Timbaland: My Next Album Will Show Why "I'm The Greatest Who Ever Did It"

(AllHipHop News) Greatest of all time talk usually falls on deaf ears unless the person who is speaking has a reputation that precedes them. During a recent interview, the 15+ year veteran producer Timbaland explained how his upcoming album could be his last, his “Purple Rain”and evidence that he is “the greatest who ever did it.”

While there is no release date for his fourth solo album entitled Opera Noir, Timbaland explains to Rolling Stone that it will be his “grand finale” and “my Purple Rain”. After stating that there will be no features on this album, Timbaland explained why this album will prove he’s “the greatest who ever did it”:

Yeah, this is my Purple Rain solo album that I’m going to put out. I have no features on it. It’s called Opera Noir and it’s the most innovative work I’ve ever done. It’s all about truth and what’s going on around us. It’s about my personal truth: It’s one of the things that MediaTakeOut will care about, but I’m telling you what happened. I’m telling you: At this point, this happened. I’m telling you at this date, I’m telling you that I did this. I’m telling you that she did this or he did that.

Timbaland’s last solo project, 2009’s Shock Value II featured 22 different artists and sold under 38,000 copies in its opening week.

  • El Dogga

This is gonna flop like Lebron in the post! lol

    • Whitch sucks…bcus Timbo still makes good music

      • El Dogga

Yeah he does not his success is not in the hip-hop world anymore. He cranks up hits and bread with Timberlake and Nelly Fortado (however its spelled)

      • Nothing wrong with that…just shows versatility

      • El Dogga

Oh nah, I wasn’t knocking him at all. Just stating the facts. That’s where the REAL money is at! Justin goes Platinum out the gate all the time!

      • Somewhat true…Justin goes platinum out the gates “with Timbo production”

Timbaland is very slept on though…For “Off that” to be on a hip album…Jay Z at that, shows Timbos genius. That track was very slept on. You could actually hide that track, bring it back 5-10 years from now and that shit will prob. fit right in.

Not saying you’re knockin Tim though…just had to put that out there

      • El Dogga

LOL with Timbo production goes without saying! lol

I wasn’t a big fan of “Off That” though. “Say Something” went harder with the beat. Not drake crying on it though lol

      • Wtf…are you serious…”Say Something” was basic Timbo ish. “Off that” (Minus Drake) sounds like a track off the Fast N Furious 14…maybe even 15 soundtrack…LoL

      • El Dogga

Minus Drake…….now we are in agreement. It is a very futuristic track. I would try to pitch that for some movie theme song or something lol

  • Opposite Of Everyone

    greater than Quincy?

    • Immortal

      No one can claim that

  • need2morehands2give4thumbsdown

u got the greatest pack of hotdogs on the back of your neck…dat bout it

    • RapItUp

      LOL that’s fucked up

  • Jonathan Bacher

hate it when they talk with that much arrogance

  • Ike’s Mood

huh? the greatest to ever do what?

    • need2morehands2give4thumbsdown

      He put out Magoo …lol!!!!!

      • Ike’s Mood

        out of the house? lol!

  • yesanditcounts

The greatest who ever did something, is something people say about you. It is not what you say about yourself.

    • Opposite Of Everyone

If only Ye heeded that…. it’s OK to say it in a rap as it’s a legitimate element of the culture; but in an interview it just portrays you in a horrible light.

  • Markus

I love it when dudes say this next album of theirs will the best ever, compare it to a classic and then once it’s released, its not even close to great let alone a classic. Timbaland is a talented producer but if he’s making music that’s similar to what’s popular now, no way will it be a classic.

  • Immortal

It would be nice to hear an album where the artist is the ONLY one on there. I think it’s be a breath of fresh air. Don’t believe for a second he’s the greatest, but can say he’s easily in the top 10. I hope he doesn’t try to take someone on a ride of how poor he was, how much whatever he sold to get by, and how much of a struggle it was to get where he is. Make it a progression of his musical style over the years and it could be his “Purple Rain”.

  • RIP Timbaland 1990-2009

    • 5% Hov

***Pours out some Ciroc on Missy’s & Magoo’s dead corpse….

      • lmao

      • Changeclothz

      • ChiVa02

        LMBAO!!! That’s cold…but true.. Lol..

  • John Q. Public

  • AlbertoRipRon

Or that you like to pick weird rappers to be featured on your album.

  • Poseidon

Timbo’s never been one to mince words when it comes to addressing his own epic greatness haha. Truth be told though, he’s had more hits go to radio than anyone on the planet and the stats prove it (producer credits-wise). F*ck it, I’d probably be feeling myself too if I had that kind of track record to back it up…….

(Damn, that first Timbaland era seems like yesterday: Mid-late 90’s….. 20 something….. Smashing randoms on the couch…… Timbaland sounds…… Hype Williams visuals…… 3 chambered bongs and 40 ounces strewn about the coffee table…… The Golden Era….. Not a care in the world…… Hahaha, smfh, good times. Tim’s been doin it though.)

Everybody is producing these days & a lot of people are extremely good these days so Timothy needs to humble himself because they ain’t stop making guns when they made his . & my little cousin is dropping banger’s ! You got some hungry nobodies out there putting the new Rza the new Dre & the new whoever’s to complete shame & utter embarrassment starting off with my little nobody cousin who will blow you away on fruity loops cut it out . People like 50 cent already know what time it is he saves his money & get a nobody extra quick who sounds like a somebody . before you know it he gotta hit & you’ll be hearing the song years later in the background of a Madonna interview or something like Cribs on MTV .

Man, Timbaland really needs to humble down seriously. His latter productions aren’t as good. What makes it even more crazier is that he has been using co-producers (Wizz Dumb, Danja, Jim Beanz, and Jerome “J-Roc” Harmon) and his beats still sound the same.
