Drake To Step In Boxing Ring; Don King Weighs In On Rapper
(AllHipHop News) Rapper Drake will step in the boxing ring this weekend, with undefeated super lightweight champion Devon Alexander The Great.
Drake will walk Alexander to the ring this Saturday (March 6) at the Mohegan Sun during Alexanders fight against Juan Urango.
The Canadian-born rap star will perform his hit single Forever before the fight, which will be televised live on HBO.
The 23-year-olds met in Las Vegas where Alexander was training for the upcoming bout.
Naturally Im a big fan of Drakes, Alexander said in a statement. Hes a really nice guy and I like the Forever lyric. Im looking forward to hearing it as an added bit of motivation while Im walking into the ring to face Juan Urango on Saturday night at Mohegan Sun.
Even fight promoter Don King was looking forward to Drakes performance.
Ive always loved music and Drake is one of the hottest artists in the world today, King said. Weve got the best young boxer in Devon Alexander and this sparkling young singer Drake. Its going to be something special on Saturday night.

High School Cancels DMX Gospel Concert
(AllHipHop News) An upcoming gospel rap concert featuring DMX has been canceled due to the rappers involvement with the event. DMX was slated to perform at Independence High School in Glendale, Arizona.
He was to be the highlight of Morning Star Sanctified Churchs concert, which has been nixed tude to safety concerns.
According to TMZ.com, high school officials opted to cancel the event, even though Morning Star Church obtained a $1 million dollar policy, just in case something with awry.
The church is offering refunds to fans who purchased the tickets.
The event is being rescheduled to take place at the church, according to reports.

The stage crasher got bull rushed all the way to the other side of the stage and literally got tossed of the stage and hit the floor haaaaaard. Dude was on the ground for like 10 mins before they were able to take him out, I smell a law suit coming haha.

Guru Family Member Accuses Solar of Misconduct
(AllHipHop News) News that Guru is out of a coma and survived a heart attack scare have been overshadowed by an accusation that producer Solar is keeping the rapper from seeing his family. According to a webcast by Guru nephew Justin Nicholas-Elam Ruff, when the veteran emcee first fell ill in early February, Solar kept the information secret from family members for 2 weeks. After Guru fell ill for reasons I will not disclose, he was checked into a New York hospital Tuesday February 2, 2010, Ruff began. Gurus family was not notified of this until Friday February 16, 2010. That means that 2 weeks went by before my family was notified by Solar that Guru was in the hospital. Ruff goes on to claim that several family members, including the rappers mother, tried to see him. After being rebuffed by Solar, the producer claimed that Guru did not want to be seen in that condition. Since the news broke on Sunday February 28 that Guru had went into a cardiac arrest-induced coma, Ruff states that Solar had blocked all ties between Guru and his family. Since the information leaked, Solar has completely cut us off. My family has no way of knowing what is going on with Gurus situation, Ruff stated. Solar has complete control over the flow of information given from the hospital, and will not disclose any information with us. The doctors and staff wont discuss any information with Gurus family. If Ruffs allegations are true, the hospital can withhold information from family members if specified in a persons written Power of Attorney, which authorizes an individual to act on anothers behalf regarding business and legal issues.If Solar has obtained a durable Power of Attorney, his authorization would extend even if Guru becomes incapacitated. Ruff verified that the family could legally challenge Solars rights, but explained Gurus condition makes a prolonged legal battle unfeasible. Now in order for the family to change the situation, we have to hire a lawyer to take this court, and it would be sorted out over a couple of weeks. Unfortunately we do not have a couple of weeks he argued. My uncle Guru is in a serious state of health right now. Its the familys right to know his status. I know Solar has been his right hand man for the last 6 years, but that does not give him the right to make decisions on whether or not the family gets to see Guru, or learn about his status. The fact that he is acting like this lets me know he does not have Gurus best interest in mind. Even DJ Premier commented on the video on his Twitter page, stating Before I direct myself towards @Solar_7Grand, I want to know if Guru is safe [and] with his family. Premier runs Year Round Records. The labels manager Biggest Gord wrote an open letter publicly questioning the statement released by Solar.I wanna hear from the person or persons who Guru (allegedly) spoke those words to, Biggest Gord challenged. Better yet his doctor so they can look me in the face and tell me he woke from his coma and uttered those very words quoted in the quote or even better .hear it from the horses mouth. Biggest Gord also revealed that Guru may have suffered a collapsed lung during the second surgery and may still be in a coma. I just wanna know that my dude really did wake from that coma and spoke those words .because the alternative is just damn sad and disappointing .until then imma keep praying hoping and waiting ..Biggest Gord said.

Plies Brother Big Gates Added To Civil Suit Over Shooting
(AllHipHop News) Rapper Plies is the subject of a civil lawsuit over a 2006 Florida shooting inside of a nightclub that left five victims injured.
The lawsuit stems from a July 2, 2006 shooting after Plies and Baton Rouge, Louisiana rapper Lil Boosie were headlining a show at West Nightclub, in Gainesville, Florida.
As Plies performed, a dispute broke out with promoters over stage time.
Plies brother Ronell Lawrence Lavatte, 31 (aka Big Gates) and Tory Denard Carnegie, were accused of firing three rounds of bullets into a crowd over of 1,000 people, striking five men from Gainesville. Both men were charged with multiple counts of attempted murder, while Plies, born Algernod Lanier Washington, was charged with illegal possession of concealed weapons.
Lavatte eventually served three years in prison for his role in the shooting.
Plies pleaded no contest and was sentenced to probation. According to the Associated Press, the victims recently amended the 2008 lawsuit to include Lavatte and his Big Gates Records imprint.
The lawsuit claims Plies used the shooting to boost his credibility and profit off of their suffering, when his record sales soared.
Plies attorney dismissed the charges and said the victims attorneys only amended the lawsuit to gain publicity, since the lawsuit had stalled in county court.

Hmmmmm…. “Photographer Mark Baptiste took a portrait of me in December 2008 for an art book,” Ellis says. “It was tastefully done. Someone leaked the photo. I don’t know who did it, but the photo had nothing to do with my resignation as Wyclef Jean’s manager.” If you ask me, “the man” is playing his tricks again to bring my good brother Clef down! Jay-Z Documentary ‘NY-Z’ To Premiere This Month
(AllHipHop News) Rapper Jay-Z will be the subject of a new behind-the-scenes documentary titled NY-Z, which will take viewers backstage during the rappers 9-11 tribute at Madison Square Garden in September.
The documentary features never before seen footage of Jay-Z and John Mayer as they prepare for their performance during the Answer the Call benefit concert.
New York, New York, its my foundation, its the center of my growth, its the muse for my art, Jay-Z said in a trailer for the documentary.
NY-Z will examine the performers views on performing in the historic venue for the benefit concert, which sold out in less than 15 minutes when tickets went on sale on Tuesday, September 8, 2009.
I think Jay is like infinitely curious and I think that has everything to do with his longevity, singer John Mayer added.

Award-winning Director, Antoine Fuqua is best known for his
gritty storytelling and drama-filled films like Training Day, Shooter and most recently Tears of the Sun. His latest cops and robbers-genre release Brooklyns
Finest doesnt stray too far from what
seems to work for Fuqua sex, action and naked women.
Set against the bowels of the New Yorks East Brooklyn, Brooklyns
Finest boasts an all-star ensemble led by
one of Hollywoods most talked about bad boys, Wesley Snipes. Snipes plays Caz, who is also a
recently freed drug kingpin that the audience will find it hard not connecting with.
Even though weve seen this character from Snipes many times before, hes able
to bring Caz to life.
Most Fuqua films highlight a graying between good versus
evil. Brooklyns Finest is no different as it is able to engage audiences with
plenty gun-totting, action-driven movie-lovers. That wont outshine the
greatness of actors like Richard Gere (who plays Eddie) and Don Cheadle
(playing Tango).
Both seasoned actors portray roles of vulnerable yet cunning
police officers. Eddie, a worn out veteran cop, merely wants to finish out his
tenure considered a good cop. When the film opens, hes at the start of his
last seven days of duty. To get him through it, he employs loyal companions –
liquor and the neighborhood prostitute.
Tango (Don Cheadle) is an experienced undercover who wants
out of his life on the streets for a cushy desk job as a detective. Ethan Hawke
plays Sal, a narcotics officer balancing the pressures of a growing family and
constant opportunities of temptation. All of the officers have bouts with
corruption and failures, all of which become very obvious.
The script was written by Michael C. Martin and Brad Caleb
Kane and feels a lot like the burnt-out cop stories that began to sprout in the
’70s, crossed with the dirty-cop movies that have seemingly been around
forever. In each of the Brooklyns Finest
police stories, happening simultaneously throughout the film, these cops have
lost all perspective on their jobs yet they seem unashamed and unaware of their
own irrational behavior. This is
most apparent with a desperate Sal (Ethan Hawke), who pockets money from a dope
bust.
Each characters individual challenge make this
male-dominated flick worthwhile and the resulting collision is a brutal
ammunition-filled brawl of a movie. Brooklyns Finest will meet every-bit of your need for targeted
violence and spilling sexuality; especially from newcomer Shannon Kane who
spends most of the film in her birthday suite. But the title is a double
entendre for the NYPD and may confuse those that associate it with a rap song
by Jay-Z and The Notorious B.I.G. Set in BK, Brooklyns Finest is exceptionally produced and evokes greatly a drug-infested
environment of East Brooklyn, including community outrage and exploding hostility.

Brooklyns finest pointed this out in the middle of his sold-out Blueprint 3 concert last night (March 2) when he proclaimed, Madison Square Garden is now the house that Hov built! Running through a torrent of hits, Hov was in typical form, but whether youve seen him once or a mil-li-on times, its always an experience. Dressed in all black everything, the motif for the night, the God MC spit a set that ranged from the newbies (Run This Town, Empire State Of Mind) to still fresh (99 Problems, U Dont Know) to classics (Can I Live, Big Pimpin) while sharing the moment with Young Jeezy and Trey Songz. And Drake And Nicki Minaj in glittery lace tights Yes, the hypest point of the night was Young Jeezys surprise guests. Following Nickis Bedrock verse, Lil Waynewhose passionate stage stomps are unparalleledhopped, skipped and bounced on stage to the sounds of Im Goin In. In true golden child fashion, Drake wore all white and a gray t-shirt instead of black garb. It was a good day for Wayne, whose sentencing had been postponed earlier. Jeezy had jokes: How the f### you come back from that s###? he asked as Wayne strutted off. Just kidding.
2. Trey Songz Gets His Shine
The R&B superstar-in-the-making opened with a roughly 45-minute set that included all those singles you hear incessantly on radio. He kicked off with Cant Help But Wait, I Need A Girl, Gotta Go and Last Time. No panties dropped that we know of, but the ladies were swooning as Trey performed Neighbors Know My Name and Invented Sex, then brought out Fabolous (and poured liquor down a chosen female concertgoers throat). But the biggest look was Trey returning to the stage later on to help Hov on the hooks to Already Home and Heart of the City. Miming the lyrics side-by-side with Jay-Z, Trey looked like he belonged there.
3. MSG Hearts Young Jeezy?During Jeezys set, Jay-Z reminded the crowd of the courtesy rules: they were to welcome the Atlanta trapper with open arms at all times. You got ’em? Hov asked Jeezy. I got ’em, my n#### So this is the Garden right chea? Heavily chained, Jeezy Hamilton then hit us with a bunch of energizing bangers, including Who Dat? Crazy World, his verse on Rihannas Hard and Put On. Afterward, Hov came back out and told the crowd: New York City, welcome Young Jeezy to the Garden! Now can he get on Twitter?
4. Barack Obama Cameo?After a Black President (Remix) duet with Young Jeezy, Jay-Z told the crowd to pause for a word from our president. No, Barack Obama couldnt make it in person, but the big homie was there in spirit. Hov stood in front of a huge screen that played brief footage of Obamas speech wherein he dusted off his shoulders. No better way to introduce the boastful Timbaland-helmed track.
5. Overtime FTW!?About five minutes before 11 p.m., closing time, Jay-Z joked about the strict Garden rules. I don’t know if y’all know about the Garden… Its like 80 million dollars a minute.” But he’s got money to blow. F**k it I’ll go into overtime. Jay advised the new Jay-Z fans that, This would be a good time to go home. And his eternal hypeman Memphis Bleek returned for the medley of classics, from Money Aint A Thang to Can I Get A to Hard Knock Life. Y’all cost me a little money tonight, but I dont mind, said Jay, capping the night with “Encore.” There were some famous friends (LeBron James, Shaq, Diddy, in the crowd). But no famous guest appearances Just the best lyricist.
