(AllHipHop News) Detroit music mogul Brian “Peanut” Brown appeared in a courtroom today (March 29) and scored a major victory.

The Detroit News published a story titled “Detroit Empire,” indicating that the DEA was investigating Brown as the head of a sprawling heroin empire that takes in millions.

Court documents that were briefly unsealed show that authorities believe Brown is using his rap label BMB Records to launder his drug proceeds.

Prosecutors and Brown’s defense lawyer squared off during a 2 p.m. hearing, where prosecutors claimed Brown was a danger to the community.

U.S. District Judge Nancy Edmunds shot down the feds’ request today, noting that Brown is complying with the terms of his bond for a March, 2016 gun charge.

Judge Edmunds she would revisit the matter on June 29.

Brown is the owner of BMB Records which has signed artists such as Ray J, Bre-Z, and Charli Baltimore.

The feds claim the label is really a front for a heroin operation, which imports the drugs into Michigan from groups connected to Mexican cartels in California.
