Sneak(er) Peek: Kanye’s 5411’s & Many, Many Jordans

Yo, stop sippin’

the Kool-Aid, please. Quick history lesson #1, for those that don’t know: Jim

Jones—the kooky cult leader, not the Dipset

Capo and alleged Ne-Yo snuffer—had a compound

in Jonestown, Guyana, where on Nov. 18, 1978 he and over 900 of his followers performed a mass suicide by ingesting poison flavored with Flavor-Aid. Hence the aforementioned, though slightly altered, term used to describe rapt followers,

“drinking the Kool-Aid.”

The point of this clipped history is too many of you are

gushing over the Kanye West designed Louis Vuitton kicks. LV teams with the rapper turned pop

artiste to drop some couture footwear. Joy. They drop in June and will likely cost a couple of paychecks to us common folk.

However, said kicks (above) look like a pair of glorified 5411

Reeboks. Quick history lesson #2: The Reebok freestyles (pic

below)—go-to pair of sneaker attire for hip ladies in the hood in the

90’s—were dubbed 5411’s due to their $49.99 tag, which when adding NYC’s

then .0825% sales tax, meant $54.11 would get you a pair.

A message from kwest on Vimeo.

Not that he cares what I think, nor should he, but ‘Ye was better off when co-signing his Air Yeezy’s (1st pic above). Just my opinion folks. And as far as his call me MLK Jr. rambling in the video above, what do YOU think? I will say a grown man rocking a ‘Frullet in ’09 cannot be ignored in this equation. West designed five shoes in all and in the pic to the left, jacked from his blog, is another design.

Speaking of Nike, the last month or so must have been straight

orgasmic for Air Jordan fiends, with a number of Jordan Brand affiliated kicks

dropping. Including…

The Air Jordan 2009. What, you

really thought they were going to stop making new pairs at #23? The shoe features

Advanced Propulsion Technology (APT), carbon fiber tech and a whole bunch of

other things you might not care about since they looks so good. They launch nationwide Valentine’s Day and will run you back $190 bones.

More colors on the Jordan 6 Rings.  They go for $160 beans. You won’t find these unless you literally run with Joe Johnson and Mike Bibby of the Atlanta Hawks, or if you catch them at a House of Hoops. These player exclusive of versions of the Air Jordan Pure Pressure are an ode to Obama’s inauguration. Props to OSneaker.com

AJF 6’s. Don’t usually feel these, pause, but ain’t mad at the colorway.

Lil Kim Denies She Wanted Christina Milian Portrayal In ‘Notorious’

A Representative for Lil Kim has dismissed recent reports that claim the rapper wanted a Latina actress to play her in the movie Notorious.

Reports stated that Lil Kim was unhappy with Naturi Naughton’s portrayal of her in the movie Notorious and that she really wanted Christina Milian to play the role.

While her dismay has been well documented, an attorney for Lil Kim dismissed rumors that she wanted Milian to play her in Notorious, which grossed over $21 million dollars when it opened last weekend.

According to her attorney, the rumor was sparked by a posting on Facebook, by a fan allegedly purporting to be Lil Kim.

“The statement posted up on Facebook was done by someone falsely portraying themselves to be Lil Kim and is completely untrue,” Lil Kim’s attorney Bernard H. Jackson III told AllHipHop.com. “They have been contacted to remove immediately or legal action will be taken.”

Lil Kim is currently in the recording studio working on a new album, which she has said will introduce the world to a “whole new style.”

Flavor Flav Signs With BET for New Anthology Series

Former Public Enemy hypeman turned reality TV star Flavor Flav, and director Deon Taylor have confirmed an agreement to continue their BET movie Nite Tales as an anthology TV series.

The original movie aired on BET this past Halloween and is currently set for a DVD release on February 3.

Speaking with the Hollywood Reporter, director Den Taylor describes the new show as a cross between Tales From the Crypt and The Twilight Zone.

Flavor Flav, whose movie role was similar to the “Cyrptkeeper” narrator of the former series, will reprise his character for the television show.

Since younger audiences are likely not familiar with these older programs, Taylor states that the new series will specifically target those demographics.

If the show does well, a new Nite Tales movie will premier every year, similar to the popular Saw movie series.

The first film, Terminated, written by Thomas H. Fenton (Saw IV), is expected to be released this year in theaters.

Nite Tales the cable series will debut today (January 26) at the National Association of Television Program Executives’ 2009 Market and Conference in Las Vegas.

At press time, BET’s Nite Tales is tentatively scheduled to premier this year as a weekly series.

Charli Baltimore: The B.I.G Picture, Pt. 1

Those who have seen the Notorious

biopic will question the absence of one key figure in the life of the

Notorious B.I.G. shortly before he died: Miss Charli Baltimore. Tiffany Lane

aka Charli Baltimore broke out on the scene following the death Christopher

Wallace. Her breed of raw rap—comparable to Lil’ Kim in her explicit

style, though not quite as suggestive—brought Charli

to the spotlight without a constant cosign as a former love of Biggie. The

Philly native’s place in the Commission was sealed, but sadly that project

never came to fruition. Here, Miss Baltimore discusses in depth some aspects of

Notorious that hid the truth and how

she feels the world is handling Biggie’s posthumous presence.

AllHipHop.com: First

off, have you seen Notorious?

Charli Baltimore:

No, and I don’t really want to see it either. I feel as though it’s

not—it wasn’t portrayed realistically.

AllHipHop.com: People

have been questioning why you were left out of the film.

Charli Baltimore:

From what I’m understanding, the one particular scene which I guess bothered me

more than anything was that me and B.I.G. were in a really, really, traumatic

car accident. I almost died in that car accident and for them to downplay

it—and again I didn’t see the movie so I don’t know how much it’s

downplayed or not—but for them to downplay it the way that it was, the

way that it occurred…it bothered me. That’s what probably bothers me more so

than anything. I don’t usually do too many interviews regarding Big.

Stand Up (Featuring Ghostface Killah) – Charli Baltimore

AllHipHop.com:

The scene is where they show the car accident, there is a girl in the backseat

who I assume is you and then the accident just kind of happens…

Charli Baltimore:

I went through the windshield. I was in the backseat, that’s true. Cease lost

all of his teeth… every last one of his teeth got knocked out. He was the

driver. From what I understand it’s portrayed in the movie like it was really

lightweight, and it had a lot of bearing on Big’s album. And again, everybody

in that car almost lost their life. So I don’t play that, it’s not cool at all.

Big had to have the Jaws of Life remove him, and that was a

really pivotal moment in his career because that’s what caused him to do the

double album for Life After Death.

So, you know, the movie is his mother’s story, which is how I’m getting it, but

again she wasn’t there and I had 22 stitches under my hairline that…I was the

first person that was taken out of the scene of the accident because any sort

of head injuries they take you first.

That was a really serious accident. It wasn’t a fender

bender. It was an accident where we went over the divider and were on to the

other side of the oncoming traffic going the opposite direction and almost went

over an embankment. So for them to downplay that particular event was a little

shocking to me the way that I got it. Like I said, I didn’t see it so I don’t

know but I know that I still got plenty of stitches and plenty of sometimes

ailments to prove that the accident was no joke. Big had a metal rod that had

to be inserted into his leg and it had a lot to do with him having a life

changing experience that in all actuality Big was not supposed to walk again.

Because of his weight, he had sleep apnea, he was told that he would probably

always have a wheelchair or possibly even a walker and he kind of defied all

odds. We sat in the hospital and he had to go through therapy and he had to

basically learn how to walk again.

[Big] was in a rehabilitation facility for three months

because he had to learn how to walk, and he was determined to do that. Not to

mention he still had a deadline to do this album. You gotta remember when this

happened that Big’s album was almost done. When we got in the hospital and all

this craziness happened, he said, “You know what ma, I’m going to do a double

album.” I’m like, “Get the hell out of here.” People weren’t really doing that

kind of stuff back then. So he really sat and he like…he did it. It was very

inspiring to watch someone do that under the circumstances that he was under,

which was craziness. People telling him that you might never walk again

properly, you may be in a wheelchair, he wasn’t trying to hear any of that

sh*t. He was like, “Hey, I’ma walk again. I’ma be fine.”

AllHipHop.com:

Are you angry about your absence in the movie?

Charli Baltimore:

Well you know, if anybody has a right to be mad about

the movie it should be maybe Un or D-Roc. I think that a lot of people who are

portraying themselves in this movie have no idea what type of person that Big

was and one of the funniest things I could recall is that…I was thinking about

something Big used to do everyday at a certain time. I can’t remember the exact

time, but I remember everyday at a certain time Big would have at least a

45-minute to an hour conversation with Lance “Un” Rivera, his business partner.

And from what I understand, he’s barely in the movie. That was one of Big’s

closest confidants. I feel as though if anyone should be mad really…I’ll even

go so far as to say let’s skip Un, I would say D-Roc. I know how much Big loved

D-Roc, and I know that that was unconditional love. That was real just

brotherly just, straight out I’ll do anything for this dude, and vice versa.

AllHipHop.com:

D-Roc isn’t portrayed much in the movie either following his prison term.

Charli Baltimore:

I don’t understand any of that. I really don’t. I mean, D-Roc lived with Big.

Big loved D-Roc, that was his brother you might as well say….brother from

another mother. So if anybody should be telling Big’s story…I’m not mad about

the movie…but if anybody should be telling Big’s story, it should either be

D-Roc or Un because these are the people that Big confided in the most. Not

Puff, not these other people or whoever claimed to be a part of this film. I

remember these everyday phone calls [between Big and Un]. It didn’t matter what

the situation was, what country we were in, Lance and Big had this conversation

every day.

Like I said I’m not bitter about the film because for me, I

always felt like my relationship really was nobody’s business. I know what I

had with Big; I didn’t really need to explain it to anyone. But I also…you know

Big confided in me as a boyfriend would confide in a girlfriend. So I know a

lot of things about Big that I would never discuss with anyone.

AllHipHop.com:

What about you in this equation? You were with Big when he passed; you were a

very important part of his life.

Charli Baltimore:

I had just left L.A. when he died. I had left I think two days prior. I had

some personal things I had to take care of, and I had actually just lost one of

my best friends on Valentine’s Day; they had just gotten killed. That was one

of the main reasons Big wanted me to come to L.A., just so I could take my mind

off that. Actually me and Big had a lot of drama in L.A. What was funny was the

homicide police came to my house after Big died, which was kind of weird to me

but they were just going in all angles. But yeah I was with Big two days before

he died and the funny thing was, he was loving Cali, and he was so happy that

he kind of defied all the odds and was able to walk.

If you notice in the “Hypnotize” video he just has the

cane…he defied all of the things with the walker, with the wheelchair…he was in

the hospital for three months undergoing intensive therapy. So that particular

moment in time was what lead to Life

After Death. That’s why that album was called that. Big was just determined

to make it the best that he could make it. I don’t think that people realize

that. I think that if they were going to make a movie about Big’s life, it

should have concentrated more on his music. His personal life was really

honestly nobody’s business, and if he was alive I don’t think he would have

wanted that.

I mean if someone was going to make a movie about Big’s

personal life then it should have been Faith, not Ms. Wallace. I mean come on;

we’re all adults. As an adult, your mother doesn’t know every waking detail of

your personal life. That’s just not realistic. Not to say anything bad about

[Ms. Wallace], but you know I had a relationship with her as well and I have no

idea what she was thinking when she made that movie and kind of just left out

that whole portion of Big’s life that I was there. I was very young when I was

dealing with Big so that was a huge life experience for me, as far as

experiencing death. I had actually experienced a lot of death at one time…my

father died, my best friend died and Big died, all within an eight month period.

I had never experienced anything like that so that was a lot for me to deal

with.

Maybe it made [Voletta Wallace] feel better [to leave Charli

Baltimore out of the film], I don’t know. Maybe it made for juicier story lines

to just use Kim and Faith, I have no clue. It really doesn’t bother me, I

really don’t care. I just don’t like the simple fact that…the one thing that

really bothered me was the car accident thing because again, I have two

daughters and I could have lost my life in that accident and Big also was very

hurt in that accident.

Down Ass Chick – Ja Rule ft Charli Baltimore

AllHipHop.com:

After Ms. Wallace saw the movie and saw the sides of Big that she didn’t get to

see as a mother, she said that it made her not like that side of Big very much.

She said the person that she saw on the screen was a monster at times.

Charli Baltimore:

I mean if that’s the case, everybody’s a monster sometimes. That’s human

nature. I just don’t feel as though if someone was going to tell Big’s story it

should have been his mother, unless he was a child. Christopher had already

become Biggie and he loved his mother to death, but at the end of the day she

can’t tell the accurate story of where Big was in that place in his life. The

only person that could do that were the people that lived in his crib and were

with him everyday and she was not one of those people.

She’s saying she saw something on screen she didn’t like; of

course you’re going to see something on screen you don’t like. I’m pretty sure

if anybody made a movie about anybody’s grown child, they’re going to see

things they don’t like about their child. Like I said if somebody was going to

do a movie about Big, it should have been Damien…D-Roc. I would continue to say

that over and over again, I wouldn’t care if me and Damien hated each other.

It’s the truth.

Big was one of those people that he’ll tell you what he

wants you to know, but he’s not going to confide in you every little waking

detail of his life. When Damien lived right up the hall from Big, he knew every

intimate detail about Big. Damien’s kind of like me in a sense like he doesn’t

speak out too much about it. He lets people say whatever it is they’re going to

say. Everyone benefited from the Big situation but to me, Damien didn’t benefit

from it. You know what I’m saying? Again, I just feel like the things that Big

is legendary for didn’t have anything to do with his relationships. It should

all have to do with the music because that’s what Big is known for.

AllHipHop.com:

Were you asked at all to have any input in this movie?

Charli Baltimore:

I was never asked to have any input in this movie and I do know the person that

was putting this movie together and actually me and him

were tight, so I have a little issue with that. That person also, he knew Big

but he didn’t know Big like that.

It’s funny to me, the people that put this movie together, it’s almost

like they were picking and gathering information and like sticking it together

and it’s not accurate. I don’t need to see the movie to know that it’s not

accurate so, it is what it is.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Rick Ross Disses 50 Cent? Deelishus Murder Attempt? Obama Drugs!?

DISCLAIMER:

All content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.

TODAY’S RUMORS!

THE DAILY TWO CENTS

I don’t have a lot to say, but when you get a chance, I have an interview with KRS-One and Alex Jones. Check it out here. They go IN!TRINA AND KENYON GETTING MARRIEDTrina is about to be in a wedding dress. That’s right, the top selling female rapper of 2008 is going to be getting married, according to reports. Kenyon Martin, her NBA boyfriend, has popped the question and Trina allegedly accepted, according to Media Take Out. “[Kenyon] was inspired by Barack … watching [The President’s] relationship with Michelle was probably what pushed [Kenyon] to pop the question,” a source said. Hmmmm… On top of that, he was supposedly inspired by Barack and Michelle Obama. They are looking to get married in Mexico.

HATER ALMOST KILLED DEELISHUS!

Did you hear this story? Apparently, somebody tried to murder London Charles aka Deelishus! This is what I understand happened. Deelishus was staying at a hotel and she’s just minding her business. She ordered some food from room service. From what I understand, the food never arrived. A manager of the hotel knocked on the door and asked her about her stay. The manager then asked if she had eaten any of the food that they serve. Deelishus didn’t. Come to find out one of the food service people put some sort of poison in her food in an attempt to kill her. The person was hating and jealous of her…so she tried to kill her. The hotel caught it before it got to her. CLOSE CALLS!

DJ DRAMA VS JEEZY?

Esco on K97.5 got at me and gave me some info on the looming beef with Jeezy’s CTE and Drama’s Aphilliates. E told me that DJ Drama, Willie The Kid, and La The Darkman came out to “The Trap Star” spot over the weekend. E had a chance to ask Drama a few questions! First, his new album’s first single “Day Dreaming” features Akon, Snoop and T.I. His album is coming out later this year, I heard. More important I heard Drama expressed no beef with Jeezy and even played the Trap Star’s music all night. Also, he had on a big a$$ “Barack O’Drama” chain! LOL!

RICK ROSS VS 50 CENT

There has been some talk of a beef between 50 Cent and Rick Ross, but nothing ever really panned out until recently. Check out this song and you tell me what you think of this line and this song:

“I love to pay her bills/can’t wait to pay her rent/Curtis Jackson baby mama/I aint askin’ for a cent/Burn the house down/gotta buy another/don’t forget the gas can/jealous, stupid muthaf**ka”

SMH! SARAH PALIN STRIKES AGAIN

Sarah Palin and the Repubs spent roughly $180K on the Alaska Governor during her bid for the vice-presidency. Guess where all that fresh gear is? Stuffed inside garbage bags at the Republican National Committee headquarters in Washington D.C. Rumor has it, Sarah wasn’t able to keep the clothing, because the RNC said they owned it and it was just for image purposes. It was supposed to be given to charity, but no dice.

JANET JACKSON HAS BEEN PARTYING

Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri are 100% over. I thought they were going to work it out, but NAH. I heard that Janet has been frequenting in London and partying with Prince Azim of Brunei at the Mahiki nightclub. The good prince is caked up and spends a lot of money on the famous friends he loves. Anyway…uhmmmm…That’s that.

R.I.P.

Rest in peace to Miss World Finalist Mariana Bridi da Costa. She was only 20, but succumbed to a little-known disease that attacked her quickly. She was from Brazil.

ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

Some Black people are upset that Michelle Obama didn’t wear a dress by an African American to the ball. You know what? Get over it and stop b######’ for God’s sake!

Kanye West is now sporting a Dougie hairstyle. I hope he gives credit to the South for that one.

Paula Abdul claims she inspired both Beyonce and Rihanna.

Tom Joyner and the crew went in on Beyonce saying that she was crying at Barack Obama – not because he was the Black president – but because she can never have that with a “thug” like Jay. I don’t really consider Jay a thug. Seems suspect!

JAY-Z’s NOT MAD AT IMPERSONATORS!

Affion Crockett asks Jay-Z the question we want to know.

JIM JONES…OBAMA=N***AS?

I reported a ways back that Jim Jones has stopped calling people the N-Word, but not substitutes it for “Obama.” So, he might say, “What’s up my Obama.” A reader recently emailed me up and expressed his discontent with the practice.

Hey dog my name is Levonn and I am now will not support anything that Jim Jones and anyone affiliated with him will ever do again. I was never a fan of his but some songs were alright. But this ignorant cat took s### to far. I listened to an interview where he now says “Obamas” in the place of “N#####” . This s### has to be exposed for the self destructive ignorance that it is. It hurts to say this but rappers have influence over young people. I’m not saying Barack is going to solve every problem that blacks face in this county but he is a hell of a start. Jim Jones and his ignorance will only influence young kids that don’t understand the significance of his election and turn it into something derogatory. I say n#### but I really plan on stopping it. Replacing it with another word to tear blacks down will not do. Please I see that you care about this country put his ass on blast!!!!!!!

SIGNS THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END

I got this in my inbox with no link. But check out this madness.

Police said Goncalves was the third and final victim of Keith Luke, a 22-year-old Brockton man who authorities said devised an “evil plan” fueled by racism to kill as many “nonwhites” and Jews as he could before taking his own life.

Luke, authorities alleged yesterday, killed Goncalves and a 20-year-old woman, raped and shot the woman’s 22-year-old sister, but failed in his plans to attack a Jewish synagogue and end his life.

Luke stood in Brockton District Court, hands manacled behind his back, his face scratched and bruised, the outcome of a gun battle, police chase, and car crash.

Luke pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder, one count of aggravated rape, and two counts of armed assault with intent to kill. He was ordered held without bail by Judge James Sullivan.

What a stinkin’ loser! I heard this may have had something to do with the recent inauguration of Barack Obama. I think we need new forms of punishment that entail lashes and beatings. SMH.

EPIC FAIL OF THE DAY

Some dudes got together and decided to create heroin. On top of that New York police arrested five people that named their filthy drugs after new U.S. President Barack Obama. They stamped their weed and smack with ‘Obama” FAIL. I failed when I wrote a satirical article comparing Obama to a drug on the street. Read it here.

SHELZ DROPS IN

Sick Sundays: Late Night Creepin, Gangstarr vs. Pete Rock And CL Part 2.

I know.  It’s late as hell.  Damn imeem for they slow uploading today (or those a##holes at Time Warner), but never let it be said I didn’t deliver.  It’s too late for words so I’m just gonna give you the raw.

For those that asked, at the end of this is Main Ingredient Vs. Hard To Earn.  Let’s go.

Carlito Rossi Ft. D12,Freeway,Roccett & Cashis – Hater In The Club Remix

A whole gang of MC’s from both sides of the country get up on this bi-partisan banger. Philly Freeway takes the cake on this one.

Jay-z -Brooklyn Go Hard Remix

Green Lantern mans up this Jay-z joint.  What a difference a beat makes.  Original burial. Soundbwai rules.

Eastwood Feat. Young Noble and Crooked I-After Inauguration

Since you’re prolly Black Presidented out even by the remix, we taking it to the west side.  It’s a bit different and better lyrically if not with less hype.  Solid.

Bobby Creekwater- She’s Dead

Well  this guy certainly has a strong team.  He’s on myspace, Facebook, the AllHipHop Ill Community and prolly every other grounp trying to get some shine. Consider him shone. “She’s Dead” but the song is semi live.

Raje Feat. Lil Wayne & Tyga- Loser

When he’s not autotuning Wayne is really one of the stronger mainstream rappers out. Period.  This joint is not bad at all even though Raje sounds like Wayne Lite on this.  Bitten flow and style.  All in all though  bumpable

Nikki-Any Day Now

Beat supposedly produced by Dre. (Is anyone reaaally waiting for Detox at this point?) This unsigned new comer is nothing revolutionary or even evolutionary at this stage but it doesn’t suck, which is unfortunately more than I can say for some of this other R& B crap.

Roccet- Give You Some Game

We’ve heard this kind of song before but this is well done by the West Coast homie.  We arranged and well executed.  Solid middle of the album dong.  Dope.

****************************************************

Okay, yesterday we compared Daily Operation with Mecca & The Soul Brother.  The vote was pretty close and since I like punishing you Hip-Hop lovers out there I’m gonna give you another King Solomon choice.  These two groups came head to head a couple years later with a more mature sound each.  You know the drill. Hard To Earn Vs. Main Ingredient.  Hold That.

Peace.

Lil Jon Off The Hook In “Weedman” Copyright Case

A judge rejected an appeal of a copyright lawsuit against Atlanta rapper Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz’ over the track “The Weedman.”

The lawsuit, which also named TVT Records, was dismissed from United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia earlier this week.

Freelance musician Redwin Wilchcombe claimed that he and his manager were members of a production team named “Red Teamwerk.”

In May of 2002, Wilchcombe met Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz at the Audio Vision recording studio, while the rappers were working on their album Kingz of Crunk.

According to the lawsuit, Lil Jon came up with the idea for the song “Weedman,” after someone in the studio suggest they call a dealer for a supply of marijuana.

Wilchcombe, who was in the recording studio, claims he came up with a hook for the record, which was to be used an in interlude or segue between the different sides of Kingz of Crunk.

Lil Jon critiqued the work and also gave input on the track, which Wilchcombe claims he authored in full and performed live for Lil Jon, who approved the words.

Lil’ Jon then allegedly mixed the track, added some vocals and released the song on the 21-track album Kingz of Crunk, which eventually sold over 2 million copies.

Wilchcombe, who filed his copyright for the work almost two years after the album was released, had no written agreement in regards to the song.

In his lawsuit, he acknowledged being a part of the creative process and granted Lil’ Jon oral permission to use the recording.

“The district court correctly found that the parties’ conduct created an implied license,“ ruled Honorable Chief Judge Robert L. Hinkle. “Wilchcombe does not dispute that he created the song for the album at Lil Jon’s request and that he instructed Taylor to send it to Lil Jon for final mixing and inclusion on the album. Wilchcombe testified in his deposition that he understood Lil Jon would use the song on the album. In addition, Wilchcombe does not dispute that when he handed over the song, he never discussed with Taylor or any of the Appellees that using the song would constitute copyright infringement.”

Because there was written contract in regards to the song to support Wilchcombe’s allegations of a breach of fiduciary duty for not being compensated, the district court dismissed his appeal.

“The district court properly rejected these arguments for this reason, and we likewise refuse to give Wilchcombe a ‘second bite at the apple.’”

Afro Samurai: Resurrection Makes Spike TV Debut Jan. 25

Spike TV’s acclaimed anime Afro Samurai will mark its return to television with the new full length movie Afro Samurai: Resurrection.

Afro Samurai: Resurrection features Academy-Award nominated actor and executive producer Samuel Jackson reprising his role as the title character.

Emmy-nominated actress Lucy Liu voices Sio, described by the cast as a “beautiful, seductive, and sadistic mastermind plotting to destroy Afro Samurai.”

Mark Hamill, known for his role as Luke Skywalker in the classic Star Wars saga and recently his voice work as the Joker in the animated Batman series, will also join the cast as Bin, Sio’s manservant and protector.

The story picks up with Afro now attempting to move on with his life after avenging the murder of his father and coping with his target status as the recognized best fighter in the world.

“We’re moving on to the next phase of his life. He’s become #1, but reluctantly, and he refuses to actually wear the headband and be #1,” Samuel Jackson told the Los Angeles Times. “He’s gone into seclusion and is doing penance for all the people he’s killed, making little shrines for them. Then this woman shows up and wants to reanimate his father’s skeleton and create some sort of zombie army, which bring him out of retirement to defend his family’s honor.”

Wu-Tang’s the RZA will again handle the film’s soundtrack.

After its initial airing, Spike TV will showcase the motion picture in future installments as four half-hour episodes.

Afro Samurai: Resurrection debuts tonight January 25 from 10PM-12AM on Spike TV.

On February 3, three versions of the film will be released on DVD: an unrated director’s cut, the edited Spike TV airing, and the Blu-Ray version.
