Suge Knight Wonders Why Chris Brown Is Villainized While Dr. Dre Is Celebrated

Suge Knight claims Chris Brown being shunned over his abuse allegations while Dr. Dre gets celebrated, points to a double standard.

Suge Knight believes a double standard exists that affords Dr. Dre forgiveness for his alleged past violence toward women but not Chris Brown.

The incarcerated Death Row Records co-founder spoke out on the latest episode of his Collect Call podcast after the National Basketball Association (NBA) disinvited Brown from playing in the upcoming Celebrity All-Star Game. According to Knight, it’s unfair that Chris Brown is blackballed, whereas Dr. Dre, who has been accused of assault by multiple women, is celebrated.

He mentioned the Grammys’ Dr. Dre Global Impact Award, stating, “This man would get an award for beating up women.” While he didn’t condone Chris Brown’s 2009 assault on Rihanna, he insisted the singer being “stripped from his crown” is a double standard.

“What I’m saying is this,’ he added. “He beat up one woman, and they still casting stones at him. They don’t give him his cigar, you don’t let him come perform, they don’t let him pretty much win awards. But you can have an Impact Award for Andre.”

Suge Knight has had his issues with both Dr. Dre and Chris Brown over the years. He filed a lawsuit against Breezy over a 2014 nightclub shooting where Brown was performing. Knight later accused Dr. Dre in court of hiring the shooter to take him out.

“I was told about that,” Knight testified in June 2022. “People showed me checks, cancelled checks.”

Knight was on the stand in his trial for killing a man with his truck on the set of the movie Straight Outta Compton. Suge Knight also recently claimed that he took the wrap for Dr. Dre in his federal gun case which led to him doing time.
