Atlanta’s Music Midtown festival has enlisted rapper/producer Jermaine Dupri to produce their summer concert and has announced the initial line-up for its 2005 Music Midtown Urban Music Stage.
The festival takes place from June 10-12 near the Atlanta Civic Center and will feature more than 100 musical acts. Dupri, the newly appointed President of Virgin Records Urban Music Division, said the concert showcases some of the city’s brightest stars.
“Over the years, Atlanta has really established itself as a hub for all kinds of great music,” said Dupri in a statement. “The talent in this city is phenomenal and Music Midtown has made it a priority to promote that talent during the last 11 years.”
Artists scheduled to perform on the concert include Slim Thug, Black Eyed Peas, and Ciara.
The June 12 line-up honors hip-hop pioneers MC Lyte, Whodini, Choc, Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick, while Biz Markie serves as DJ.
“The line-up for this year’s Urban Stage will be unparalleled as we plan to showcase well-known acts, the up-and-coming stars and some of the people who were responsible for creating hip hop,” said Dupri. “Festival goers will not be disappointed.”
Tickets go on sale at 10:00 am on April 9 and will be available at all Ticketmaster outlets or at www.atlantaconcerts.com.
