Beanie Joins G-Unit: ‘I’m Putting My Foot On His Neck’

50 Cent’s efforts to support former Roc-a-Fella Records artist Beanie Sigel seem to have resulted in a deal to bring the Broad Street Bully to G-Unit Records.

Both artists confirmed the move during a private screening of 50’s directorial debut, Before I Self Destruct on Tuesday evening (November 3) in Philadelphia.

The presentation was hosted by Power 99 (WUSL-FM), which allowed fans the opportunity to win tickets to the screening .

Sigel joined 50 towards the end of an on-air interview with “The Hot Boyz” Mikey Dredd and Uncle O, leading to a candid ten minute conversation.

During the interview, 50 and Beans revealed that “Beans is coming to G-Unit,” with no additional details as to how soon the new partnership might yield an album or single.

The interview also presented a chance for Sigel to respond to Jay-Z’s reaction to “Average Cat.”

“People think that I’m just speaking out because I’m in the position that I am and I ain’t put no music out. Let’s go to Jay-Z’s rebuttal about the complaints of Beanie Sigel: the two Bentleys that I obtained, Jay-Z had nothing to do with that. That was a car from Damon Dash and from Kareem Burke.”

He goes on to explain that the car was given to him after a conversation between Dame and others revealed that Dash was in fact the owner and driver of the Bentley, at which point he no longer wanted to be seen driving the vehicle.

The other Bentley was given to him as a birthday present by Burkes, leaving him to pay the remaining balance on the car note.

“So, Beanie Sigel was driving around to Bentleys and had to pay $5100 a month. It’s not like you helped me attain all this wealth and gave me the two Bentleys. You didn’t give me a record label. It only cost a couple hundred dollars to search the name ‘State Property Records,’ nobody owned it; I think I paid another couple hundred dollars and I patented the LLC. So my record label only cost me $750, to say on a piece of paper that I own State Property Records, LLC. I did that on my own, you didn’t give me that. And what artists was on that label?”

Beans reveals that he was only a 20% partner in the State Property clothing line, with Jay-Z, Dame Dash and their Rocawear partners owning the rest.

Sigel had presented the idea to Dash as their relationship drew strength based on the rift between Jay and Dame, he says.

Even though he revealed that Damon Dash allegedly went behind his back and sabotaged State Property’s clothing product, Sigel admonished Jay-Z for what he refers to as continued unnecessary jabs at a man he’s clearly defeated.

“Take me out, Dame and Biggs were your mans from day one. If he [Dame] was messing up the money y’all should’ve been able to straighten that out. Whatever the gripe, you took everything from him already,” Sigel argued. “You took the clothing line, the record label, he has nothing. Now he’s going through financial difficulties. Then he loses his wife and gets a divorce. You feel that comfortable on a record to say ‘Lucky Lefty, kiss the wife goodnight for me.?’ You already killed the man, he’s dead already! Now you’re going to stand over top of him and urinate on him and stomp on him? You can do that? I got something to say about that.”

On whether to expect more diss records, Sigel made it clear he would continue to go at Jay lyrically until he gets a response, and predicted he has the skill set to emerge vuictorious.

“He’s a crumb. I’m putting my foot on his neck ‘til he responds. Please make a record, ‘cause a week been out dog,” he taunted.

“Not taking nothing from Jay as an artist. All I’m saying is I ain’t gotta jog to keep up with him. Watch what I do next,” Beans said as he did the signature G-Unit stuttering proclamation.

Beanie Sigel Joins G Unit, Makes Radio Announcement with 50

The issues between Jay-Z and Beanie Sigel took another twisted turn last night as Beans and 50 Cent appeared on Power 99 to officially announce the Philly emcee’s signing to G Unit.

During the interview, 50 Cent mostly played the background as Beanie Sigel layed out his grievances with his former Roc-a-fella leader, speaking on his alleged money mismanagement over two Bentleys and his record label.

“Beanie Sigel was driving around in two Bentleys and only had to pay $5100 a month. So it’s not like I obtained all this wealth, like you [Jay-Z] helped me get all this wealth and you gave me two Bentleys. They just gave away monthly plans,” Sigel explained. “You shot yourself in the foot with that. You didn’t give me a record label. It only cost a couple hundred to search the name, State Property Records, nobody owned it. I patented the LLC, and it only cost me $750 to say on a piece of paper that I own State Property Records. I did that on my own, you didn’t give me that.”

You feel that comfortable on a  record to say ‘Lucky Lefty, kiss the wife goodnight for me?’ You already killed the man, he’s dead already! Now you’re going to stand over top of him and urinate on him and stomp on him? You can do that? I got something to say about that.

On whether to expect more diss records, Sigel made it clear he would continue to go at Jay lyrically until he gets a response, and predicted he has the skill set to emerge vuictorious.

“He’s a crumb, and I’m going to put my foot on his neck until he responds!” Sigel exclaimed as 50 laughed in the background. “Please make a record because a week has been out, dog. I’m not taking nothing from Jay-Z as an artist, he ain’t no walk in the park. All I’m saying is I don’t have a job to keep up to him. Watch what I do next.”

“And Beans is coming to G Unit,” 50 added as Beans did the signature G Unit stuttering proclamation.

At press time, Jay-Z could not be reached for comment.

AllHipHop ChartWatch: Triple C’s Sales Are In, Hip-Hop Drops Out Of The Big 10…

AllHipHop ChartWatch for November 4, 2009

The

Hip Hop has been sparse on the charts these last few weeks with only Jay-Z and

The Black Eyed Peas moving any numbers in the top ten.  Hopefully things should start to turn around

as the big fourth quarter albums begin to drop.

Until then at least some rivalry will be able to hold the fans

attention.  I’ll be honest…a rap beef

between Rick Ross and 50 Cent never really interested me.  Even the beef between Fat Joe and 50 seemed

dated and unnecessary.  For awhile there

I thought the Joe Budden/Raekwon incident would produce some decent tracks from

two great lyricists but all we got was youtube videos.  Granted they were entertaining videos but I

would have appreciated a song or two.  I’m

even starting to wonder whether Jay-Z will respond to 50 Cent’s constant poking

in the media.  But Beanie Siegel….That’s

a different story.  I don’t think a true

Hip Hop fan can deny that Beans can hold his own with Jay-Z (lyrically) which

means we might actually get a decent rap battle between two greats.  We may get an actual mainstream battle

between two MC’s.  When’s the last time

that happened?

Well

like I said earlier the charts are lacking on the Hip-Hop side.  It’s like Michael Jackson came and knocked

Hip Hop out of the top 10.  The late

great King of Pop holds the number one spot with the movie soundtrack This Is It.  That leaves Jay-Z and The Black Eyed Peas

holding the eleventh and fifteenth spot on the countdown.  The Black Eyed Peas sell another 29,000

copies of their latest album The E.N.D

while The Blueprint 3 moves a strong 40,000.

Meanwhile,

congratulations need to go out to Tech N9ne.

The Midwest MC managed to grab the number 14th spot (beating out B.E.P) by

selling 30,000 copies of his latest disc K.O.D.  He was in “Dropping” last week so it’s nice

to see him crack the top fifty and do some decent numbers

Drake

falls from the 23rd to the 41st spot but still manages to

sell another 12,900 copies of his mixtape-turned-album So Far Gone. Rick Ross and Triple C’s sell about 11,523. Wonder if that will make 50 Cent weep?

Sadly,

there was no Hip-Hop in the top 10 and only what is up above in the top 50.  Maybe a little verbal sparring

between some Hip Hop heavyweights coupled with some late year releases will

boost the upcoming week’s sales.  Let’s

move onto “Dropping”.

Dropping

This Week

First

up in “Dropping this Week” is a producer out of Switzerland.  He has produced for the likes of the French

r&b duo Les Nubians, the Westcoast, underground MC Blu, and Canadian Hip

Hop group Swollen Members.  Underground producer

Chief finally releases his debut album.

The Swiss beatmaker drops his debut album, Collabo Collection, which is a gathering of tracks created between

2005 and 2009.  The album features some

of the previously mentioned artists as well as Tha Connection, Abstract Rude,

and John Robinson.  This should have a

nice sound.  If you haven’t had a chance

to hear any music from Chief then this album offers you the opportunity to

catch up.

Kentucky

Hip Hop trio return with the second installment of their album released last

March.  Cunninlynguists drop Strange

Journey Volume II a new album featuring E-40Sean PriceBlue

Sky Black DeathBronze Nazareth, Poison Pen, Guilty Simpson and J-Zone.  There is also an extended version of the

album being released that contains twelve instrumentals so if Cunninlynguist is

your type of group you probably want to pick this one up.

Next up, Gift of Gab from the

critically acclaimed duo Blackalicious, releases another solo album.  Escape

2 Mars is the rapper’s second solo album and features Del The Funky

Homosapien and Brother Ali.  Gift of Gab

is known for his lyrical ability so those looking to hear a complex rhyme

structure that may be lacking on their local radio should pick this one up.

Keeping up with the “Hell” theme as

shown by his debut album For The Hell Of

It, and subsequent discs Hard As Hell,

and Hell Up In The Bronx comes the

latest album from Hell Rell, Live From

Hell.  The album is Hell Rell

live.  At this point it’s hard to keep up

with who is in/out/feuding with/dropping out of/just an affiliate of Dip

Set.  Fans of Hell Rell shouldn’t be

disappointed.  I don’t know about the

rest of us but the fans should like it.

Underground Houston Rapper K-Rino

releases his latest album Solitary

Confinement. K-Rino has been rapping since ’83 and has been involved in the

Houston underground scene for a number of years.  If you’re looking at hearing some wordplay

out of H-Town then this will be the album to pick up.

Next up is Atlanta duo The Yin Yang

Twins who are releasing Legendary Status:

Yin Yangs Twins Greatest Hits.  Actually

I don’t know who is releasing this one because it doesn’t have “Whistle While You Twurk”, “”Say I Yi Yi”, and “Wait

(The Whisper Song)” but it does have “Salt Shaker”.  I guess that’s a greatest hits.

 Next up are Hip

Hop pioneers Masta Ace and Ed O.G who team up to release the album Arts and Entertainment.  The album features Posdanus of De La Soul, Large Professor, DJ Spinna, KRS-One, Mr.

Lif, Akrobatik and Chester French. Production is handeld by Double O of Kidz in

the Hall, M Phases, DJ Supreme One and Frank Dukes.

It’s not often that a female MC

releases an album these days.  Chicago MC

by way of Atlanta Rita J releases her

debut album, Artist Workshop, on the

underground label, All Natural, Inc.  The

Southern Illinois University at Carbondale graduate has worked with other artists like DJ Spinna, Digable Planets, J-Live, Jungle Brothers, Stacy

Epps, Stahhr the Femcee, and Black S####.

Fans of Hip Hop should give her a chance and take a look at the debut

album.

That’s it for Dropping this Week so

go pick up an album or two.

Tech N9ne: King of Darkness

Beneath the trite, one-dimensional “Rap” landscape there is a lair of darkness. The darkness should not be confused nor associated with any macabre notions. This solemn refuge is a haven for creative and lyrical Hip-Hop. At the center of this subterranean empire sets a throne. Atop that throne sits Aaron Yates, affectionately known to his loyal subjects as, Tech N9ne. Even though Tech began his ascent as a B-Boy, he became baptized in rhyme back in ’85. Ever since he has been on a mission to satisfy his insatiable appetite to extend his dominion.

An unapologetic audacity is exuded from Tech as he readies himself to conquer the mainstream.  The deafening chant of “F*** The Industry” is just one of his audible calling cards. Some people are unable to see past his painted face and sometimes-spiked crimson coif; however, others welcome his darkness. With his absolute diversity comes a greater perspective. There’s no manufactured pretense in this MC’s persona. If he’s in his hometown of Kansas City, Missouri or if he’s abroad, this autobiographical lyricist is always approachable.

AllHipHop.com is granted special access to the undulating thoughts of Tech N9ne. The self-made wordsmith discusses everything from earning his platinum status, to becoming Hip-Hop President to signing Brotha Lynch Hung. Tech N9ne isn’t defying boundaries, he is opening eyes that have been blinded by the light. This afflicted angle demonstrates how one may go from the darkness to the light.

AllHipHop.com:  Your popularity has grown over the years, in September of ’08 you became the first ever indie artist to earn platinum status, to what do you contribute this feat?

Tech N9ne: I don’t know, mama. I think that we have a lot more work to do. Travis [O’Guinn, business partner] called me and said that we did that. I was cool. I was happy with it; but, it let me know that we have a lot more people to infect. We have to infect them because we are independent and we don’t have no videos or no radio. For that to happen it’s a wonderful thing.

The fact that we’re touring so much and we’re keeping it global. Day by day, tour by tour, year by year is why that happened… I’m spreading like a plague, baby. I’m just trying to get down these motherf***ers throat; because, they talk so much s*** about me— about me being a devil worshiper and all that. I’m an angel, you know what I mean— this album is the one that’s going to say f*** you, that you felt that I was a devil worshiper…  I don’t give a f*** what n****s think about me; and I said that … This is going to be the one. The fact that they we sold a million doesn’t matter; we have to sell a million more. This is the first time that we got international distribution, all over the world, n***a, on this album—it’s about to be murder!

AllHipHop.com:  K.O.D. [King of Darkness] is out. How do you challenge yourself to exercise your creativity with each new project?

Tech N9ne: Every album keeps getting better and better to me, lyrically.  I challenge myself daily. Sometimes I’ll write a word, like, before I start to rhyme it. If I say something like—“Man, I feel it, I can’t shake it/indicates my space is a basement/ I can’t erase my abrasive encasement…” The first thing I say is, “I can’t shake it…”; then I know that I can rhyme that, “…it indicates that my space is a basement…”; I know that I can work around, “my space is a basement…”; then out of nowhere, something will come up like, “I can’t earse my abrasive encasement”… you know what I’m saying?“I’m chasing matrix, appetite’s not complacent…”; where the f*** that come from? I just sit there. I’ll rhyme a word and then I’ll rhyme a rhyme. Then all of a sudden they’ll just all come out; like, beautiful f***ing rhymes. I challenge myself every time.

AllHipHop.com: The music business is inundated with affiliations and politics; why should you be elected as Hip-Hop’s president?

Tech N9ne: Because, just think of it like this, I’m the number one independent artist in the world; just imagine if I was on TV and radio like the rest of these n****s, what else would I be number one at? I don’t give a f*** how weird I am, I don’t give a f*** that I paint my face, or nothing. I love Hip-Hop. So, just imagine if I wasn’t just grinding on the streets; because, that’s all we do. That’s how we became, number one, independent. We just do what we do, we don’t even dabble in radio or video…

That’s real. If we started doing Tech N9ne like they do Lil Wayne, like they do Jay-Z, like they do all these other n****s, like they do T.I., just think of what I would be number one at. I already know that I can run for Hip-Hop president and wreck it; because of my charisma, because of my skill, because of my brain, because of my heart, my soul. I give it all. I think that that deserves the highest point of appreciation from the fans. I give it all; and not being closed-up or boxed in with my lyrics.

“Show Me A God”

AllHipHop.com:  Would you thrive in this office? What rap laws would you abolish or repeal?

Tech N9ne:  I don’t really know, man. I think that all’s fair in love and war. A lot of n****s be hating, just because I don’t rap how they rap… I can be in the club and say, “Hop up out the bed, get my swag on/ take a look in the mirror/ say what’s up/ yeah, I get money/Oh!” Come on, man. I can say that and have a good time. You’re there to dance. A lot of these n****s hate ‘Nah, that ain’t real Hip-Hop, nah that ain’t real Hip-Hop. That n**** is mesing it up.’ Shut up, get your money! Leave that man alone; that’s young money. I wouldn’t abolish nothing. Maybe I would abolish n****s wearing these tight ass pants, that’s about it.

AllHipHop.com:  [laughs] So, lemme find out Tech doesn’t wear them d*** print jeans.

Tech N9ne: Hell nah! I would abolish these n****s wearing these tight ass pants. But, these are kids, most of all. So, if that’s the style with the kids then we’ll laugh from afar. You know that song, “Teach Me How To Jerk” [by the New Boyz]  is dope as a motherf***er… Them n****s are taking it to the floor and s***. I don’t know how they hit the floor with them tight ass jeans on…  But if I were to abolish anything, being Hip-Hop president, I would have them take them gaddam tight ass jeans off they ass and put them back on they woman.

AllHipHop.com:  It’s been 10 years since you partnered with Travis O’Guinn to create your imprint, Strange Music. The roster is growing; how would you describe the feeling you got once you had the ability to offer, Brotha Lynch Hung, a deal?

Tech N9ne: They see what we’ve been doing since we’ve started. Brotha Lynch been a beast for years. When he came out with 24 Deep I was a fan. I got real cool with him when I was touring the Midwest area. They’ve seen me come from nothing to something. So, it’s like, why wouldn’t they? When I offered them a deal, we were like this is what we can do, this is what we got—this s*** is wonderful, roll with us, n****.  Why wouldn’t they, when everybody else is on the decline, and we’re on the incline.

“They talk so much s*** about me— about me being a devil worshiper and all that. I’m an angel, you know what I mean— this album is the one that’s going to say f*** you, that you felt that I was a devil worshiper.”

-Tech N9ne

AllHipHop.com:  Is there a release date for Lynch’s Dinner and a Movie?

Tech N9ne: There was a release date, it was going to be the same date as K.O.D; but he’s been working—and whatever it takes to get that music out, I don’t give a f***. That second single, hardcore, baby. He’s so f***ing talented, lyrically, you know what I’m saying?  That n**** is dope! That motherf***er is murderous. This n**** is insane; but, in a beautiful way.

AllHipHop.com: When I first started hearing about you I assumed you were from The Bay. It seems like I always heard you on tracks with Northern Cali artists. Are you still a member of The Regime and are y’all still working on music?

Tech N9ne:  Forever, I will be a member of The Regime, all hail the Colonel, motherf***ing Yukmouth. Yeah, whenever Yukmouth hits me up and say, ‘Ay, I need like two of them.’ When ever he calls me it’s on and cracking. I don’t give a f*** what I’m doing; that’s my brother. Man, he put me on back then—and didn’t have to; because, he loved my talent. He a real n****!

AllHipHop.com:  Let’s go back to Anghellic, On “Cursed,” you mentioned Tupac. Did you have the opportunity to work with him before he passed?

Tech N9ne: Not before he passed; we were planning to work while he was here. QD3 did my music and he did Pac’s music. He did “To Live & Die in L.A.” QD3, Quincy Jones the third; yadada, we were planning to do a song together—then he passed. A couple of months after he passed, QD3 said, ‘Ay man, do you still want to do that song with Pac?’ I’m like, “What do you mean?” He was like, ‘” left a verse open for you on this one song.” I’m like, Sure. And he sent it to me and I did it.

“Thugs Get Lonely Too,” [I’m on] the first one, on Makaveli 5, “thugs get lonely too/ thugs get lonely too/ it don’t matter what you do/ thugs get lonely too…” It was the very first one, not the one that Eminem remixed, with Nate Dogg and them, not that one. They took my verse off that one. Yeah, the s***’s off the hinges; I’m honored.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Beanie & 50 Talk Jay! Shyne Speaks! Mazaradi Fox Moves On.

DISCLAIMER:

All content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.

THE DAILY TWO SENSE

Ok…I am going to put it on the line. All this Jay-Z/50 Cent/ Beanie stuff…come on. There’s just too much talking going on right now. People are explaining and talking deal points and stuff. Its time to get it on! Battle or something. If you aren’t going to battle it out then stop the yippin and the yappin!

And a lot of people are telling me that Beans is now on G-Unit. I am being told this just isn’t the case.

50 CENT DOING A 50 CENT DAY IN ATL?

The word from the streets is that 50 Cent is working on something in ATL similar to what he did for “Queens Day.” Now, this would really prove that 50 Cent is doing something big to get the unity going. This would be outside of his core places like NYC and Queens. No word on what rappers he’s be working with.

MAZARADI FOX…MOVES ON!

I have to admit, I don’t know a lot about this man, Mazaradi Fox. Well, somebody told me that he had some issues with credibility and was forced to bow out of G-Unit. Dude has set up his own label to get on without 50 Cent.

“After gracefully bowing out of his musical ties with G-unit Records, Fox now has dedicated his full attention to his own independent label Dumout Records which harvests the biggest buzz on the streets of New York’s hip hop circuit. Mazaradi looks to take the hip-hop crown into his possession for 2010.”

THE REAL DEAL WITH

Well, there may be more to this Charlamagne stuff than meets the eye. I got some very interesting intel that seems to suggest a few new theories on why he was fired. Now, I’ve got to admit that I have heard my fair share of unjust stories like Jay-Z snapped his fingers and he C Tha God was fired. But, I have another theory from an insider. Basically, I am hearing that the “brass” at the station would always make “suggestions” to Charlamagne and he wouldn’t take those suggestions. Also, I was told that they wanted the show to be a bit more silly. C is a funny dude, but silly never comes to mind. I also heard that there was a change in the higher-ups. I won’t specify the position, but I heard that the person basically gave Charlamagne a hard time for no reason. The point is, I am being told that it is super unlikely that Jay-Z got him let go. There has been alleged friction for some time now at the workplace. Chance has another idea in a few rumors.

CHANCE ENCOUNTERS

IT’S OFFICIAL?

An employee at the station where Charlamagne worked says they can confirm “100%” that he was fired over the Beanie Sigel interview.  They say:“You have to understand, the station has to maintain an amicable relationship with

Jay-Z and his camp because this man is the biggest rapper in the game

right now…He’s a business.

So you can’t risk ruining a relationship like that just to draw

ratings. A radio personality can always be replaced and with the proper

set-up, put in a position to succeed. It’s better for the station to

replace that person than ruin a relationship with [Jay-Z]”

Well there ya have it…be careful what you say about Jay…he could probably get YOU fired … yes YOU!!!!

excited about her “provocative dance moves and half-naked outfits” and

want it called off.  The same thing just happened in Malaysia forcing

her to cancel a concert.

I posted a

wasn’t sure if it was anything more than a photo op.  Apparently the

together and when asked about being single, Tahiry said ““Single life

is great, I love it.  I miss Joey. We were together for a long time, but he’s doing his thing now and I’m doing mine.”

I still got my fingers crossed for those two crazy kids.

The Game’s “R.E.D. Album” Postponed

An Interscope Records representative confirmed that The Game’s fourth solo offering The R.E.D. Album has been postponed.

The source told AllHipHop.com that a new release date has yet to be chosen for the project, which was due out December 8, 2009.

Game made the announcement early Tuesday afternoon (November 3) via his Twitter page, where he has been actively promoting the project since early October.

“Album is Officially pushed back, says Interscope so that I can finish wit Dre without having to rush him, myself or the album. Think R.E.D,” the L.A. rapper Tweeted.

He had warned followers of the possibility of a changed date on Friday (October 30), when he advised them not “be to fast to lock in [his] Dec. 8 release date.”

Last week, the artist revealed the first three songs from R.E.D., a titled which he has stated represents his “rededication” to Hip-Hop, rather than a gang reference.

The official single,”Big Money” surfaced on Thursday (October 29) and is produced by Cool & Dre, the production duo responsible for “Hate It or Love It,” the second single on Game’s 2005 debut The Documentary, and four tracks on Game’s last LP, L.A.X.

On the same day, Game also debuted his street single “Krazy,” featuring Gucci Mane which was produced by Timbaland, who also appears on the record.

Other confirmed contributors to the album include Chris Brown, Akon, Polow Da Don, and Jim Jonsin, who produced the song “Better Days,” which was also released last week.

The Game has also revealed that in preparation for the album, he will release four new mixtapes before the end of the year.

The projected titles are R.E.D. October, hosted by DJ Drama as part of his popular Gangsta Grillz series; Red Tape, hosted by Game’s tour DJ, Miami-based DJ Krys Stylez; Paint The Town RED, hosted by Nu Jerzey Devil; and The Redprint, hosted by DJ Haze.

No word on when exactly these mixtapes will be available to the public.

Waitress Sues Jermaine Dupri, Da Brat Over Club Assault

So So Def CEO Jermaine Dupri and longtime associate Da Brat have been hit with a lawsuit over an assault that occurred in Jermaine Dupri’s Atlanta club, Studio 72.

Shayla Stevens, a former Atlanta Falcons and model, filed a civil lawsuit in Fulton County Superior Court, claiming Da Brat struck her in the face with a bottle, causing serious injuries.

The lawsuit claims Da Brat, born Shawntae Harris, has a criminal record and violent past record of assaulting other women.

Stevens was an employee at Dupri’s Studio 72 nightspot, located just outside of Atlanta.

Stevens lawsuit claims Dupri, a promoter named Joseph London and security personnel failed to protect her from Da Brat during an altercation at a Halloween party October of 2007.

Da Brat struck Stevens with a bottle of rum, causing permanent scars and nerve damage to Stevens’ face.

In August of 2008, Da Brat pleaded guilty to Felony Aggravated Assault and was subsequently sentenced to three years in prison.

Upon her release, Da Brat must also serve seven years of probation and perform 200 hours worth of community service.

In 2000, Da Brat was charged with beating another woman with a gun during a dispute in the V.I.P. section of a Buckhead, Georgia night club.

In that assault, which required her victim to receive six stitches, Da Brat was sentenced to 80 hours of probation and fined $1,000.

Stevens, who is suing for an undisclosed amount, is represented by Stephen Apolinski.Help AllHipHop.com and take this survey please!

NFL Wrap-Up Week 8 – Who Dat? Those Saints…

Ok, let’s make one thing clear, I love Football. I wouldn’t feel right in writing an NFL Wrap-up every week if I had a favorite team. With that being said, if you notice that I cover one team more than another, check me on it. Trust that I don’t mind it. Just do one thing for me. If you choose to call me out because I haven’t covered your team, I am watching you. Ladies and Gentlemen, OWN UP!

So “Who Dat say they going to beat those Saints”? After last night, nobody (typing that slogan hurt the intelligent part of my brain). The New Orleans Saints are not just undefeated, they are tested. We aren’t looking at a team that hasn’t faced playoff ready competition. We’re looking at a competitive team that doesn’t back down; a team that embodies its hometown’s spirit in facing adversity with strength and grace. The Atlanta Falcons brought it last night. Michael “The Churner” Turner rushed for one of the toughest runs I’ve seen all season. But when you have an emotional leader like Drew “The General” Brees on the field, any pass from any distance, any angle and every situation are possible. He makes his teammates better by not only being the smartest mind on the field; his pinpoint accuracy could make a Pro Bowl player out of his entire receiving squad. Oh yea, Reggie plays for the Saints as well…

The Tennessee Titans are off the slide, winning their first game this season with Vince Young behind the center. The Titans fought hard and came out with a victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. And after watching the Detroit Lions go through a complete season without winning a game, this win for the Titans was a sigh of relief that every team and every fan of the league breathed out. However, there’s just something about Vince Young, wait I know what it is… it was told that he quit on his team last year, which led to him losing his starting quarterback role. There is no crying in baseball and no room for quitters in the NFL. Of course, quitting was denied by Vince at that time. All I know is, winning better be on his mind for the rest of the season. The owner of the Titans called for Young’s reemergence. Let’s hope that it was for his belief in Vince’s talent, and not just to get that large rookie contract off the bench.

There weren’t as many blowouts this past weekend as last week. But wow, those Eagles made the New York Giants look like, well, the Washington Redskins. The Eagles are utilizing their young weapons of the future; Deshaun “The Blur” Jackson, Jeremy “Magneto” Maclin and LeSean “Gap Killer” McCoy, the possible heir apparent to injury stricken Brian Westbrook. Not to mention a defense that leads the league in takeaways, led by Asante “I’ll be taking that” Samuel. On all four cylinders, the Eagles are a tough team to beat. But somehow, they find a way to beat themselves at the wrong time.

In what was promoted as the “Game of the Week” Favre 4.0 and the Minnesota Vikings went into Lambeau and beat the Green Bay Packers 38-26. Favre 4.0 was welcomed into the stadium by a sea of boos, and left the field in a waterfall of tears. If you’re anything like me, you are glad that the Favre 4.0 story has run its course. Now we can get on with our regularly scheduled normal lives.

As always, I can’t talk about every team in these wrap-ups. We are coming up on the halfway point of the regular season. The Saints and the Colts stand alone as the only undefeated teams in the league (sorry, Denver). Which team do you feel is more likely to run the table for the Regular Season? I’d just like to hear from true fans; especially the fans that team took an “L” over the weekend. I love this game!

Young Money Prez Mack Maine Addresses Lil Wayne’s Jail Sentence

Jail time may be imminent for Lil Wayne, but it’s business as usual for the rap star’s Young Money record label and crew.

According to the label’s president Mack Maine, all efforts are geared toward releasing new material from Young Money’s stable of artists as well as maintaining its current standing in the eyes of rap fans.

The label is currently enjoying the success and buzz generated by rapper Drake. The Canadian artist is set to release his highly-anticipated album, Thank Me Later, next year.

“My main focus and priority right now [is the] Young Money album December 15,” Mack Maine told AllHipHop.com, while mentioning future releases from Lil Wayne and Cash Money artists such as Baby and Jay Sean. “Rebirth, December 15. Baby album, November. 23. That’s the main s**t. Jay Sean, November 23 too. So that’s what I’m worried about right now.”

The arrival of the Young Money albums comes as Lil Wayne prepares to serve time in prison, after pleading guilty last week to attempted weapons possession. The plea was the result of a 2007 incident when authorities stopped the rapper’s tour bus after a concert in New York.

Lil Wayne faces a year in jail from that case. Despite, the circumstances, Mack Maine mentioned that Lil Wayne is “good.”

“We ain’t even looking at that. We just making sure everything goes straight with these new projects and making sure we eating.’ Keep it moving,” the executive stated. “No matter what, we wake up everyday expecting the unexpected. So nothing come to us as a surprise. You just gotta move through adversity, you know.”

Mack Maine is hopeful things will work out to quicken Lil Wayne’s return after he begins his sentence in February.

“It’s supposed to be eight months, but you know how that go,” the rapper/music executive said. “They can get that cut down. Hopefully he won’t have to do the whole eight.”

Lil Wayne’s attachment to Young Money has provided a bridge towards the label’s alliance with Louisiana-based Cash Money Records, a union Mack Maine sees as beneficial to both parties well as Drake and fellow Young Money artists Nicki Minaj, Gudda Gudda, Jae Millz.

Lil Twist, Lil Chuckee, Shanell, Tyga. Short Dawg and T-Streets.

“You combine Young Money with Cash Money, that’s crazy. They got Jay Sean, Kevin Rudolf, Bow Wow. You got some other artists too that’s about to come out,” Mack Maine told AllHipHop.com. “You got so much diversity in different genres, we just about to take over,” said Mack Maine, who sees infinite possibilities for Young Money in the coming months while predicting the label will go “somewhere it’s never been taken, somewhere we never went.”

“I don’t know where we gonna land. Hopefully, we never land,” he added as he encouraged fans to pick up Gudda Gudda’s upcoming mixtape, Bills, as well as Tyga’s soon to be released effort Black Thoughts.

“Keep going though, no ceilings. That’s the name of the new [Lil Wayne] mixtape that just leaked. So if it’s no ceilings, what’s the top? There is no top.”

Tyrese:The Renaissance Super Hero

Tyrese is a real life modern day renaissance man. The Watts, California native dabbles in pretty much any and everything in the entertainment world, and he’s wildly successful with it all. He boasts a successful musical career filled with chart topping singles and platinum plaques, a modeling career, and an acting career that involves both television and roles in films such as Baby Boy, Too Fast Too Furious, and the record breaking Transformers series. Now the musician /actor is stepping into the realm of comic books and tackling it head on with his new mini series entitled, Mayhem.

AllHipHop.com: What inspired you to get into comic books?

Tyrese: I never grew up reading comic books, so I represent the new generation of comic book fans. It’s never too late to get involved in comic books. What happened was I was at this comic book convention they have in San Diego called Comic Con like everybody else in Hollywood showing off the movies, the movie trailers, and doing questions and answers, and press interviews trying to tap into that audience of real comic book fans because these guys are the real deal. So I was out there for Death Race with Jason Statham, and for me when I was exposed to all that selfless passion it made me want to be apart of that world. So once I figured it out me and my team came up with this comic book idea for a character named Mayhem.

AllHipHop.com: How is it doing so far?

Tyrese: Its went great so far by selling over 30,000 on paper. We sold 10,000 comic books at one store and that’s the most ever for that store. I’m dealing with the Spielberg’s’ and the Will Smiths’ of the comic book world. These cats are legends they don’t just back up and get on anything pertaining to the comic book world they have to really believe in who you are and what you got going. So it’s happened really fast and now this idea that hit me is, this is the normal comic book experience. You go to a comic book store, you pay your 2.99 for a comic and you go home and you read and whatever interpretation you get from that comic book is what you walk away with, and I was like you know what I want to turn it up a notch.

AllHipHop.com: And how did you go and do that?

Tyrese: So, with my comic book I invented this technology with the same folks that invented Itunes, and basically it’s a digital comic book. It’s on the main page of ITunes in over 38 countries around the world and it’s never been done in the history of comic books, and it’s never been done in the history of ITunes, it’s a first. With the comic book comes me doing the voice over work and there’s sound effects. If you see a window crash you can actually hear it now, and when you see gunshots it’s like a movie you hear it like a sound effect. I also scored it so I got music throughout the whole comic book. Its history, we made history when it was announced on September 9.

AllHipHop.com: What’s the story behind the title character of the series?

Tyrese: Mayhem is a modern day, gun-slinging vigilante. He’s like a modern day Robin Hood and he’s seeking refuge in the basement of a church. Like his headquarters are underneath a church so we established that he’s out fighting crime, but at the same time he’s spiritually struggling to get his life back on track, and there’s a crime boss in the city of Los Angeles called Big X who is his rival. Big X is running this big criminal drug organization, and he’s killing a lot of people, and I’m on a mission to take him down. But there’s a big secret that interlinks the two characters and it’s going to be revealed later down the line in later issues.

AllHipHop.com: Why did you choose to go with Image Comics over a Marvel or a DC?

Tyrese: Because we still own Mayhem. Anything you do with Marvel or DC you don’t own anymore it’s theirs.

AllHipHop.com: So even though it scheduled to be a 3 issue mini series do you think if the success is there it can become a long term project?

Tyrese: Well yea the thing is we’ve had some major success and there’s a possibility it may continue, but we have a surprise and ill tell you first exclusively. We’re doing a zero issue which is technically going to put us at four issues for the graphic novel. The zero issue and a portion of the proceeds are going to go to the Hero Initiative. A lot of people don’t know what the hero initiative, but its for all of the comic book creators and artists and writers who are just broke and cant pay their bills and cant survive and they have contributed some legendary comic book characters and some legendary titles, but they signed bad contracts or whatever else and they’re just not surviving. So the hero initiative is to help them with cancer and all of these other issues that they’re naturally going through because of how old they are because they were the legends that helped these comic books get off the ground when they first started. So we’re doing this zero issue and we’re donating a large portion of the proceeds from all of the sales of the issue to the hero initiative.

AllHipHop.com: Historically comic books tend to have had very few black superheroes. If Mayhem continues with its success do you feel that it could potentially be a launching pad for more black title characters to be created within the industry?

Tyrese: It’s unfortunate that they don’t associate a black comic book character to being successful because in the world of comic books it’s everything, but black that represents a super hero. I’m going to be honest though and say that I never went out and purposely made this a black motivated. I wasn’t motivated to go out and make a comic book because they weren’t enough black super heroes out there, I just wanted to make comic book character and obviously I wasn’t going to do a white character. I purposely stayed away from the whole, “I noticed there wasn’t enough black super heroes and I wanted t do something about it”, that wasn’t my motivation I just really wanted to create a comic book and that’s what we did.

AllHipHop.com: So why do you think Hollywood and just entertainment in general are in love with comic books right now?

Tyrese: Well its been an obvious level of success that the Iron Man, and the Spider Man, and the Batman have had, and when you look at those box office receipts its pretty much a given why the excitement for comic books is out there. Something that I found interesting that a lot of people don’t know is that a lot of these huge movies have come from comic books. Hancock came from a comic book character, the movie Wanted stems from a comic book. People just go out and see the movies but they don’t realize that these movies really came from a comic book. You got the obvious ones of course but there’s a lot that people don’t know.

AllHipHop.com: Speaking of movies what was it like working on Transformers 2?

Tyrese: It was crazy there’s nothing like it. I can’t compare it to anything I’ve ever seen or been exposed to in my lifetime. It’s crazy to be associated to something that gigantic.

AllHipHop.com: How do you respond to people when they bring up the two characters, Mudflap and Skidz, and they say they embody racist stereotypes?

Tyrese: Everybody is entitled to their opinions. I would say I didn’t create those characters I didn’t have nothing to do with them I just showed up and did my part.

AllHipHop.com: Aside from movies are you working on any new music right now?

Tyrese: I got a new single out called Mayhem Take Me Away. That’s an international record right now that’s crazy. It’s produced by Clinton Sparks. It’s a real techno house type of record and they’re killing that record in all of those types of clubs.

AllHipHop.com: Can fans be on the look out for an album from you?

Tyrese: I don’t know yet. I don’t want to say.

AllHipHop.com: Do you have plans to expand on any other comic book characters besides Mayhem, or is it all about him right now?

Tyrese: Well no the second comic book that I’m going to release just digitally is actually a comic book for women called Love Sick. It’s all about relationships and turmoil and different challenges and things that you just go through and we’re going to all the voice over work and sound effects, everything with it. But, with Mayhem you get the whole comic book with all of those features, you also get t making of the comic book which is like a 45-minute documentary, you get the Mayhem single, and you also get the music video to it, all for $1.99.

AllHipHop.com: So what’s the schedule for the release dates of the upcoming issues of Mayhem?

Tyrese: The first issue came out on August 5 and the second issue came out on September 9. So the digital comic issue is one month after the paper issue.

50 Cent Says Jay-Z Blocked $800k Offer For Beanie

Rapper 50 Cent appeared on Philadelphia’s Power 99FM this morning (November 3) and addressed a number of controversial feuds currently taking place in Hip-Hop.

50 stopped by Miss Jones’ morning show and discussed Jay-Z’s feud with Philly artist Beanie Sigel, Jay-Z and Rick Ross.

Sigel recently dropped a track titled “Average Cat,” where he accused Jay-Z of abandoning artists on Roc-A-Fella, questioned Jay-Z’s loyalty and accused the mogul of locking him into his deal with the Roc.

50 Cent confirmed Sigel’s allegations on “Average Cat” that he almost signed the Philadelphia-bred rapper to his G-Unit Records, which at one point, was to jointly market a project by former Roc-A-Fella artist Freeway.

“He [Beanie Sigel] would have got at least $800,000 at that point to come over,” 50 Cent told Miss Jones. “Jay was telling him that he didn’t want to lose him. I think Jay and Puffy had these feelings toward me at one point I believe.”

During an interview with Charlamagne Tha God, Beanie Sigel revealed that he was close to signing a deal with G-Unit, but the deal was blocked by Jay-Z.

50 Cent confirmed this and also stated that he ran into the same issues when he attempted to bring estranged Bad Boy artist Mase into the G-Unit fold.

“They didn’t want to lose anything to me, while their energy was going on. Puff didn’t want to sign the Mase deal and Jay didn’t want to do that,” 50 Cent told Miss Jones today (November 3).

50 Cent has wasted no time replying to Rick Ross’ “Baby By Me” remix which hit the Internet yesterday dissing G-Unit.

“I’ve never seen a bigger fraud in Hip-Hop. He Just did a remix to Baby by Me. “It’ll count as a spin for my record. He’s an idiot. I’d be upset if my baby’s momma was out there. He’s broke. His last album sold 300,000 copies. His last record [Triple C’s Custom Cars and Cyles ] just like sold 4,000 records.”

The Strength of Will Smith’s Knowledge

Like it or not, Will Smith is a member of Hip-Hop’s Royal Family.

The man once known as Fresh Prince has ascended his career to heights only imagined back in the late 80’s when his career first started with cohort DJ Jazzy Jeff (also a legend). Through it all, Smith has been charismatic and wise with his business moves – from Philly to Hollywood.

But, beyond his achievements as an actor and artist, Will Smith has further diversified his legacy into that of a guru of sorts.

While some  parties in rap have taken shots at Will, watch this video and check out the strength of Will Smith’s knowledge! The Fresh Prince!

Jadakiss, Just Blaze, and Alchemist Set for Red Bull Big Tune Finals

Today (November 3), Atlanta will be host to this year’s Red Bull Big Tune event, where a group of 16 aspiring producers will compete for the chance to record with industry stars.

Created in 2004 by producer/emcee Vitamin D and event coordinator Jonathan Moore, Big Tune has grown into a national event aimed at creating a clear path for talented producers to break into the industry.

Across the country, 8 qualifying battles were held to finalize 16 of the best upcoming producers in Hip-Hop.

From each battle, the winner and runner-up were selected to compete tonight. Before competing in tonight’s finals, each producer was given one-on-one mentorship options with established top names Just Blaze, Mr. Porter, DJ Toomp, The Bizness, and Don Cannon.

The big name producers offered invaluable information on their industry experience, and reviewed their past hits along with select samples of their new work.

The winner of tonight’s competition will get the opportunity to record with an A-list emcee of their choice. Last year’s winner C-Sick chose Nas and still marvels at the work they created.

Their storytelling track (“Film”) hit the net several months ago, and has the potential to be included on the rapper’s Damian Marley collaboration LP Distant Relatives.

“The way Nas spits over beats is crazy!” C-Sick explained. “It’s exactly what I expected.” Confirmed performances for tonight include Jadakiss, Alchemist, Mr. Porter, Just Blaze, and The Bizness.

The show will commence from Atlanta’s Opera venue at 8PM. Fans still have time to RSVP for free entry at http://www.redbullbigtune.com.

For those who miss the deadline, a $5 donation will be taken at the door and given to a local music charity.

Masta Ace and Edo G (A&E): The Blessing of Independence

Since their work on the classic singles “The Symphony” and “Be a Father to Your Child,” Masta Ace and Edo G have been staples of Hip-Hop’s underground. Now, after years of critically acclaimed solo and group LPs with younger artists (Special Teamz, eMC), the two veterans have united for a new collaborative album entitled Arts & Entertainment. The buzz from the project has even extended to the mainstream, when the A&E channel caused an album delay over a cease and desist order regarding the duo’s original group name (A&E) and logo.

Now that the legalities are cleared up, Ace and Edo are set to release the project this Tuesday (November 3). With an LP addressing a myriad of subjects from today’s unoriginality in Hip-Hop to the struggles of being an artist, Edo G and Masta Ace continue to thrive away from the bright lights of Hip-Hop’s mainstream.

AllHipHop.com: You guys have worked in the past on several songs and even toured together. Explain what made you two decide to do a full album together.

Edo G: Me and Ace did a song together in about 2002 with this group called Time Machine and the song was called “Making Some Noise.” It came out really dope. And just by chance we kept being featured on the same records over and over for the next couple years. By 2004 we had did so many records together that he asked me to jump on his album Long Hot Summer. And then I asked him to jump on My Worst Enemy. And then Ace asked me to open up on tour with him. We did Europe for about 6 weeks, and first I proposed a mixtape with all the songs we had accumulated with a few new ones, but not really an album.

It didn’t fly at the time because we had so much stuff going on. A couple of years later, my dj Supreme 1 came with a budget and the idea of us doing an album. The timing was just right because it was at the end of 2007. We started rolling from there, and halfway through it was supposed to be Supreme 1 Presents Ace and Edo because he was doing all the production. It wasn’t a full album at that point, but the budget dried up.

We had the choice of continuing or letting it be what it was. We decided to keep going and that’s what you hear on the album with everyone we reached out to, from KRS, to Double-O, Spinna, Pos, to Marsha from Floetry. We really put our feet and a#### into it, pause. That’s how we got Arts and Entertainment.

AllHipHop.com: As we all know albums have many components to them. You two have been the leaders of several successful group albums like Special Teamz’ Stereotypez  and eMC’s The Show. Did someone take the lead here, or where all the duties from production to special guest selection disbursed evenly?

Masta Ace: I feel it was a very even collaborative effort. Both of us brought tracks and ideas to the table. Both of us brought feature people to the album, and it was a relief to not have everything fall on you, and be able to rely on someone else to handle some of the dirty work. It was definitely a full out collaboration.

AllHipHop.com: With that said, would you guys agree it’s easier to do a group project than a solo album?

Edo G: Nah, I would say it’s easier to work with Ace. Not to say it wasn’t easy with Special Teamz. As you said being the known person out of that group, a lot of things fell on me and I’m sure it was the same thing with Ace and eMC. Being that me and Ace are on a equal level, this was one of the easiest projects to work on in my whole career.

AllHipHop.com: It’s been a little over a week since the A&E channel sent a cease and desist order about your logo. I was surprised that this project hit their radar. Were there any discussions about this or did the legal action come as a surprise as well?

Ace: It was just as much a shock for me as it was for you. We didn’t know that they would care or even been aware about what we were doing. We thought that we were so far under the radar that it would go unnoticed and we could kind of do what we wanted and have fun. But we found out for sure that someone is watching!

AllHipHop.com: A lot of the production has a soulful edge, and that would be due to thee good selection of producers in people like Large Professor and Double-O. What made you guys decide to hit the public with “Little Young” as the first single, being that the message could possibly go over people’s heads?

Edo G: We thought that the “Little Young” record would make the most noise for a new group. People know us, but not as a group. Visually, that record spoke to everybody right now. We knew with the video it would bring out what we’re talking about in the message.

AllHipHop.com: You’ve both spoke on the idea of “biting” now as compared to its original definition. Define for everyone the difference between biting and paying homage.

Ace: Paying homage now to an artist like Tupac, you might say a couple of lines known by him and flip it into something else. But back in the day, even saying a similar metaphor to someone else was frowned upon. And then calling yourself Lil or Young something after someone already has that name was frowned upon. It’s a lot of rules nowadays that are getting broken left and right that used to be unacceptable. But that’s just how the times are now. It is what it is I guess.

AllHipHop.com: To build on that you are both veterans of 10 plus years in the business, and have seen trends come, go, and return again. What about this era reminds you of past eras you’ve seen?

Edo G: I’m not mad at all the dance, fun stuff because that aspect is good for the kids to move around. I remember when the Kid N Play’s were out in the 80s. The party type records had that fun appeal to it. I just think there’s no balance in mainstream radio and television Hip-Hop representation. Then you had a range of everything. Now it’s one thing across the board

Ace: To add to that, I remember in the 80s going to the different Hip-Hop clubs and there being so many songs for styles of dances. That reminds me of the last couple of years. You have stuff like “Lean Wit it, Rock Wit It,” before you had stuff like “The Wop.” You had the Biz Dance…

Edo G: Joe Ski Love had joints, there was “Do the James Brown”

Ace: Today reminds me of the early 80s with all the different dance records.

Edo G: Kids are even dressing now like the early 80s as well. That retro 80s thing is big.

AllHipHop.com: It seems that more artists are willing to work together now since the money train has dried up. You guys never had that issue, but do you see your peers being more willing to branch out now?

Edo G: We stay at an even keel. We put records out and tour the world. We try to keep it fresh. With a lot of classic artists collaborating on albums, we’re just trying to keep it interesting. I don’t think it has too much to do with the money. The money is going to be what’s its going to be. We’re trying to keep it interesting for the fans. We can keep putting out solo albums forever and doing the same thing. But this way it keeps people engaged.

Now on the higher level they’re probably doing it for monetary reasons, but not us.

AllHipHop.com: Regarding keeping fan interest, that’s not an easy task these days. You can work on an album for a year and a half, only to have it leaked and forgotten about in a few days. How does an artist hold fans for longer than those few hours or days?

Ace: It’s definitely harder to keep the fan’s attention because we’re in the microwave era. You download an album; you’re hype on it today and forget about it by next week. That’s why the music has to be super big from the messages to the production. Everything has to be on point to hold people’s attention for longer than they’re used to. It’s the nature of how things are now.

Edo G: We did a good job of not getting it leaked early. We had a party in Boston where we gave the album out early ourselves. From that party we know the 200 copies were going to get put on the internet. We’re cool with that because it’s only a week before the street date. I’m glad we did it that way because our publicist was like man we have to leak another record. Then we’d have to do another and another. Ace was nah, let’s just focus on the records we leaked.  We only leaked two records off the album before it came out.

More people should do that. If you leak too much, they’ve already heard most of the album and will skip through it.

Ace: And you’ll lose the new album experience. Instead, you’re hearing stuff all out of order if you heard 5-6 songs beforehand. Then you’ll find yourself skimming through it when you get it the first time.

AllHipHop.com: Edo, do you feel after all that the Boston Hip-Hop scene has been validated after all the work you’ve put in over the last two decades.

Edo G: Oh yeah, definitely! I have a radio show out on the Hot 97, and a lot of younger emcees have built on my foundation. You can’t mention Boston without mentioning me, so I definitely feel validated as well.

AllHipHop.com: Ace, let’s go back to the Sittin’ On Chrome album. You got a lot of criticism from NY for what was perceived to be selling out with that LP’s sound. Now, it’s revered and even has an appearance on the new DJ Hero video game. Did you foresee people coming around eventually to the vision you had for that album?

Ace: Honestly, I didn’t think people would ever come around. When I put it out, that East Coast was very mad at me. They weren’t messing with me. They thought I had sold out to the West Coast, when all I was trying to do was mix the two sounds together and create something new and different.

But in hindsight, even some of the artists who were critical of what I was doing; I see them jumping around doing Down South music or straight West Coast tracks. The same people who were critical of me.

AllHipHop.com: The “Here I Go Again” record is very heartfelt in its detail of the struggles and sometimes the self-doubt that artists go through. Can you both give examples from your career when you were close to quitting, and what exactly made you decide to keep going?

Edo G: For me, it was about ’94 going into ’95. I was still on Mercury recording that 3rd album. I had half of the budget, and it was more than the first and second LPs. But I wasn’t in a good space, so I wasn’t making good music and I was taking s**t for granted. Then I got a call from my lawyer saying Mercury wasn’t picking this option up, even though they paid half already. They just cut their losses and was like see ya later.

I felt like I was in the middle of the ocean in a life raft. What am I going to do? I had a whole year and a half of being depressed: just smoking weed and being f**ked up. Then around ’96 and ‘97 the independent scene starting flourishing. Me and my man Joe Mansfield put on an EP titled Dedicated. It was just 6 songs in vinyl and we sold like 15,000 copies. The money was great, and it inspired me to get back to where I am today.

Ace: For me it was about 1998. I had just left Delicious Vinyl and signed with Big Beat Records. I had recorded about 16 songs, and we were basically just looking for the singles. And somewhere in that process they decided they weren’t going to put the record out and just shelved it. I got really p##### off at the industry, because I felt I had put in 2 years worth of work just thrown in the garbage.

I went out and got a resume together. I said I was going to get a job at a label. I figured I couldn’t do it as an artist, so I was going to fix the industry from the inside. I was sending resumes out and focusing more on producing. I felt producers didn’t have to go through the nonsense that artists did. They just got their money. I started shopping beat CDs and the whole nine.

In ’99 I went out to Philly and did work with DJ Jazzy Jeff and his Touch of Jazz crew. That was inspiring and got me focused.

In 2000 I went out on a tour of Europe, not really knowing what to expect. But I found there were people who actually cared that I was making records.

Those two experiences really rejuvenated me and recharged my batteries.

AllHipHop.com: One final question, please tell me there will be a video for “Dancing Like a White Girl?”

Edo G: [Laughs] Yes! We’re working on that. We’re probably not going to film it now because we’re about to go on tour in Europe for about a month. It’ll probably be filmed in January 2010. There’ll definitely be a video and we already have a crazy concept for it so you’ll love it.

AllHipHop.com: Any closing thoughts?

Edo G: Make sure to pick up the album Arts & Entertainment on November 3. Also check out our website www.aetheduo.com, there’s a lot of content that’s not out there. And thank you for the support.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Did Jay “Fire” Charlamagne? Beanie Part 2 Coming!? Diddy Still Has Mase?

DISCLAIMER:

All content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.

JAY-Z DIDN’T DO IT – OR DID HE?!

How crazy is it? The God MC vs Charlamagne Tha God! On the serious side, I heard Jay-Z had no role whatsoever in the firing of one C Tha God. Apparently, Jay is really just too busy to be concerned about such matters. He’s reportedly traveling as you know and basically paying that little to no mind. On the flip side, you know as well as I know, the internet is going nuts about this one. All denials aside, people are saying that Jay snapped his fingers and made it happen. The formal reason from the Philly radio that C works at is that there was a format change and he was apart of that change. Now, he was only at the job for a cool six months and managed to make waves. My girl Kendra G is still there though so I’m not sure what is up. She needs to send me some damn rumors!

BEANIE’S ON THE WAY

A lot of people are wondering what Beanie is doing? Well, it would appear that Beans is just trying to talk to Jay-Z, but will Jay give him that call. I don’t think so. I think he should though. Now…is Beanie still signed to Def Jam? I thought he was but somebody has notified me that Sig is going a different way. He is reportedly looking to do an independent album to drop in the near future. Not sure what this will entail but I do know the label. Not saying. Curious as to whether or not he’ll be permitted to do so or will he just bully these cats.

Got this from somebody close to Geda K:

As stated previously Geda K is currently fielding offers from Bad Boy and G Unit (both interscope) and the final touches of his Real Gangstas (all G- Unit samples) mixtape are being done. Yes he has alot of dirty laundry on Bleek and Jay. It’s more personal than Beans remember Jay has a bad habit of leaving dudes flat on they a#### … Remember Jay used Geda K  going at Jaz-O what does he have to show for it? Wonder what steps they will take now to stop this from being heard.

MASE STILL SIGNED TO BAD BOY!?

I don’t want to make Mase the Epic Fail of the Day, but I will if I find out he did all that dancing and smiling only to be still signed to Bad Boy. There is a lot of jibber jabber going on and it would seem that Diddy signed something that freed up some of the provisions and the constraints that Diddy had on him, but basically keeps him signed to the label. This means, we’ll hear Mase a bit more, but not on another label – rumor says!

50 CENT IS WILD!!!!!

50 Cent is one bugged out dude. Here he predicts the sales for Rick Ross’ Triple C’s and then he even starts crying at the end. In my opinion, there is something eerily scary about somebody that can cry on cue. And, I’m sure AHH didn’t predict their sales, but this is classic!

SIGNS THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END!

What is going on in this evil world we live in? A pair of teachers fighting over a man in school? In front of students? Police say a love letter on the social networking web site Facebook created a fight at a Georgia Middle School. Police arrested both women, it was so crazy! One female teacher is pregnant from a male teacher at the school. Well, the other female teacher posted a love letter on Facebook to the male teacher. The first female that’s preggers saw it. Well…they beefed over FB and then took it to the streets on Monday as the kids watched them fight and curse up a storm. Parents seek to have them fired, but the school is investigating.

NICKI MINAJ LOVES THE LADIES!

Najaya from NC A&T hit me up with something that seems mostly fact! Nicki Minaj did a show at the school with a bunch of others like Keri Hilson and Trey songs. Well, she paid her homage to hear fans by signing “Nicki Minaj” on their b######. That’s nice of her. Check out this video at the 4:00 min mark.

Nicki is so cool. This concert looks like it rocked!

FREDRO STARR TO DEATH ROW?

This story is crazy! Check it out! Dro Starr talks about his encounter with Suge Knight and how Pac was like “Don’t do it.”

ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

Natalie Nunn On Chris Brown: “Two nights ago, he was trying to marry me.” I heard this babe got a reality show. WTF!?

I don’t know if signing to Cash Money has gone to Bow Wow head – pause – but rumor has it, he’s expecting TWO kids! Whoa!

My homey Jay tells me they have more unreleased MJ than Tupac even! WOW!!!

Jay-Z is planning his next video with Young Jeezy. “As Real As It Gets.”

By the way, my homey Jazzy f. Baby tells me that his sources say Beans’ next album will be on Roc-A-Fella and then G-Unit.

The internets have “determined” that A. Keys and S. Beatz were a couple before he was a “free” man. I can’t call it, but that’s the rumor. Mashonda is being very nice. She could be a real disaster for Alicia.

THE DOC MAY STILL GET ARRESTED FOR MJ!

Dr. Conrad Murray is not out of the watcher yet. The LAPD is saying he may be arrested by the end of the year or early 2010.

NEW RIHANNA!

What do you think of “Hard,”featuring Young Jeezy?

THIS IS JAY SEAN AND HE’S OFFICIALLY ON CASH MONEY!

He got his chain! Why do I feel like Beanie had the same moment at one time. Give me the money – forget the chain!
