Frank Ocean’s Production Partner Malay Talks Delay In ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ Album

THE ‘CHANNEL ORANGE’ COLLABORATOR TAKES PART IN AN ASK ME ANYTHING SESSION

(AllHipHop News) James “Malay” Ho played a significant role in the creation of Frank Ocean’s award-winning debut album. Malay is credited as a producer on 13 tracks off channel ORANGE.

As fans wait for Ocean to drop his highly anticipated sophomore studio album, Malay spoke with followers of the New Orleans R&B singer via a Reddit Ask Me Anything session.

One user questioned Malay about Ocean’s fans having to repeatedly deal with misleading anticipation for Boys Don’t Cry. Another user asked about the rumor that the album was supposed to be released on August 5.

“First of all we all massively appreciate and love you guys, Frank has told me this himself many times. To be fair tho, art cannot be rushed,” responded Malay. “It’s about making sure the perfect aesthetic for the situation has been reached, to do that, takes constant tweaking, trial and error.. That goes for any creative [situation].”

He later wrote, “Never heard of an actual date.. Then again I don’t pay attention to a lot of stuff.”
