Mmh. Sad day. Phife was a really great rapper. One of the best to ever rock a mic.
I salute to this brother. It’s him and Q-tip who made me love Hip-Hop forever.
No gimmicks no fake gangster stories. Just raw skills on the mic. Thanks Phife for
all the music you gave us while you were here. i own every Tribe album. And yeah
I paid money for it. Because they are all timeless masterpieces and they are worth
far more than the money I spent. goodbye and thanks for enriching all our lives.

On a side note. We black people need Vitamin D (sunshine) for our bodies to work
properly. It is very important that we care about our health. Complications like diabetes
and kidney disease are very easily preventable. Just learn about minerals and vitamins
for nutrition. Whatever you buy in a supermarket is not food. It’s just filling matter to
make you fat and unhealthy. The rule, whatever is packed in a box is not worth the
money. Get real fresh foods. Avoid sugars and starches.

When I saw ATCQ perform on Jimmy Fallon back in November, I knew Phife wasn’t looking too healthy, but he was fresh dipped in his Mets gear, repping NY as usual, rocking through it like a trooper. It was a very long struggle with the ups and downs of diabetes and the kidney failure and transplant. Things were looking better, then it seemed like he was due for a another kidney…man. I’m glad those brothers got to work it out and reunite one last time for the fans. I guess that last performance was destined. Many condolences to Malik’s family and wife Deisha and his brothers, Jarobi, Tip, and Ali…ATCQ Forever! First Sean P, now Phife Dawg. Gone too soon. Very sad day for HIP-HOP.

Steady eating booty MCs like cheese grits
My man Al B. Sure, he’s in effect mode
Used to have a crush on Dawn from En Vogue
It’s not like honey dip would wanna get with me
But just in case I own more condoms than TLC”

On another note, I wonder how Q Tip is feeling. After all, he did try to make light of Phife’s sickness in that movie. Although they probably worked through it, his ass-hole-ism is permanently on display in that film for all to see….

I have loved ones that had diabetes that i tried ripping cans of soda, ice creams etc out of their hand. People are stubborn in their ways. im not mad at phife or my family member, who knows?? he’s quoted as saying he was addicted to sugar and was a diabetic. It’s sad really. Every chances you get in life gives you a chance to live longer if you work hard at it. Diet, lean chicken, tuna, crunchy green vegies, ice cold water. I was over weight a 4 years ago and i did it because i was SCARED of getting diabetes etc. now im good and will never go back. im not on that diet no more. now everything is in moderation.

Yeah, dude was reckless with that sugar. You can actually be okay with that as long as your body has a way to burn it off. You have to exercise.

I’m mad at myself still about moms but what could I do? Stay away from work and smack it out her hands? Still fu(K’s my heAd up years and years later.

      • Black Jay Supreme

Yeah, but no matter what, we all have to make that trip. Some just sooner than others. It’s hard to make it through this life without becoming an addict to something. Whether it’s sugar, drugs, sex, adrenaline, or food, we all usually have some addiction. We just have to realize that life is short and try to enjoy what little time we have.

RIP to the 5 foot Footer. No more suffering my G. Rest easy King. I was just saying how there are no more duos in Hip Hop anymore.

  5. King Kredible

In 1991 I gave him the most improved MC award. Peoples Instinctive Travels is legendary, but Phife was basically Tip’s sidekick on that album. But on Low End Theory this dude broke through with crazy bars that showed the world he could see any MC. I remember most of us sleeping on dude until Low End Theory. Makes me wonder if they held him back on purpose on that first album.

I haven’t felt this sad since Gifted Unlimted Rhymes Universal !! I really hope Q-Tip & Phife Dawg settled their differences. You don’t want bullshit on your heart after this.

    • TheAfroRican

I hope they settled their differences too.

“Now when somebody is gone, that’s when you realize how close you was
how close you are….like a star
Real deep it takes time to heal
And still from time to time you wish you could find the way to forgive and let him know you forgave,
but they can’t feel six feet deep inside the grave”

Cos they lyrics is played like 8-Ball jackets
Now tell me I can’t tear it up
Go get yourself some toilet paper cos your lyrics is butt”

    Rest in Peace,

When part of what made hip-hop special passes on,it’s tough. Dude wasn’t a Top 5 lyricist but he was part of some of the all time greatest songs in hip-hop history. Him and Q-Tip fit so well together and created so many classics that will live on forever. He’s gone but the Tribe lives on. Thank you for your contributions to this art and you are forever appreciated. Rest in peace and condolences to his family and friends.

    • AL Dunbar

But he had one of the most remembered lines in hip hop history ” bust on your couch and you have semen furniture”

      • Markus

That was a dope line. I was saying that even though he wouldn’t be one of the best ever,he definitely had his moments.

      • that dude

And the other one “buss inside your eye, to show you where I cum from”….

  9. ChiVa02

Man…grew up on this brother and Q-tips music. Was just putting a young blood at my job on to the Tribe after he told me he was listening to dope Hip Hop artist from the 90’s and asked who were some of the best to ever do it. Tribe was first on the list. R.I.P. Phife Dawg.
