Protesters Cause Chaos During NYC's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

THE THANKSGIVING PARADE IN NEW YORK CITY HAS BEEN DISRUPTED

AllHipHop is on the scene at today’s New York City’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and things are getting ugly. Objects were being thrown off the roof at NYPD officers at 37th street and sixth avenue and police are steadily making arrests. It turns out that this uproar was all planned, according to the New York Post.

Today’s disorderly activities are a continuation of the protests from Monday night (Nov. 24) after people became outraged over the grand jury’s decision to not indict officer Darren Wilson. After protesters were able to march and shut down major New York City roadways like the FDR Drive and the West Side Highway without police interference for two nights in a row, they set sights on today’s parade and were lead by an organizer named Magiq.

“The police aren’t going to arrest us and they are not going to shoot us,” said the 27-year-old Brooklynite to two dozen people in Union Square. “They’re walking right by us now with their heads down and their tails between their legs.”

Through the hashtag, #StopTheParade Magiq was able to gather people and further organize more chaos for today’s festivities.

People are still getting arrested, with six being taken into custody already for throwing the object off of the roof. Watch footage of one of the arrests made today here.
