Outkast, Lauryn Hill, and the Roots lead the lineup for the Smokin’ Grooves festival, which was previously deaded. The tour starts July 18 in San Francisco and goes until Aug. 7 in Atlanta. Cee-Lo, The Jurassic 5 and DJ Shadow will also play various dates on the tour. The last Smokin’ Grooves tour was held in 1998 and featured Wyclef, Public Enemy, Cypress Hill, Busta Rhymes and Gangstarr with MOP. The tour started in 1996 with A Tribe Called Quest, Cypress Hill and a then united Fugees.
With OutKast being the headliner, they said people won’t get a typical show from the duo. “It’s gonna be a little longer, since we’re headlining,” Dre said to VH-1. “We have a couple new songs under our belt. And we’ll be bringin’ in new artists like Killer Mike and TCP.”
