Protesters Ask For Hot 97 To Fire Funkmaster Flex is usually for boycotts and petitions of a political sort, but tonight it was utilized to demand that Hot 97 fire DJ Funkmaster Flex.

Azeem Khan, Digital Strategy Consultant in New York, is the architect behind the already infamous petition. He told exclusively why he started the now-trending topic.

“It’s one thing to be wrong by mistake, but he’s been gassing up this beef like no other. Everything is about clicks. This was straight up lying though. He’s needed to step down for a while now. I didn’t realize it would blow like this, but he should at least see what the fans really want. And that’s to not be lied to,” Khan told AllHipHop. “Everyone was tuned in, and he gave us the best pump fake since Michael Jordan in the 98 Finals. His site already picked it up, and he IG’d it. That just further shows he thinks he’s really just above everyone else. And he’s not.”

The petition has over 4,000 supporters as of this writing and continues to grow. In the petition, Khan outlines his feelings.

There has always been word that DJ Funk Funkmaster Flex was not someone who was willing to give up his position at Hot 97 for his slot. Despite constant critiques from everywhere for the old man to step down, and give the younger people a shot he decided to stay where he was. Last year Dame Dash was at the forefront of the movement saying that Funk Flex really needs to just leave. Well, today was the last straw. This fraud of a DJ decided to lie to everyone for ratings and downloads of the Hot 97 app that Meek Mill would be on tonight to release a diss track to Drake to no avail. No one has given Hot 97 two hours of listening time since Biggie was alive, and it’s a crime to have taken that from us. The people have spoken and it is time for Funk Flex to step down. The Petition

Khan admitted that starting the petition has a very base reason.

He said, “I guess it’s a sense of disappointment on my part. I’m glad I started it because it goes to show I’m not alone on this. And the people deserve to be heard.”

Flex should get fired over exposing Drake? Puhlease,,,,

  • Inmadopicouroz✓QUEENSᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Meek was too scared to come to the station monday night to drop his reply to Drake and he missed the flight with Nicki Minaj to Toronto for tuesday nights show.

Philly take this dearly beloved L

Dude, you often talk some bullsh*t (as do we all) , but you nailed this one.

  • ihatehater

While I am very happy to finally see the people have finally realized how the power lies in our hands. Now only if we can use them for even bigger purposes like killing the word “nig**@” “degrading our women” “promoting black on black violence” and all other things that are pulling our community back…we would still have the Hip Hop we love without feeling guilty about it. That’s my dream anyway. Love hip hop to the core.

  • hoeyuno

Flex i s lame juice. Drake is lame juice. Who the fucc cares. Flex likes the easy targets. Drake is a pop singer who is no different then Will Smith rapping, lil bow wow, soulja boy,MC Hammer, Puff(no mogul)when him and mase were rapping…Peoples giving this too much thought. Im from the North and love how Drake broke through the boarder. Emcees from Vancouver, Montreal, Winnipeg have been trying to do that since the beginning. Maestro Fresh Wes, Rascslz, Saukratres, Bliss, Swollen Members, Winnipegs Most all skilled but couldt get passed local….But I hate how Drake took that ish and turned it into a Drag show…I got off topic but my point was Drakes a rapping Justin Bieber and yall are giving him too much thought.

    • arrdeesss

You just gave a lot of thoughts yourself there guy….. or should i say the pot.

A petition? You would have to have no life no job no money and no honey to waste your life petitioning to get someone fired. Find something better to do with your time bud.

Dude’s show is from 7 to midnight. He probably had a big audience waiting for bombs dropping from Meek between the usual explosions on Flex’s program. To not deliver is a double barrel semiautomatic fully equipped middle finger to anyone who sat through the entire five hours. So maybe he should be fried for that.

…..Or you could just, you know, stop listening to him and change to the other rap station.

This whole Social Justice Warrior” Cry as loud as I can until the powers that be change my diaper” culture has gotten truly pathetic. If you want Flex to lose his job, stop listening to him and eventually if enough people follow suit the station will fire him out of concern for their station. If not enough people tune out on their own, than that must mean he still has an audience and you shouldn’t have the right to tell them that their wrong. I haven’t liked Flex since the 90’s but if there is one group of people I’ll stand with him against, it’s the losers who would even care enough to make an online petition about something this trivial.

Furthermore, if your still listening to FM radio in 2015, you deserve whoever they stick you with.

The best way to get Fu*kmaster Flex fired is to keep away from his show. Low ratings is what’s gonna get the attention of the owners.

  • Damany G

I didn’t realize just how lame not 97 is…. I tuned in myself and all I heard was the same playlist every hour on the hour. I don’t really listen to radio anymore but I can see why…… Flex is done!!

  • flex is corny its not his ages but its just him being him but Azeem Khan makes me say hmmm

  • fire him for what meek didn’t deliver if they can listen to his 15 minute rants every night for the past 20 years with bombs going off in the background and they didn’t want him gone then why they want him gone now

Wooow, punk-ass moderators denied my last post because I not down with this dumb petition! Way to silence somebody that has an opinion that is not the same of others! F*ck Drake and any rapper that doesn’t write his own lyrics but claims to be “the best”. . Applause to Flex and any other DJ that has the balls to call out fake rappers and not just take that “pay-to-play” money! What u idiots don’t understand is that Flex doesn’t own the radio station..and he has bosses that “green lit” the decision to “lie” about dropping a track. Did any of you stop to think Flex’s bosses chose NOT to play the track or Meek decided NOT to share the track?? Flex won’t be fired..hopefully he quits, gets his own satellite radio station where he can say and play whatever he wants! Then these fake-ass rappers will have to face reality about being fraud! Flex won’t be the last DJ to call out a rapper! Just to clarify..u idiots want Flex fired because one of his bosses pulled the plug on releasing that track, and that your dumb-ass decides to wait 2 hours to hear a track that would have been posted an hour later online or the next day! You geniuses should have just waited till the song posted later on.. PS: Meek didn’t post the song yet either, which leads me to believe Flex probably had nothing to do with that track not being released..

      Flex Stop Trolling

      • Jmo-Texas

I dont want you to believe Flex has time to “troll” the internet!

      • 75©ent

        lol bull-shit

      • 75©ent

        well you are

      • Jmo-Texas

Well well..8 hours later, in absence of my reply, you felt the need to respond again just because I hadn’t yet. Let’s see the internet’s definition of a “troll”: “troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion. Media attention in recent years has equated trolling with online harassment.” All of which sounds like what you are.. All I did was state my opinion on the current subject of conversation. On top of that, it turns out Flex probably didn’t have anything to do with that song not being I stated in my first post!
