  • W.E.B. Du Bois

people demanded multiple good songs on album then – not setteling for one hit albums now

    • they are still demanding which is why they not buying sht.

    • Papi Peligro

I think we played the albums longer. Ninjas be fronting on here like they had every album from back then. Truth be told my brother was a music collector and couldn’t afford every single album. You played the albums longer. Now you have an unlimited access to every album and you don’t hold onto the album as long to find the nuggets. I put coming out hard right under only built for Cuban Lynx album was cover to cover but that’s cause I owned those two albums.

  • brandycavalli

Reblogged this on The Pen Hustle .

  • hoeyuno

Good list. Id have Das Efx “Hold It Down, Too $hort “Cocktales”, The Alkaholiks “Coast 2 Coast” on there….Probably a few I cant think of right now but in 95 my Sony Sport was on 80% of the day

  • 2012Industry1

The Top 3 was the best i’ve seen. Last year of so many Classic/Near-Classic Albums

    • Chris Ridiculoslylongnfakemidd

If it’s in order they shitted on ODB

  • great list. Glad to see we playing most of these but still gotta catch up on a few. thanks

    • Shad Reed

    • bitterdose

      Illmatic was in 94′

  • jeffrey Jones

When you look at this list you realize hip hop is dead and buried.

  • Kamal the 1st

Any list from 1995 in incomplete without:

    Too Short – Cocktails
    The Luniz – Operation Stackola
    Mack 10 – Mack 10

In fact, the Luniz probably should’ve been int he top 5. it sold a million copies and had two bonafied classics – I Got 5 on it and Playa Hata.

    • thanks!!!!! I just said that above, they only cre about NY Hip Hop on this blog thats why when anything be on fire on the west coast they follow suite they dont invest there time in caring about the West

    • Luniz dropped there first full on record in 1995

  • poloplayboi

Nice top 4, two of some of my favorite albums ever. Me against the world, and Soul Food. Just like he said, music isn’t like this anymore. Ben Hill been real Southwest A

  • JINX

Not a jay z or nas album no biggie you put onyx up there that album was just ok this list is bullshit go and do it over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

    • therealjjohnson

Because jay z and big didn’t drop an album from Jan 1 1995 thru December 31 1995. The first sentence of this article tells you the time frame.

    • MassConglom

Last Dayz was Onyx’s dopest album in my opinion, you can listen to it all the way through.

      • JINX

I did listen to it and it was just ok it’s not a classic album bottom line

  • jacksjus

I stopped after W.C & The MAAD Circle. Smh!

    • Ain’t No Future In Yo Frontin’

Man that shit is the shit

  • Phoenix

no DMX tho? or Jay Z?

    • therealjjohnson

What album did they drop in 1995? Did you even read the point of this list?

      • cromthelaughinggod7

Yeah Phoenix is right. Jay Z first album reasonable doubt came out in 1996 then he dropped many classics thereafter. DMX was 1998. Nix my comment haha it says exactly 20 years so I was wrong.

      • Phoenix

you’re right sir, I did not read the title correctly. I assumed that maybe they just had a typo as they usually do, but good look on pointing that out.

  • Warfam Raw

Dang where’s the chronic, the d.o.c no one can do it better, thug life, extinction level event, the diary, lil Jon & the east side boys all that good stuff?

    • Shock

Chronic came out over twenty years ago

  • Prophet08

Of all the albums that could be chosen….none of these have had any influence on anything. The AZ mention is ridiculous.

    • need2morehands2give4thumbsdown

Cuban links nigga? just cause you were influenced by c&c music factory don’t say no dumb shit like that again

  • RapItUp

I was 8 in 95… (showing my age here) but.. I do have 4 albums off this list.. a lot of these whole albums I haven’t heard (and have of course heard tracks of many of these albums)

The ones I can name off top, Liquid Swords, The Infamous, OB4CL.. oo, and need to purchase Lifestylez (Big L’s wordplay and delivery is HARLEM flow to me) waiting on a deal on iTunes.. lol

and some of these cats below, talking about cd’s that didn’t even come out in 95.. lol

  • OnlyFaDaReal

Just shows how much the music has changed for the worst

  • cromthelaughinggod7

Where is illmatic and reasonable doubt? You are bugging. Good albums but yeah those two should have been on the list. Reasonable doubt was June 1996. I know illmatic is longer than 20 years so I get it.

    • Lu Chin

      This isn’t from over the last 20 years…it’s from 20 years ago…1995

  • Jama

ATLiens before Soul Food. Outkast got no love.

EDIT: How come they couldn’t of just said best albums of that year?

    • Two-Inch Killa

why should do only a full blown reti or an illi won’t understand what they said

  • TimeWillTellu1

    NO scarface or UGK?

  • need2morehands2give4thumbsdown

    hell on earth
adrenaline rush (ok im biased on this one lol)

    • Lu Chin

This was a list from 1995!!! How are people missing this???

      • need2morehands2give4thumbsdown

        oh! lol!

      • Isa Ibn Maryam

        No Brothaz Doobie
        Junior Mafia
        Operation Stakola
        Season of the Siccness
Game Related…the list is flawed. Not to mention Beastie Boys Ep that year…

      • Isa Ibn Maryam

Damn they even had the gall to leave The Roots Do You Want More? Off the list major fail…

  • Heart of a Slave, Blood of a k

Never heard the pharcyde, WC or group home but other than that, it’s a stellar list.

    • hoeyuno

Pharcyde did “passing me by”..They were a hip hop group from cali that were in the same lane as Tha Alkaholiks and Hiero. Group Home were gangstarr affiliates that had some dope records like “the realness” and “Livin Proof.. WC was one of Ice Cubes guys in Westside Connection

      • Heart of a Slave, Blood of a k

Ive heard of them but never heard those albums.

  • MADNEWYORKER914
