“The Godfathers of Streetball” & Rappers To Hold Court On Memorial Day

Six of the greatest names in Streetball history

will come to together with their All-Star squads this Memorial Day for "The

Godfathers of Streetball Memorial Day Weekend 2003" in Venice Beach, CA.

Ken Graham (West 4th St.-NYC), Joe Cruz, Sr.

(Hoops In The Sun-Bronx, NY), "Lefty" Boyd (The Low End Tournament-Chicago),

Sonny Hill (The Sonny Hill League-Philadelphia), Dino Smiley (The Drew League-Los

Angeles), and hometown product Ken Hicks (Summer Basketball Showdown-Venice

Beach, CA) will showcase their legendary talents alongside teammates of their

choosing and vie for the Hoops By the Beach Streetball championship in a three-day

round-robin tournament.

For over ten years Hoops By The Beach, founded

by Lester B. Jackson, has been showcasing the hottest Streetball talent from

across the country, drawing major celebrities, current and former NBA players,

and some of Hip-Hop’s most prominent acts.

Hoops By The Beach and Adidas America present

this annual event, and proceeds from the Slam Dunk competition will benefit

the Venice & LA Boys & Girls Club.

Rap artists Daz Dillinger, Soopafly, and Sen

Dog (Cypress Hill) will be in attendance as the celebrity judges for the Slam

Dunk competition. The event schedule is as follows:
