(AllHipHop News) As a founding member of the world-renowned R & B group –Earth, Wind, & Fire — Maurice White has been on the world’s stage since 1969. As a co-lead singer, essential writer, and producer Mr. White’s creativity helped secure their legendary status. Yesterday (Feb. 4), at the age of 74, Maurice White would pass away in his sleep.

Reared in Memphis, following his high school graduation, Mr. White would make the move to the Wind City. It was there that he discovered his organic ability to make music. His musical career was solidified as an employee of the Chess Recording company. He would work there for five years.

Due to complications with Parkinson’s, back in the ’80’s, he had to step away from the stage’s spotlight. Regardless of that setback, Earth, Wind, & Fire’s legacy was already applauded by history. A slew of accomplishments have been amassed by the group’s artist efforts.

The group has earned multiple American Music Awards, several Grammy awards, a permanent star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and an induction into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame.

Rest In Peace.
