TOP 5 DEAD OR ALIVE: Bun B

On March 31, 2009, UGK’s final album, 4 Life, will be released. Still waving the mighty UGK flag, despite the untimely passing of Pimp C on December 4, 2007, is Bun B.

Anyone weary of Bun’s ability to maintain the precedent set with UGK’s triumphant Underground Kingz (2007) album—never mind the Port Arthur, TX duos legacy—need not fret. “The music from this album was part of a field of

music that we recorded through the process of the UGK double album and beyond,”

says Bun. “We basically were on a roll musically, and we didn’t feel like we

should stop so we kept making music, and it got to the point where—if we don’t

have a place for it now, we’ll just keep it and we’ll figure out where to put

it later.”

Down the line there will be a few UGK affiliated projects.

Bun will drop his Trill OG solo album in

June, via Rap-A-Lot/Asylum, and the late Pimp C, whose widow has control of his

catalog, has a posthumous project in the works too. While the group completed their contractual

commitment to Jive/Sony, the label surely has unreleased UGK material in the

vaults.

Needless to say completing the UGK album at hand wasn’t an easy task.

“It was definitely a labor of love,” says Bun of the album whose guest list includes 8Ball

& MJG, E-40, Big Gipp and Too $hort and production from Mannie Fresh and Cory Mo. “These are all people that anybody would instantly recognize as friends and

family with UGK,” he continues. “They’re good friends of mine, and

good friends of Pimp’s, and it just made sense. I didn’t want it to seem like I was taking advantage of the

situation and go for the biggest names I could get just for the sake of doing

that. I felt this album deserved

better, and the people deserved better.”

To keep the mood light we asked Bun B for his Top 5 MCs Dead

or Alive. The resulting list certifies what you already knew, Bun B knows his

Hip-Hop, and it’s Pimp C and UGK for life.

Pimp C

“Number one I say Pimp C. And it’s not even because he was

in a group with me. People have to realize that he named himself Pimp C at 16,

in high school. When it was not a cool thing for a teenager to call himself a

pimp. This cat was always years before his time. He was always against the

grain and always sticking further [out] than everybody else.

“In retrospect, people look at a lot of s**t he was saying

and understand it, but then it was taken as simple rhetoric or just an attitude

or whatever you want to call it.

But now when people see it, they see it’s really more about passion and

sincerity than anything else and just being brutally honest.

Kool G. Rap

“For me personally, Kool G. Rap

was who I felt I could be because I looked at Big Daddy Kane and I was like I ain’t gon’ never be Kane. It

wasn’t about the lyricism but it was about the personality. I was like I’m

never gon’ be into myself like that so to me it was

G. Rap.  Just the

delivery and the nonchalance of it, the matter-of-factness of it. I look

now and see that the majority of people we tend to call good lyricists or

people that have a great flow, a lot of it comes from a lot of early work G.

Rap was doing.

Rick

Royal

“Rick Royal, from the Royal Flush on Rap-a-Lot Records, to

me was one of the greatest songwriters, not just rapper, but really an

incredible songwriter for himself and other people as well. Rick Royal wrote “Deeper” for Boss, and “Progress of Elimination.”  But he wrote a song called “I Never Made

20” for Royal Flush, if you can find that song and tell me that that’s not one

of the best written rap songs in your life [Ed. Note: We tried in vain to find an MP3 of “I Never Made 20.” Do share if you happen to have a copy.]. I would say I’d give you something,

but people would just say no just to get something.

“But seriously, I’d really like to hear that song and see

what year it was recorded and then tell me it ain’t

one of the best songs ever.  It was

Pimp’s favorite rap song. Period. Hands down, nothing

remotely close.  When we

actually heard the song I was 20, he was 19 and it really hit him, it really

hit him hard. When you hear it you be like, “Wow,” this is a crazy record, and

you couldn’t see that being anybody’s life.  But it’s really a reflection of the paranoia that young

Black men feel.”

Scarface

“Scarface, I think for the fact that watching him excel as a

lyricist basically outlined my direction and the path that I had to take with

some deviation, but I wanted to consider myself a lyricist, I wanted respect

from lyrics and ‘Face was the person closest to me that had accomplished that,

so I just tried to follow and walk that walk that he walked. Face’s first

record was ’86 or ’87, around four years before me.

Young Jeezy

“And the last one I wanna make

sure I hit the nail on the head.

People always say Tupac or Biggie and I think

that’s safe.  You know, it’s real

easy to say that.  But I have to be

honest, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but I think when people look back

in retrospect, I think Jeezy is going to be one of

the great communicators of the Hip-Hop game.

“I honestly believe that.  I believe that Young Jeezy opened

up a more direct line of dialogue with the consumer and rap music that had ever

been accomplished.  You know, it’s

very core.  A lot of people assume

that it’s just very core drug s**t, but then when you look at The Recession album, just the simple

fact that he had named it The Recession

early before the recession came, that really comes from being connected to the

environment to the point where you see the effects of what’s going on

firsthand. And when you speak in terms of recession, which is basically

everybody losing money or losing value, the main people that are going to be

affected first are the people with the least amount of money or value.  And that’s our inner city, urban

people. I don’t mean urban as just people of color because unfortunately, all

poor people aren’t just people of color.

It’s some white people doing bad. And it just goes to show you that

color doesn’t get you ahead in this world.

My President Feat. Nas – Young Jeezy

“But not to get off track, when it’s all said and done, we

all have moments when the music is questionable. I don’t think anybody’s going

to leave this rap game with a clean slate.  You look at KRS One’s first album, Criminal Minded with him holding a pistol, “My Uzi Weighs a Ton”

with Public Enemy. We all have our moments with questionable behavior.  With that being said, when it’s all

looked backed on in retrospect, I think they’re going to really have to give

that kid a lot more credit than they give him now cause I don’t know anybody

that listens to it and doesn’t love it.

“I find it very telling that Jeezy

is the only originator that ended up making more money than his predecessors. Usually

when somebody broke a style, other people got paid off that style way more than

they did, but with his s**t, it was really unique to us believing him.  Because normally when that happens,

it’s based off a gimmick, and then somebody ends up doing your gimmick better

than you.  But because his s**t is

based off reality, the only way you could outdo it is if you had a truer view

and you have to damn near be the junkie or be the actual cocaine to tell it to

give more inside information. You have to be the bounced check in the evicted

apartment, not the people getting evicted, you know?”

THE

SIDEBAR

Bun B actually could have rolled on with UGK

without Pimp C… Yeah, right.

“This may sound crazy to some people but you got to remember

my record deal comes from the early nineties; there was a death clause in the

UGK contract. Basically it said that if one of the members should die, the other

member has the right if they want to, to either bring in someone to replace, or

continue in some other form or fashion as a group. I chose neither. It was

easier to make that decision because this album officially ends the UGK deal.”

Pastor Troy Returns With ‘Feel Me or Kill Me’

Atlanta based rapper Pastor Troy is preparing a new album of material titled Feel Me or Kill Me, the follow up to his 2007 album Tool Muziq.

Troy’s latest album is his third under a deal with San Francisco-based independent label SMC Recordings.

The 12-tracks on Feel Me or Kill Me features production by DJ Squeeky, Trackman, KP and Pastor Troy himself.

“This record is quintessential Troy. It’s hardcore, chaotic and that’s the Pastor Troy I love,” SMC VP of A&R Will Bronson.

“We’re just furthering what we did with Tool Musiq.”

The first single from the album is titled “I Want War.”

Pastor Troy’s Feel Me or Kill Me is due in stores on April 14th.

Knockout Nation: Barrera-Khan, Kirkland Reigns Supreme, Hopkins’ Move Up, Mayweather’s Comeback, Pipino Cuevas

Barrera: “I am not your stepping stone.”

Today

(March 14), Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera (65-6, 43 KOs) is on a

mission to prove that he’s still an elite fighter. The test comes in

the form of young British sensation Amir Khan (19-1, 15 KOs), who’ll

face the cagey veteran in the toughest bout of his young career.

Since losing back to back fights to Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao in 2007, Barrera has won two stay busy fights.

After

hearing Khan trainer Freddie Roach refer to him as being washed up,

Barrera has made it clear to Khan and Roach that he expects to deliver

the same performance he did to Naseem Hamed 8 years ago.

“A

defeat is not in my contract… He wants to use me as a way to a world

title fight, but I have news for him, he is not using me as a stepping

stone,” Barrera told the Manchester Evening News. “Naz was a great

fighter with a hard punch, one of the best I have ever fought. The

Hamed fight was my graduation, the fight that put me on the next step,

and got me ready for everyone that followed.”

Khan is seeking to rebound from an embarrassing 1st

round knockout to Breidis Prescott last September. This fight

represents his first real test since receiving a soft touch in the form

of Oisin Fagan in December, which Khan won by 2nd round TKO.

This

fight is a tricky one to predict. It’s evident that Barrera is past

prime, but he was still formidable enough to drop and badly hurt Juan

Manuel Marquez. Additionally, he went the distance with Pacquiao,

boxing’s current pound for pound #1.

On

the other hand, Khan when disciplined can box well from a distance and

keep himself out of harm’s way. However, the young talent also has the

propensity to mix it up unnecessarily at times, resulting in him

getting rocked and in one case ruthlessly KO’d.

Look

for the crafty and sneaky Barerra to rattle Khan with dirty, bullying

tactics to initiate a brawl. The Baby-Faced Assassin has the power to

hurt Khan, and Khan’s recuperative abilities will decide whether he can

gut out a tough decision win.

This should be a good one, and American fans with $20 to spare should order this budget-sensitive PPV.

Lucian Brute Wins by TKO on ShoBox

On

Friday (March 13), IBF super-middleweight champ Lucian Bute (24-0, 19

KOs) retained his title with a dominating TKO stoppage over Fulgencio

Zuniga (22-4-1, 19 KOs).

Zuniga

was never in the fight, as Bute constantly peppered him with stinging

counter shots. Normally an inside pressure fighter, Zuniga was reduced

to single looping shots from the outside which left him an easy target

for Bute’s handspeed.

In the 4th,

Bute landed a perfect left uppercut to the solar plexus, causing Zuniga

to visibly cry out in pain and crumple to the floor. After barely

beating the count, the tough Colombian took several more hard shots

before the merciful ref stoppage.

Next

up for Bute is a rematch against Librado Andrade, the man he beat in

highly controversial fashion last year due to a gift referee count in

the 12th round.

Hopkins-Adamek  in Negotiations

Main

Events and Golden Boy Promotions have begun preliminary discussions for

a July HBO fight between cruiserweight champ Tomasz Adamek and

light-heavyweight star Bernard Hopkins.

Adamek is coming off a chilling KO of Jonathon Banks in his February 27 IBF title defense.

Last October, Hopkins shocked the boxing world with a dominating, shut-out win over previously undefeated Kelly Pavlik.

At

press time, the fight will be contested at cruiserweight, and offer

Hopkins the chance to pick up a world title in his third weight class.

If

Hopkins wins, his all time pound for pound ranking shoots through the

roof. Adamek represents a credible cruiser with legit knockout power

and skill.

Hopkins

obviously holds an advantage of being quicker then the sometimes

robotic and plodding Adamek. And while some may get images of a

Hopkins-Pavlik replay, it can’t be stressed enough that Hopkins would

be the one moving up this time and coming off 9-month layoff.

This is a risky and intriguing fight for both men. Hopefully it comes off.

Mayweather Comeback Announcement Imminent?

It

seems any time a fighter has a big win between lightweight and

welterweight, Floyd Mayweather’s name is brought up as the next

potential opponent. But now, it may appear that after over a year into

his “retirement” Money Mayweather himself may finally end all the

speculation.

Over

the last several weeks, reports have been coming out of Las Vegas that

Mayweather has been vigorously training in his personal gym and also

sparring.

According

to the Las Vegas Review Journal, Mayweather has abruptly canceled a

fundraiser and gala for the struggling city of Middletown, Ohio. A

spokesman for the former champ revealed that Mayweather’s actions would

be explained after a big announcement is made sometime this week or

next.

Assuming

that Floyd’s announcement isn’t something underwhelming such as a new

signing to Philthy Rich Records, who do you want to see Money

Mayweather face in a return bout?

http://www.sodahead.com/question/280644/?link=p_280644Poll AnswersKirkland Beats Julio Into Submission

Feared

junior middleweight James Kirkland (25-0, 22 KOs) continued his path of

destruction with a gradual beatdown of proven puncher Joel Julio (34-3,

31 KOs) last Saturday (March 7).

Julio was in constant retreat, and struggled when Kirkland took his best shots and never wavered with his pressure.

Tired, cut, and with nothing left, Julio opted to retire on his stool before the 7th round.

Keep

in eye on Kirkland. If he tightens up his defense, we can possibly

witness the next big American star. If not, we may have another Jeff

Lacy on our hands.Throwback Fighter of the Week: Jose “Pipino” Cuevas

While

stars Tommy Hearns and Ray Leonard received the big headlines in the

late 70s and early 80s, hardcore fans also enjoyed the bouts of Mexican

KO specialist Pipino Cuevas.

Cuevas

turned pro at the young age of 14 in 1971. Without a solid amateur

career, he was forced to learn on the job and dropped 5 of his first 12

bouts.

Cuevas began gaining his stride in 1976, when he won the WBA welterweight title by knocking out Clyde Gray in 2 rounds.

He was a fighting champion; defending his title 8 times over

the next 3 years, and winning all but one by knockout.

Cuevas’ title defense victims included tough contenders Harold Weston

and Angel Espada, who both quit after receiving broken jaws.

In

1980, Cuevas sought to further enhance his reputation by disposing of a

gangly, undefeated Detroit fighter named Tommy Hearns.

Using

his amazing reach, speed, and power, Hearns drilled Cuevas with two

lethal right hands that dropped the rugged champion flat on his face

for a 2nd round KO.

Afterward, Cuevas was never the same and delivered inconsistent performances for the remained of his career.

His last high-profile bout came in 1983, when he suffered another brutal knockout at the hands of a Roberto Duran on the comeback trail  .

After going 6-6 over his final 12 bouts, Pipino Cuevas retired in 1989.

In retirement, he went into business for himself and currently owns a restaurant and a security company in Mexico City.

In

2002, Cuevas was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

The following year, RING Magazine listed him 31 on their list of the

100 greatest punchers of all time.

Jose “Pipino” Cuevas’ final record stands at 35-15-0, 31 KOs.

ALBUM REVIEW: Xrabit + DMG$: Hello World

Forget everything you heard at last weekend’s house party because Xrabit + DMG$’s debut album, Hello World (Big Dada Records), just made things a lot more interesting. DMG$, The Texas MC duo of Trak Bully and Coool Dundee, link up with UK producer Xrabit on Hello World for some heavy experimenting, and the results are often catchy, and an overall enjoyable experience.

From the start, Trak Bully and Coool Dundee pop things off with “Damaged Goods” inviting everyone to lean with them. Over Xrabit’s pounding beat, Trak reminds everyone, “I’m so dope call me Amy Winehouse’s p### test.” Don’t worry, these MCs know exactly how cool they are and without fail and “Ferris Bueller” is their show off statement. “That’s why your baby loves me / More for my grind than what’s on my feet / But those on my feet are so unique; I am the total package.”

Lyrically, DMG$’s flow is a combination of their own personal brand of snark with a sense of humor similar to an early Fresh Prince. Combined with Xrabit’s avant garde production, the complete sound is a throwback to old-school fun.

“Are We Friends” will have you thinking you just walked into 80’s night while Coool Dundee’ deep Southern vocals creates a trance. “One kiss from Mary Jane surely puts me in another lane / Far away from all you lames / Ecstasy kills these diamond rings / So I’m touching orgasms and I’m tasting love / My whole damn body feels like a latex glove.” Trak quickly snaps out of it on “Trak’s Promise” as he keeps his words and brings his chill manner to the dance floor.

Hello World from beginning to end is an introduction into a world of absolute coolness. Whether or not any of us are worthy of their presence, Xrabit + DMG$ extend the invite to all who want to have some fun.

Hip-Hop Rumors: 50/Ross Update! Guyana Sue T-Pain! The Dream & Christiana Milian Engaged?

DISCLAIMER:

All

content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual

info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.

TODAY’S RUMORS!THE DAILY TWO CENTS

On my twitter, somebody asked me, “I know you saw the video from 50…honestly, what did you think.” (Shout out to pworld12!) The truth is, initially, I thought it was hilarious. 50 Cent’s expert commentary was too funny. I was in tears. After the laughing subsided, I thought about it. I thought about the Rick Ross side and I’m wondering what Rick is going to do now. What can he do now? I hope that 50 Cent doesn’t cause Rick Ross to snap and kill somebody. You can only push a man so far! I have to say its unfortunate that thousands and thousands of CHILDREN were probably exposed to this as well. Don’t forget Rick Ross’ kid[s] either. You know and I know it was filtered through every hood and computer and the trickle down affect is going to be bananas. OH WELL.

THE DREAM AND CHRISTINA MILAN ENGAGED?

I got this from Egypt of egyptsaidso.com and I don’t know what to say. Just read the following:

This just in!!! I received word from a source who is typically very reliable that R&B singer/writer The Dream, allegedly proposed to Pop singer Christina Milian and she said YES!!!! At some point yesterday The Dream allegedly took Christina to the rooftop of his condo in LA where he popped the question with a diamond ring thats estimated at nearly $200,000. The ring is said to be designed by he daughter of a very well known wealthy American billionaire.

I am also told they had an intimate dinner celebration later that evening with with close friends and family and Christina was glowing like a schoolgirl. I hear Dream said it was love at first sight and insiders say ‘he is sooo open on Christina’.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE COUPLE!!!

AND BIG UPS TO DREAM FOR PUTTING A RING ON IT!!!!

HMMMM….MAYBE ITS TRUE THAT LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT REALLY EXISTS. PERHAPS THEY’LL HAVE A QUICKY WEDDING LIKE HER EX NICK CANNON AND MARIAH CAREY.

RANDOM QUOTE: THE RICK ROSS EDITION:

This is what Rick Ross has to say about his beef with 50 Cent.

“The monkey is doing me the biggest favor in the world, because I could take advantage of his fans and he can’t do the same with mine being that he can’t go where I go. We ain’t never done with the situation ’til the monkey bow down. We ain’t got nothin’ to worry about, we in a wonderful position and I wish it was something that would spill out into the streets. My freestyles as you could hear them, ‘Kiss My Pinky Ring,’ I do them in 20 minutes and put them out there. Those crumble empires. People listening to how potent the music is. That’s all this really is for me. I’m not really excited yet. All this is a platorm for me to show people how talented I am. How much better of a lyricist I am.”

Do you agree? That Ross is more talented than 50 Cent?

T-PAIN GETS SUED!T-Pain. He’s a smart guy. Somebody threatened his life in Guyana and he bailed! But, it doesn’t stop there. From what I understand the local promoters ‘Hit & Jams’ are looking to move forward with a lawsuit against the autotuned singer for missing the show. They have retained the services of a powerful US lawyer. These dudes are looking for $10 million in damages for the missed date. I guess they have a contract and they say T-Pain breached it.

[Illseed edit: I mistakenly called Guyana “African,” but my brain was in Ghana! Sorry to all! I’m a fool!]

I don’t know, but…safety first!

THE GAME LOSES HIS VOICE?

My boy Jamal it me up about a Game show last night in San Angelo, TX. Apparently, the Compton rapper’s voice went out so he couldn’t continue. Guess what the rapper ended up doing for the fans? He stuck around to take a gang of pictures and met with anybody that wanted to meet with him. He reportedly had his people in his ear saying, “It’s time to go,” but Game said, “I aint leaving till it’s done.”

Jamal told me he’s an even bigger fan now than ever before. That’s what’s up!

JOE BUDDEN DOD NOT…CALL OFF HIS SHOW

ALERT! ALERT! Joe Budden did NOT call off this show. There was another reason that he didn’t do the show. It shall be revealed! Stay tuned!

You know what? Hip-Hop can be very dumb. Very, very dumb. Now, I’m not calling anybody dumb, but I am saying that we fight and bicker over some of the dumbest stuff. Everybody does it at some point or another. Here is the latest. After being “banned” from Boston, Joe Budden finally decided he had to cancel a show in Mass, because of looming revenge from people that feel they were disrespected at the last show.

Here is the message fans received:

Citing “numerous warnings from the City of Cambridge Licensing department” The City of Cape Cod

CANCELLED the Joe Budden show on Saturday

Thanks to Jamn 94.5, Edo G and DJ On & On for starting an internet beef that carried on to ruin the Saturday evening of 600+ Expected Concert Goers..

We will be rescheduling the show very soon!!

Thanks Again to all who planned to attend!

JIM JONES GETS INTO A…TIFF

I’m not sure when the happened, but Jim Jones and his security titans got into it at some time. I don’t know when this happened.

LIL KIM COMMENTS ON CHRIS AND RIHANNA

ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

Shout out to 90 Gramz, Bristol UK’s finest.

You can say what you want about Michael Jackson’s face. Face this: dude sold 750,000 tickets in 4 hours. $100 per ticket. Who can do that these days?

Rihanna may be wriggling her way out of testifying. Looks like her name and the picture have tainted her from a public point of view. Sounds like BS to me. She’s just not trying to anger Breezy or something.

Venus and Serena’s daddy done went and got a young philly. Father Richard Williams is now engaged to Lakeisha Graham, a woman 37 years younger than he is. He’s 67 and she is 30.

Lupe Fiasco did a show at Tulane University and he proclaimed that CRS (with Pharrell and Kanye) was “coming soon.” He’s also stopped cutting his hair until its time for an album. He said, “I need a fade, but y’all need records. I’ll stay nappy to make yall happy.”

Where is Cory Gunz?

Mike Tyson has a new documentary coming up. Click here to check out the trailer. Looks good.

SOLANGE JUST GAVE LETOYA SOME NICE PUB!

LeToya Luckett has a new song called “Not Anymore” and Solange is apparently crying foul. Solange says, “Now every which a way i turn. .everyone is in a 60’s girl group reference. its like traditional r&b again to do the 60’s sound, look ect.”

There are so many examples, but Lauryn hooked this up over 10 years ago.

But what do I know?

EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY!

Oh, this is a doozie.

A 19-year-old dude was in his house choking his chicken (aka masturbating) in Dade City, Florida. Well, while the dude did it, he must have forgotten that he still lives in his Momma house. Somehow or another, his Mom caught him jacking his lil’ jerk in her backyard and she yelled for him to stop! Well, the dude did not like that at all. Police say he walked around to the front of the house and PUNCHED HIS MOTHER IN THE FACE! He was charged with domestic violence and is still in jail at the moment. The man’s name is Antwan L. Grandberry and he is now an unfortunate legend. SMH!

EPIC WIN OF THE DAY!

Check out this 8 year old wiz kid DJ!

ILL PICS

Mya looking good.

Rapper 50 Cent Drops P### Featuring Rick Ross’ Baby’s Mom

Fresh off teasing fans with a trailer for an upcoming p### video featuring the mother or Rick Ross’ daughter, 50 Cent has officially released the X-rated clip for the public to view.

Throughout the close to 13 and a half minute video, which debuted last night (March 13) on boobootv.com, the G-Unit frontman portrays his alter ego, Pimpin’ Curly as he provides commentary on sex acts engaged by the woman, who is identified as Brooke.

According to the video’s description, the encounter takes place with an unidentified man while Ross is on tour.

To build anticipation for the video, 50 aired a 30 second trailer counting down to the video’s premiere on Friday.

“Now look man. I’m gonna show you some s*** man. ..Yo, check this s### out man. I’ma show you my b**** man. Here go your baby mama Ricky. Oh man, you ain’t gonna believe this s*** man,” said Curly, who takes pleasure in seeing Brooke be unfaithful to his rival as she flashed a tattoo of Ross’ initials that appears on her chest. “Double R? Does that stand for Rick Ross in the middle of her muthaf***in chest man. Oh this is cold blooded man,” he added. “I told n##### I was the beast from the east man. They thought I was b***s*****n. I ain’t b***s*****n no mo man. 1 minute and 30 seconds n####. You see the tape. It only been on for 1 minute and 30 seconds.

“I want you to watch this on your tour bus Ricky. I want you to watch this on your m*****f****n tour bus Ricky,” continued Curly. “…Now how the f**k you gonna say you a boss and you run a m****f****n crew and can’t even control your b*****s. Is this n#### lickin on the Rick Ross tattoo? The n***a lickin on the Ricky tattoo. Oooh s###. Oooh man. Somebody need to make an announcement.” The new video is the latest in the ongoing dispute between Ross and 50 Cent. Ross has dismissed 50’s insults and the Miami rapper is enjoying the success of his “Magnificent.”

The tune, which features R&B crooner John Legend, is the lead single on Ross’ forthcoming album Deeper Than Rap.

50 is also riding his own wave of success via “I Get It In,” the first single off his upcoming album Before I Self Destruct.

Despite their individual achievements, both men are determined to get the better of each other with their current beef.

“You stuck with this b***h n####. You stuck with this b#### for the rest of your life man,” continued Curly, who didn’t mince words regarding Brooke. “Now every time you look at your little girl, her little pretty face man… There go her mama.”

In addition to the p### video, Pimpin Curly also shows up in a new cartoon , titled In Too Deep.

The recently released clip, which continues to deride Ross for his past employment as a corrections officer, features Lil Wayne as well as Mase, DMX, Suge Knight, Bobby Brown, Remy Ma, Coolio and T.I.

Rick Ross’ Deeper Than Rap is slated to arrive in stores on April 21, while 50 Cent’s Before I Self Destruct will be released sometime this year.

Ode To St. Ides: A Hip-Hop Retrospective

There was a time when rappers weren’t respected enough to get the other kind of deal.

Before rappers were getting profitable endorsements from fast food companies and cell phone carriers, there was only one main path to corporate co-signage – MALT LIQUOR.

We know all about the 40-ounce bottles that ravaged the hood in the 80’s and 90’s.There were a number of companies that had an affinity to the ‘hood like Old English, a brand that gets name-dropped by rappers like The Game.

No other brand exploited Hip-Hop’s love of getting stupid drunk the way St. Ides did back in the day. But, the relationship with the liquor company wasn’t wholly negative. The rappers that worked with St. Ides produced a lot of good music. Hey, we’re talking Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Redman, King Tee and more.

These days Hip-Hop is embraced by pricy, upscale spirits, but lets not forget that brown liquid in the big bottle.

Check out some of the exclusive songs from St. Ides and Hip-Hop.

Rap Star MC Hammer Sued Over Book

Oakland, California rapper MC Hammer has been hit with a lawsuit over an inspirational book that a publishing company claims was never finished.

Simon & Schuster filed the lawsuit on March 5, seeking the return of a $61,000 advance doled out to Hammer for the book Enemies of the Father: Messages from the Heart on Being a Family Man.

Reports stated that Hammer, 46, signed a contract to write the book under his real name in 2002.

The book, which was supposed to be released in 2003, was never delivered according to the one-page lawsuit.

The news comes during a resurgence of sorts for the 46-year-old rapper, who was recently featured in a Cash4Gold Super Bowl commercial alongside Ed McMahon.

Hammer will also be the star of a new A&E reality series titled Hammertime, which will focus on his career and family life.
