While speaking with Access Hollywood, Daniels stated he plans to get rapper/actor Common to guest star on the series. The Chicago native had expressed his interest in having a role on the Hip Hop soap opera.

“Oh yeah, for sure,” said Daniels when asked if he would make a part for the Academy Award winner. “Common, you heard that first.”

Daniels confirmed Common’s Selma co-star Oprah will be part of the Empire cast as well. He directed the media mogul in his 2013 film The Butler.

“She’s going to be on it,” added Daniels.
