VTech (R) and Mochilla will pay tribute to the late J Dilla during the second concert in their four-part “Timeless” concert series at the Harriet and Charles Luckman Fine Arts Complex in Los Angeles on Sunday (February 22).
The Showcase will be lead by headliners Carlos Nino and Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, as they perform an interpretation of J. Dilla’s music through their contemporary chamber music style.
Nino and Atwood-Ferguson also will perform selections from their EP “Suite for Ma Dukes,” live for the first time alongside a 40-piece orchestra and surprise guests.
The “Timeless” concert series pays homage to the forerunning arrangers and composers of today’s beat-makers.
Each installment of the four part “Timeless” concert features international artists who perform their all-time hits as well as an exclusive piece.
DJ’s House Shoes and J.ROCC will dedicate their sets to the arrangers and composers being honored this Sunday.
James “J Dilla” Yancey, who suffered from Lupus, passed away on February 10, 2006 at the age of 32, due complications from the incurable disease.
Renowned for his signature sound in Hip-Hop from the mid-1990s through today, the Detroit native’s work could be found in songs by A Tribe Called Quest, Janet Jackson, Common, Busta Rhymes, De la Soul and more.
