Busta Rhymes has been tapped to perform and

escort upcoming MMA contender Brett Rogers to the cage this Saturday (May 31) during EliteXC’s prime time television debut.

Rhymes, who is back in the states after a tour of Europe,

will open EliteXC’s Saturday Night Fights, which airs live from 9:00-11:00pm on CBS.The rapper, who has been a longtime supporter of MMA, will perform his newest single “Don’t Touch Me (Throw Some Water On ‘Em).””I’m a huge fan of the excitement and intensity of Mixed Martial Arts, and it’s a thrill for me to be a part of the most important event in this

sport’s young history,” Rhymes said.

Rhymes will also escort Rogers

to the ring, where the rising MMA fighter will square off against  John

Murphy.

The evening will also feature the highly anticipated primetime television debut

of rising MMA star and legendary street-fighting YouTube sensation Kimbo Slice.

“My high-energy performances are a perfect match to get the fighters in the

perfect mindset for total domination inside the EliteXC cage on May 31st,”

Busta Rhymes said.

Other fighters who will battle in the cage include Robbie Lawler, Scott Smith, Phil Baroni, Joey Villasenor and “Crush” from American Gladiators,

Gina Carano.

“Busta’s performance brings an entirely different element of excitement and entertainment, to what is already going to be one of the most electrifying

nights in MMA history,” said EliteXC Live Events President Gary Shaw.

“What better way to kick off this live telecast than the raw intensity of

Busta Rhymes setting the tone for the bout between Rogers and Murphy, and for

the entire evening?”

Rhymes is preparing to release his new album Blessed, which is due in

stores July 31st.
