First Lady Michelle Obama Drops New Single With Missy, Kelly Rowland, Janelle Monae And More

FLOTUS HAS A NEW JAM “FOR HER GIRLS!”

(AllHipHop News) We can officially say that there will never be a First Lady of the United States quite like our current First Lady Michelle Obama.

Joining forces with Missy Elliott, Kelly Clarkson, Diane Warren, Zendaya, Janelle Monae, Lea Michele, Kelly Rowland, Jadagrace and Chloe & Halle, the First Lady has made a women’s empowerment song not to be forgotten.

The track is titled, “This Is For My Girls”  and is produced by AOL’s MAKERS, a digital platform showcasing the stories of women according to the Huffington Post.

The track is written by Oscar nominated Diane Warren, and is in support of providing more than 62 million women across the world the necessary education to live more productive lives.

“This is for my girls, all around the world / Stand up, hold your head up / Don’t take nothing from nobody / This is for my girls, stand up and be heard / This is for my ladies, my sisters all over / This is for my girls”

Maritza Ascencios, from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Media Center, told MediaGlobal, “Educating girls is a surefire way to raise economic productivity, lower infant and maternal mortality, improve nutritional status and health, reduce poverty, and wipe out HIV/AIDS and other diseases.”

According to the United Nations Girls Education Initiative, “poverty is a major contributor. If a family has limited funds and has to be selective on whom to send to school, more often than not, it is going to be the boys.”

“Adverse cultural practices also contribute to this occurrence, because girls are more likely to stay home and be “taught” to be housewives. Primary education for them is not always seen as necessary.”
