(AllHipHop News) In 1993, Wu-Tang Clan released their debut album Enter The 36 Chambers which subsequently spawned volumes of solo albums from its group members. 20 years later and emerging Hip Hop powerhouse Top Dawg Entertainment is prepping the release of their second studio album, Schoolboy Q’s Oxymoron, since signing with Interscope Records. The label’s current spokesperson, soft spoken but lyrically abrasive Kendrick Lamar spoke with Guerilla Union about the history of Top Dawg Entertainment’s best kept secret, Black Hippy.
Black Hippy consists of TDE labelmates Ab-Soul, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock and Schoolboy Q. They have only released four songs as a collective but promise more is on the horizon.
Kendrick explains that the four MC’s premeditated this long wait until a proper group album, using that time to establish each individual artist.
