(AllHipHop News) It’s been 23 years since Set It Off starring Jada Pinkett, Queen Latifah, Vivica A. Fox, and Kimberly Elise arrived in theaters. A fresh take on the film is said to be in the works.
According to reports, Insecure creator Issa Rae is developing a remake of Set It Off. Rae (The Hate U Give, Little) is expected to act in the movie. Syreeta Singleton and Nina Gloster were tapped to write the script.
F. Gary Gray (Friday, Straight Outta Compton) directed the original Set It Off. New Line Cinema’s 1996 production about four female bank robbers grossed more than $36 million at the domestic box office and more than $41 million worldwide.
A Set It Off stage play, written and directed by Je’Caryous Johnson, debuted in 2018. Da Brat, LeToya Luckett, Kyla Pratt, and Demetria McKinney took on the roles of the main characters.
