecting rich fashion industry onwers to GIVE him there businesses. LOL

      • Tyfromthechi

Yezzus flopped that good music album flopped and dark twisted fantasy flopped

      • Michael

By what standards do you define an album as a flop? Both albums certainly didn’t sell like flops.

      • Tyfromthechi

Them shits didnt go platinum bro like his previous work and dude been getting boooed alot look im a kanye fan im just giving my opinion dude been on some other shit the past five years he still got it he just haven’t been himself

      • HereWeGoYo

Not only did it go platinum but Dark Twisted was a critical and commercial success and is probably the most licensed album in recent memory. Clearly not a flop by anybody’s definition except those that want everything to sound like “old Kanye”. Yeezus is a different story. Pretty much everyone I know liked Dark Twisted (including myself). Nobody I know liked Yeezus (including myself).

      • Michael

Lol. I hope he Tyfromthechi reads this, because he doesn’t seem to know about Kanye’s financial success, including his estimated wealth of $100 million. I’m perfectly fine with the new Kanye, to be honest with you. Yeezus grew on me, and I like albums that display a development in the artist’s style.

  • I think he’ll pull a Ryan Leslie before he does what Beyoncé did.

  • Sounds like more blasphemy on the way

  • IROC

Dude on some weird shit these days

    • Carnagate

He’s got all the cash and fame he could ever want. Now he’s free to do whatever the hell he wants artistically. Of course it’s going to be different.

I hope he releases a visual album before my birthday next month. They should shoot it and get it edited and released yesterday. Or just leak the rest of black bruce wayne or something to hold me over until it comes out. There is a point where waiting to hear something new from Kanye makes me start getting frustrated at everything in my life.
