PBS To Air Documentary About The Black Panthers On ‘Independent Lens’

(AllHipHop News) Even with all the controversy surrounding Beyoncé’s homage to the Black Panther Party during the Super Bowl halftime show, many people may not be fully aware of the history of the BPP. Filmmaker Stanley Nelson explores the organization’s significance to the broader American culture in the documentary The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution.

Nelson uses rare archival footage and remarks of the people that were directly connected to the revolutionary movement including Black Panthers who remained loyal to the party and those who left it. He also showcases the police, FBI informants, journalists, as well as white supporters and detractors. The film features Kathleen Cleaver, Jamal Joseph, and dozens of others.

The Black Panthers: Vanguard of The Revolution is scheduled to air February 16th at 9/8C on PBS’ Independent Lens. To check local listings visit pbs.org.

FYI: I’ve noticed that there’s a new crop of white supremacists who are running with the myth that the Black Panthers were the equivalent to the KKK. The KKK was a terrorist group, formed mainly in part to deter Black people from voting. The Panthers were formed in part as a defense mechanism to deter systematic police brutality in Black neighborhoods. The Panthers didn’t stop white folks from voting nor lynch white folks. Stimulus vs Response. Don’t let these devils keep twisting the narrative.

dont forget these black advocates for the devil pushing the same misinformation.
Breakfast wouildnt be served in school if it wasnt for the Black Panther Party For SELF DEFENSE…….
whats really funny is the same thing the tea party THINK they fighting for was implemented to deter the BPP. guns laws for starters, less government and power to ALL the people.

True indeed. Most of these outspoken white supremacists are poor, and don’t realize that they have more in common with poor Black folks than they realize. The same beast getting at us is pimping them too.

I’m definitely watching this shit! That shit must’ve have scared the shit out of some white people, and I say some because there were whites that felt they had a constitutional right to do exactly what they were doing. The rest of the muthafuckas who didn’t this made them piss themselves.
