(AllHipHop News) Jay-Z has backed out of a deal with the Aqueduct Entertainment Group to invest in the Aqueduct racino it was revealed yesterday (March 9).
According to Crains, Jay-Z had an estimated 2% interest in AEG through an entity he has ownership in named Gain Global Investments Network.
The racino project has generated a great deal of controversy because the losing bidders claim New York Gov. David Paterson awarded AEG the group due to his personal relationship with the investors.
In addition to Jay-Z, investor Rev. Floyd Flake also backed out of the deal yesterday due to the mounting controversy and the federal investigation into the deal, which started last week.
“”Unfortunately, my ongoing participation in Aqueduct Entertainment has become a distraction that has taken me and my attention away from the community projects I created and nurtured,” said Rev. Flake in a press statement. Last week and subpoenas were issued to Jay-Z and Russell Simmons in regards to the deal.
Simmons, who served as an advisor to Penn National Gaming, one of the five losing bidders for the contract.
Simmons voiced his displeasure with Gov. Patersons decision award AEG the contract, which will allow the company to upgrade the existing Aqueduct Race Track venue with 4,500 video slot machines.
Critics claim AEGs bid was $100 million less than the other bids, which were as high as $300 million, with other incentives layered into the deal.Im not knocking Rev Flake or anyone else associated with any other project. But theirs just wasnt the best deal for New York, Simmons wrote in February on his GlobalGrind.com website. Speaker Silver, Senator Abrams and Governor Patterson, can any of my dear friends in NY government tell me where and when did it all go wrong? At time of great financial stress for the State, when programs for the poor are being cut, I backed what I thought was the best deal for the region, the city and the community. Why didnt the leadership just take the best deal for the people of New York State? I did.

THE BROOKLYN ZOO AKA THE BIGGIE PARTY
I know I am not on Twitter much, but I am there browsing more than anything. And, booooyeeeeeeee .did I see the tweets about what was going on with this Biggie party Diddy threw. Now, first of all, I heard people paid like $100 to get in that thing whoa! Even said the following:
# As soon as I get there I will tell them to stop trying to overcharge people. Sorry to all who were inconvenienced. I will fix
# I just heard the club is trying to charge 100 dollars. I am 3 blocks away!!! I am not promoting the party. I’m not making money from this
Anyway, then there were several fights. Here is one of them:
Click here for the rest of the pics.
Overall, though it seemed like it was a great celebration. Fabolous rocked it, as did Busta, Diddy and Red Café. It seemed like a great shocker that Rick Ross was there, but we all know Diddy feels he is the new Biggie. Shout out to the people that attended. I heard it was fun. I heard one person in particular was being a complete A##H0LE to everybody around him. Can’t say the name, but from what I understand, if you were THERE, you know who this person is.
ANOTHER BIGGIE RUMOR
There is a Tupac diss record. Remember how Biggie never really TRULY all out responded to Tupac? You know, there were lil slick remarks, but nothing like Pacs Hit Em Up? Well, I am hear to tell you that my sources have indicated to me, there IS a definite scathing diss BACK to Pac. I mean, a full, all out return fire song and nothing that was on any album. I am speculating, but pretty sure they didnt want the issue to escalate further by a reply. But its out there. I wonder how long will it take until that song comes out of a vault somewhere.
BIG POPPA, WE LOVE YOU!!!
They keep us talking, but if we stop talking about them then they should worry!

DMX was arrested yesterday (March 9) in Arizona for violating the terms of his parole after being found in possession of cocaine
X, real name Earl Simmons, is being detained in a local county jail following his apprehension by the states Adult Probation department.
The troubled star in less than a year removed from a 90 plus day stint in an Arizona jail for fraud, drug, and animal cruelty charges. While in custody, he was given an additional 18 months of probation for verbally threatening a corrections officer.
DMXs lawyer Gary Jenkins acknowledged that the rapper is still suffering from well-documented drug addiction issues, but hoped he could stage a celebrity intervention.
Hes been battling addiction for some time and hes in need of treatment, Jenkins stated to TMZ. Were hoping that maybe Dr. Drew might be able to help him. Hes a talented man were praying for him.
A clearly agitated DMX appeared in a Phoenix court yesterday, where he accused the police of maliciously targeting him and abusing his civil rights.
“Look at the fair treatment going on. I’m the only one in here, I’m the only one who got arrested today,” he stated before launching into a brief obscenity-laced tirade. “Every time they do it to me! My rights are being violated but I got to be quiet about it.”
Sheriff Joe Arpaio, a staunch critic of the rapper, explained that DMX should serve serious jail time for what he deems as continued, brazen disregard for the law.
“I’m surprised he came back. he doesn’t like the sheriff, he doesn’t like my office. I’m sure he doesn’t like all the times he’s been arrested,” Arpaio detailed to a local Fox News affiliate. He’s also been a problem. he doesn’t show up for court. I had to send my deputies to Florida twice to bring him back. We’ve been treating him with kid gloves. I think its about time to give him hard time.”
Last week, DMXs attempt to throw a gospel concert for Independence High School in Glendale, AZ was stopped by school officials amidst fears of violence.
At press time, DMX faces 5 unspecified counts of parole violation.

We have all found ourselves lost in a memory or the near distant future when we listen to Corinne Bailey Rae. She gives us a necessary breath of fresh air with her cool, sweet, rock-British-R&B-soul sound.
After a two year break and dealing with the sudden death of her husband. She has come back giving us the long awaited follow-up album to her self-titled debut. The Sea debuted January 26, in the states and was welcomed to enthusiastic ears and rave reviews.
AllHipHop.com: How would you describe your music?
Corinne Bailey Rae: I think its really up to the people to decide what they think the music is, what they think the music is about. I just feel that is my personal expression, I am trying to convey what I am thinking, what I am feeling. I say my music has emotionmy music has emotion. But, I really dont know how to classify it.
AllHipHop.com: Would you consider yourself part of the continuing British invasion hitting the U.S.?
Corinne Bailey Rae: I dont really know, I think there has been a lot of British passage, come over here in recent years. I mean I feel lucky to be apart of that. I mean its great to be here in America in the first place in contemporary music. I dont feel apart of that scene. I think a lot of those people are from London. London is a real different place than where I livenorth of England (Leeds). I feel apart of my own thing, independent of what is happening in London, sort of independent from the mainstream. I think of myself as British, all of those things are London.AllHipHop.com: The Sea is raw and seriously thought provoking album, how long did the album take?
Corinne Bailey Rae: I believe the album came about quickly. Obviously, I had a big break in the middle of it. I started writing the album in summer of 2007. I recorded three or four songs from November 2007 and the March 2008. And, then I started working on it a year later towards the end of 2008. It sort of didnt take that long to write and record, because I hadnt written in a long time. I felt like I had a lot of songs that couldnt wait to come out. The way we recorded and produced it, it wasnt time consuming, it kind of happened when people were available. People were hanging out in the studio–at Limefield studios. Except for having the break in the middle, I felt like the album came about quite quickly.
AllHipHop.com: The second go round; you stayed true to your roots and remained humble. Was it hard telling record companies no and remain who you are?
Corinne Bailey Rae: It wasnt hard, but it was difficult, it was hard to negotiate, I guess. I didnt want to across like I didnt need the help at the same time I had a clear idea how I wanted it to sound. I started working with this producer, a really great friend and musician and I felt this is the way to do it. To be really free and not self-conscious and not having strangers around during the process. My experience gave me confidence to do it all on my own and the record label were supportive of it; they kind of left me to it–which was great! I really felt that with the record it was on me, whether it was going to do well or not do well.
AllHipHop.com: What inspired your album name The Sea?
Corinne Bailey Rae: I didnt really think of the album title until I finished the album. I was thinking of what ties everything together. I felt like there was a lot of movement in the song, sometimes the songs were really full and layered. Sometimes I would retreat, when it was just me and the guitar. Sometimes the choruses are fast and the verses are slow, it has a lot of rhythm. The Sea was a really good metaphor describing the sound of the record and the layers. I felt like that was a great title for it and then there was quite a lot of warfare appearing in the songs.
AllHipHop.com: When you come the states do you feel at home?
Corinne Bailey Rae: I do actually and its really weird. I like it here! I didnt know what I would think of it. I deliberately didnt try to make music that I thought was American music. When that happened I was really surprised that the album did well, because at that particular time a lot of the music was mostly R&B. It was polished, perfect and virtuosic and improvising and runs. I just thought there is no way they will be in to what I am doing. I felt confident and it was more of me and not trying to be like a Beyonce, you have got these amazing singers. So, I was really surprised it did well here. No, I absolutely love it. I love New York, its an amazing cityits so vibrant and I think people arrive with certain expectations. It is an amazing place to be. It is amazing with so much going on, its good fun! I really like touring here and the people are friendly. I like that it is English speaking. I love playing here and its definitely a second home to me.
AllHipHop.com: Before you became the songstress you are, what dreams and ambitions did you have outside of music?
Corinne Bailey Rae: Uumm I think it would be music. I was 15 when I first played in a band and I played in a pub, and have people come up to you didnt know and tell you I really like your song–to me it was amazing! Make-up stuff in your bedroom and that just came out of your head, and being in front of eighty or ninety people. When I was 15 or 16 I knew this was what I wanted to know. Everybody I knew was in a band the aspiration was my friends. As, I got older obviously they have dropped out the band doing other things and getting other jobs. But, I still felt like music was what I really wanted to do. Music is really what I want to do, singing and really expressing myself and working with musicians. I just thought this was fun and I really like to do this and I thought of it as my life and writing songs for a living.
AllHipHop.com: Whats next for you?
Corinne Bailey Rae: I really enjoyed producing this album. It was my first experience in production. I learned a lot from hassling people from my first album; and asking questions, looking over the shoulder, getting a bit involved. I know how I want the album want to sound, which bass player, which drummer I want to use and how I want to build it up in layers. This great singer-songwriter John MacCallum, I really want to produce his album. I think that would be different. I really want to write music for a small independent film. I really would like to record a jazz record when I get a bit older and more experience, Ill just enjoy it. I feel like there a lot of possibilities. I enjoy being around a lot of creative people.
AllHipHop.com: What is your favorite thing/attraction to visit when in youre in the states?Corinne Bailey Rae: I guess I do, I really do like New York. I guess going into shop and record shops. It is such a huge place. I just feel, it is just exciting it is such a big place you can be anonymous and eccentricand I like that. I feel like other places you have to bring yourself in because people might think you are trying to draw attention to yourself but, you are not, you are just trying to express yourself. I like that about New York.
AllHipHop.com: I see that youre touring when do it start and end?Corinne Bailey Rae: The tour starts, I think on the seventh of April in Canada. And then it comes to a lot of major American cities and St. Lucia at the Jazz Festival. I will be over here for about seven weeks.
AllHipHop.com: Is there anything else you want to add to the interview?
Corinne Bailey Rae: Uummm I am trying to think of it. I think we covered most of it in the interview and how this album was different. I really wanted this record to be about self-expression. I wanted not to think about what others expect and what I am trying to say and the album came about in a very natural way. I think its important to do that, follow your heart and follow your instincts, instead of being someone who is a careerist and build on success. I really wanted to walk into the project with freedom and I have been able to do that.
(AllHipHop News) DMXs wife Tashera Simmons will reveal the intimate details of her life with the rap star in a new tell all book.
Representatives for Tashera Simmons have confirmed with AllHipHop.com that a tell all book titled Strength of Woman is in the process of revealing a not so glamorous life in the autobiographical work.
As Mrs. DMX, Tashera was prominently featured in DMXs reality show DMX: Soul Of A Man, which chronicled his turbulent life in 2006. DMX has been arrested every year since 1999, on multiple charges, ranging from impersonating a police officer to animal abuse.
Additionally, the rapper, who has been married to Tashera since 1999, has been hit with several paternity suits over the years.
In 2004, a woman from Buffalo New York and another from Baltimore, Maryland accused him of fathering their children.
In January of 2008, DMX was ordered to pay $1.5 million dollars to the Baltimore woman, after he accused her of raping him in an interview with Sister2Sister magazine, in response to the womans paternity claims.
DMX was also the first artist in history to have five consecutive #1 debut albums on the Billboard Top 200 Charts.
It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot (1998), Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood (1998), And Then There Was X (1999), The Great Depression (2002) and Grand Champ (2003) each topped the charts when they were released.
Hes also a prolific actor with major roles in movies like Belly, Romeo Must Die and Exit Wounds.
She will be talking about her experience with her family and trying to hold them together through the DMX journey, a representative for Tashera told AllHipHop.com. Her story is a stellar, heart wrecking, powerful, firsthand account of survival and family strength in a chaotic life and the fame that came with that life.
