“The multi-talented RZA has mastered the art of music, acting and filmmaking,” said Amasia’s Michael Helfant and Bradley Gallo. “We are ecstatic to have him behind the camera on our next project as he brings a fresh and innovative take to this international action thriller from Rich D’Ovidio.”
According to THR, Breakout is about a young photographer falsely arrested in Bangladesh for drug trafficking. The film is set to begin shooting in early 2016.
This marks RZA’s third turn in the director’s chair. Previously, the legendary music producer was at the helm for 2011’s The Man with the Iron Fists, and he is currently in post-production for Coco which stars Azealia Banks, Common and Jill Scott.
