Pharrell Williams and business partner Nigo, a Japanese fashion/music entrepreneur, celebrated the grand opening of their Billionaire Boys Club / Ice Cream Flagship Store in New York last night (November 28).
Celebrities like DJ Cipha Sounds and Swizz Beatz and fashion professionals packed the two-story space-themed boutique located in the trendy SoHo district of Manhattan.
Pharrell said that he plans to build the retail aspect of his clothing slowly and deliberately.
“I don’t want to grow too big,” Pharrell told AllHipHop.com. “I’m a student in the game, and Nigo has shown me a lot, and I’ve learned a lot from Marc Jacobs [American fashion designer]. The two things that sort of ties those two characters together is [that] its quality first – quality over quantity.”
The New York event marks the third actual store opening for the BBC / Ice Cream brands.
The first store opened in Japan in 2005 and the second was erected in Hong Kong earlier this year. Media, music and fashion insiders were treated to some of the newest offerings from the line, including an array of custom letterman-style jackets, baseball caps and t-shirts.
Later in the evening, Snoop Dogg, DJ Drama, Neptunes partner Chad Hugo and others joined Pharrell at an exclusive party in Manhattan.
