" Coy was sentenced to 45 years in prison after a jury

convicted him of sexually assaulting a 9 year old girl. Coy, who took the stand

in his own defense despite objections from his attorney, displayed no emotion

when the judge read the sentence. Coy was also ordered to pay a $10,000 fine.

Defense attorney Chip Lewis maintained that Coy

was innocent and that his trial was based entirely on hearsay. Coy testified

that eight women who claimed they had sex with him while still underage were

lying to the jury about their claims. "Mr. Coy I have spent 17 years in

this courthouse, and in that time I have seen more sex offenders than I wish

to remember," Judge Mark Kent Eliis. "But one thing that I have found

over time is that sex offenders have one trait in common, and that is that they

all are liars — and you are no exception to that rule."

The judge dismissed Coy’s notion that he was

also a victim in the case, because of his celebrity as a wealthy rapper. "The

fact is that there is only one victim in this case, and it is a 9-year-old girl,"

Ellis said. "Now that is reality, and you need to deal with it. It’s time

for you to face the music," he said.

Prosecutors were seeking a life sentence against

Coy. It was not clear at presstime whether Coy plans to appeal the sentence.
