(AllHipHop News) Zaytoven was the man behind the boards for Atlanta rap group Migos’ break out hit “Versace.” The 2013 single launched countless remixes and ignited the use of the song’s flow by rappers from Drake to Soulja Boy to King Los to J. Cole.

In an exclusive interview with AllHipHop.com, Zaytoven was asked for his thoughts on other rap acts embracing the style of rhyming recently popularized by the ATL trio.
“I would really say it’s biting. Guys like Migos – what made those guys popular was their flow. That’s what made them stand out,” said Zay. “I know last year after the song came out, every rapper that’s in the game was using that same flow. So I almost see it as biting, because people will wear it out.”
The conversation also included the frequent Migos collaborator speaking on the crew’s latest joint effort. Quavo, Takeoff, and Offset teamed with R&B superstar Usher for the Zaytoven produced track “Still Got It.” Zay worked with Ush before on the 2009 Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart topper “Papers.”
“When his people reached back out to me this time they said, ‘We need a track for Usher. We’re working on his album and we want you to give us the same kind of music you’re giving to Migos,'” revealed Zaytoven. “So when I sent them the beat they hit me back like, ‘We got one. Now what we need you to do is get Migos to get on the song.’ I was thinking that anyway. To me, that was the perfect combination.”
Last week, Zaytoven released the new joint project Beast Mode with fellow Atlanta native Future. Zay sees he and the “Move That Dope” performer as an official producer/rapper group. They expect to release videos and do tour dates to support the 9-track project.
