SZA is expanding her acting portfolio with a major voice role in the upcoming “CoComelon: The Movie,” marking her continued transition from music to film after her successful debut in “One of Them Days.”
The animated feature, set for release by Universal on February 19, 2027, brings together a powerhouse ensemble cast that includes Ike Barinholtz, Nicholas Hoult, SNL’s Sarah Sherman and Ego Nwodim, alongside Josh Johnson, Matt Friend, Rhys Darby, and Cristo Fernández.
According to Deadline, younger talent voicing key roles includes Connor Esterson as JJ, Camden Brooks as Cody, Olivia London Leyva as Nina, and Aerina DeBoer as CeCe.
SZA’s move into voice acting represents a strategic expansion of her entertainment presence beyond her Grammy-winning music career.
After making her feature film debut in the buddy comedy “One of Them Days” alongside Keke Palmer, where she demonstrated her willingness to take on acting challenges, the North Carolina native is now diving deeper into the medium.
Her involvement with CoComelon, one of the world’s most dominant children’s franchises, signals that she’s serious about building a legitimate acting portfolio rather than treating film as a one-off venture.
The franchise originated in 2006 as a YouTube channel and has since become a global phenomenon, reaching more than 80 countries with more than 4 billion average monthly views on YouTube.
