Remy Ma-Papoose 2

EXCLUSIVE: Papoose Talks Joining “Love & Hip Hop: New York” Cast With Wife Remy Ma

(AllHipHop News) Last night (July 6), Remy Ma appeared on VH1’s After Party Live! to announce she will be the newest cast member of Love & Hip Hop: New York. The Bronx rapstress will not be alone when she joins season six of the popular reality show. Remy’s husband Papoose is also set to be part of the Mona Scott-Young produced series. spoke with Papoose about his upcoming turn on LHHNY, and the creator of the soon-to-be-released You Can’t Stop Destiny album discussed the couple’s decision to take the reality show route.

“We’re both creative. We live a real life, so we don’t have a problem showing that to the world,” says Pap. “We are the true definition of love and Hip Hop.”

The reality displayed on Love & Hip Hop has led to some of its stars not being shown in the best light. Fights, adultery, financial issues, and other personal complications are all captured by the cameras, but Papoose is not worried about he and his spouse being viewed negatively.

“I can’t really speak for nobody else, but I know who I am,” adds the Brooklyn native. “Like I said, nothing’s fraud over here. Everything is official. Everything is family orientated. So I’m not really concerned about that.”

Papoose’s second studio album You Can’t Stop Destiny is scheduled for release on July 17. The project is available for pre-order on iTunes. Listen to his track “The Plug” produced by DJ Premier below.

  • I guess she needs this after a botched return. I would really love to hear good music from her. Hopefully when she does drop a project it won’t be the bs we hear today

  • Q.

…This what Hip-Hop artists have been reduced to?

  • 1Fly_A$$_N!gg@

Second studio album? This n!gga been in the game for like 10 yrs and only released 2 albums smh thats why he doing the show .mixtape rapper

    • Realist4200

Thing is, all of the bubblegum no-content-having “entertainers” have conditioned you to think an album needs to be released every year or 2 with mixtapes and features in between. Real artists don’t rush it. Some of the best names in the game take years between albums and that’s just the way it is.

      • 1Fly_A$$_N!gg@

Yeah but it dont take 10 years to do 2 albums and hes not even in consideration for top 10 in the game so your comment is irrelevant nigga so get of his dick stan

      • Realist4200

I never said he was top 10 or anywhere near it. Small minds jump to conclusions though, calm down.

His mixtapes were basically albums. If you count them he easily has like 6 classic albums.

  • Who photoshopped this nigga bicep on the main page?!?

    • Dex Corneli

Haha either it’s photoshopped, or dude spends hours working on his biceps and nothing else.

    • Inmadopicouroz✓QUEENSᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

he was pumping it alot in his cell my G, pause.

oh yeah Remy Ma is garbage!

      • Lmfao pumpin’ it though….

  • one of the nicest emcees on trash tv is not a good look but if this is there shot at getting some mainstream light why not BROOKLYN

  • Black Ego Trip

Can someone give me a 2 or 3 liner on why Papoose never blew up the way folks were expecting? I remember him making noise in the mid-2000s but nothing seemed to come out of it.

    • Drake’s 3rd best Ghostwriter

Lyricists are fun to listen to, except for when being lyrical is the ONLY thing they know how to do well. Then it gets boring quickly. You have to have other parts of your game as well.

        well explained

      • cromthelaughinggod7

Him interesting. It gets boring for some. Those some are the people who are more into mindless lyricism. ABC elementary bars. It is catchy easy to grasp. You can dance to it sing to it. I get that but from the other side that too gets boring. How many cars, ice, hoes, and money can you talk about every single song. The average American doesn’t have that. I agree and disagree. Eminem’s white fan base made him a rich man because he is white yet he is a lyricist. He doesn’t have club hits like that. It depends on who you are. Nas is lyrical but had to make commercial hits also.

      • Drake’s 3rd best Ghostwriter

Subject matter isn’t paps problem. Em and Nas are different. Eminem can make you laugh, he can make you think, he can evoke some kind of emotion in you when you listen to him. Pap can’t do all of that. Nas is in a class of his own. He’s the best lyricist. He’s much more well rounded than Pap. Damn near every line is a quotable. His worst is better than just about everyone else’s best. His first album alone kills almost anyone’s top ten. He can make just about any kind of sound and not sound out of place. .

You clearly haven’t really listened to Pap’s catalog. Pap evokes emotion with his music. He is the supreme lyricist in the game today. Pap spits rhymes no ones ever used before and that’s a rarity. Peep:

        Higher Learning
        License to Kill
        Turn it Up
Second Place is the First Loser
        Shot Caller freestyle
        The Robbery Song
        Mind Body Soul

I could go on and on. Pap is on some next level ish. He truly is too advanced for a majority of people. Nas is in a category all by himself alright. Greatest lyricist that only releases one hot album every 10 years. He’s dope I like him, I bought Illmatic when it first came out so I have watched his career unfold in real time and it is a damn shame what it turned into. Something is lacking in Nas’s consciousness. He could have had all his albums produced by Pete Rock, Premier, Large Pro, etc etc. but he chooses weak cheap beats instead. Nevermind when he did the whole Oochie Wally and You Owe Me stuff .and Nas stans pretend like this never existed. Nas has been marketed as the rapper for people that like lyricism. He makes horrendous albums.

      • Dark Matters

I would say formulaic or forced lyricism (that is out of tone with the beat) gets boring to listen to – when it’s no longer a surprise. When you can start guessing the end of dude’s lines, you can tell they’re resorting to a formula. It gets boring at that point.

Papoose’s flow has really improved, though (and even then it’s still mildly offbeat). When he first came out and sounded like he was force chewing the words to come out of his mouth. It sounded horrendous. I couldn’t listen to him, at that point.

      • Black Ego Trip

Thanks for that. I was wondering if there was any drama to it (i.e. folks blaming Wyclef for “ruining” Canibus’ career) but sounds like he just never connected

    • puffinpiff

his flow was always more or less the same, too many mixtapes and no album till like 10 years later, his voice gets annoying after 2 songs but he has lyrics which seriously if he went in to battle rap he would be on top but as for rappin its over.

  • tha OG

    This nigga just want attention

when your career is going nowhere, run to LOVE AND HIP HOP!

  • jacksjus

Well since the music was moving well for him, might as well take advantage of some decent income.

  • cromthelaughinggod7

See it is just that the machine today doesn’t push really intelligent lyrics unless you are backed with ignorance. Chief Keef, Soulja Boy are terrible lyricist but put out hits that the clubs play. It is how you market yourself. Papoose if he was white and had a machine behind him that would make him an eminem. Sad to say hiphop has change. BET is owned by Viacom rich white jews. They don’t want that intelligent shit on their channel. It isn’t black owned anymore. Radios won’t play it. Papoose is just as nice as Jay Z but Jay is a business man as he said. This new album is incredible so far but if it was in the 90’s pap would be considered a legend. People like him and Canibus can’t live in the commercial industry these days. Underground is where hiphop lives. People hate on pap and I don’t know why. He is highly skilled far above most top 5 rappers. He puts out music that has different concepts and meanings. It isn’t just a title with random lyrics. We praise eminem when he puts out a crap album and stupid song like just loose it. Millions say it is brilliant mainly white stans but you get my drift. Iggy Azaelia sells because she has sex appeal and is white. She is garbage but again it is racial politics and who runs the entertainment/music industry.

    • Freezamon

No…. racist Zionist jews run Rap music ..Not Hip-Hop… Hip-Hop is a culture thats held at a high standard by those who truly participate in the culture. “Rap is what we do…Hip-Hop is what we live”- KRS ONE.
